Romero mentioned he has been working since high school, so I thought it would be kind of fun to talk about different jobs we have had throughout our lives. Before I graduated from U of A, I did a work term at CNRL where I eventually was hired after graduation. Prior to that I worked three summers for the city of Edmonton parks and rec(yeah, I was a snivel serpent and I will scratch the eyes out of the first person who makes a smart remark about it). I also worked at a Dairy Queen between the summer of grade 11 and 12. Imagine that, the Iron Chink pouring out soft serve. :lol:
What jobs have you done in the past?
I have been working at different Chinese restaurants for several years ever since I got kicked out of high school. 3 years ago I decided to take up scholar pursuit and cut back my working time on studying. since I got laid off, I've been putting all my time on studying until I eventually graduated from Vancouver adult high school. now I'm practicing english speaking and have decided to move to Saskatoon next year for studying veterinarian program in u of s. I hope everything will go well as I expected
When I was 16 I started working for a local bakery, I worked the counter there until I graduated HS. During college I worked in the adult entertainment industry for a short time (don't tell my parents) and interned as a teachers aid since my degree was in early education. After I graduated I worked as a teacher until I got pregnant with my first; after a year of being home I worked as a receptionist for a car dealership until I got pregnant again. I stayed home for another year and got a job at a large engineering firm and went from receptionist to office manager. Then I got pregnant again, stayed home for 3 months and went back to work at the engineering firm until we moved to Washington state. Since then I've worked in various office capacities for various small companies then 6 years ago my husband and his brothers decided to start a contracting business. Since then I've run the office in various capacities from book keeping, reception, dispatch, and general administration. None of my husband's brother's wives want to work so I'm pretty much it in terms of office help.

I have also stocked shelves in a Canadian Tire store and babysat.
cool thread...in my case i would probably need several pages to write it all down...so for starters...i grew up on a farm...talked my parents into buying me a horse before i started school (so i am told)....i traded it for some cattle and continued to trade stock, or anything else i could make a profit on, and worked for the neighbors until we sold the farm when i was 13....my folks were shocked to discover i was worth more than they were.......so i bought them a house in town to smooth things over (true).....started a construction company in high school...spent two winters working seismic in the arctic (started at Norman Wells and ended at Inuvik).....sold the construction company when i went to university...paid for university by playing pool, poker and running several vending machines around campus.......got my degree and went to Fort Mcmurray Alberta to find fame and fortune in the oil patch.....worked at Suncor for several years.....but couldn't stand working for someone else.....that was my first life.

Actually there weren't as many creepy people as you would think. Most were either just curious or just normal people who had hidden fetishes or people who just wanted to spice up their love lives. I'd say most of the customers you would never know they had a wild side simply by looking at them. If you past them on the street you wouldn't even give them a second glance. To tell the truth most of the people who worked there were stranger and creepier than the customers. I was about the closest one to normal.
BUT there was always the exception like the freak that used to come in every so often who would yank his crank in the fitting room or the guy that thought all the girls working there were prostitutes and kept propositioning us. But even they were pretty harmless. To me they were more entertaining than anything else.
As for the clothing most of what I wore was pretty tame. First off most of the really wild stuff would run afoul of NJ's indecent exposure laws when worn in public and the majority of that kind of stuff wasn't even made in my size. At the time I was in my Goth phase so I wore things like leather bracers and leather collars, graphic tees and the usual gothic bondage pants. Nothing indecent or too outrageous.

The truth of the matter is that if Romero owned a liquor store, bakery or gas station in the US he would be paying minimum wage too. Forcing financially strapped independent owner-operators to pay more than they can afford may seem like a good idea to the uninformed ideological left(hey, it's not their money), but it is just not practical...not even close. It will cause more pain than it would cure.
I forgot to mention that in addition to the jobs I wrote about I also helped out my daddy. My parents own several rental units and I would help him clean and paint after a tenant moved out. My daddy also taught me valuable skills like basic wiring and plumbing. They really wanted a son. :(
Carpenting, lumberjacking, truck-driving, fixing plumbing and building houses.
Also have made few wells. With explosives :D.

I picked strawberries, babysat and bussed tables when I was 13. By the time I was 16 I waitressed tables, hosted and was a dishwasher sometimes. I went to collage got a bunch of stuff, got a job doing book keeping, reception, filing, typing etc. Worked part time waitressing as well. Got too pregnant to work so took some time off to have a son and then a daughter. Took a few more courses, did some accounting and editing for a local magazine/paper. Now I work at home as a full time maid, cook, referree, family accountant, and some babysitting.

I don't know a whole lot either but he can be quite rude and immature at times for no reason. He's nice to me in pm but occasionally he'll let something mean slip when posting on a forum.
