Title: Now blacks want to change 4th of July
Post by: Anonymous on July 04, 2020, 11:34:23 AM
Arielle Gray, a journalist from Boston, argues that the story of American independence is "historically inaccurate" - because slavery in America continued for another 89 years after 4 July 1776, known as Independence Day.

"We have to stop celebrating myths. Fourth of July - Independence Day - is a myth," adds Quintez Brown.

Quintez, Arielle and Tre Vayne say the story taught to them in school was misleading.

They all believe that Juneteenth - which celebrates the official end of slavery in America, on 19 June 1865 - is a more appropriate holiday.

As it is in vogue, everything get's blacked

Some are claiming because there were slaves then, blacks were not independent so date is invalid

While desperately trying to make "everything about them", fact is "independent" is not a people thing ... it's a country thing

Country, and every person in it,  officially became "independent of British rule" on that date .. end of story

But hey even after slavery was abolished, there was still segregation and lynchings till the 60s, so perhaps martin luther king day should be the new independance day

Didn't Mao declare that China had been "liberated" in 1949.

Not as far as the communists are concerned. And they will continue to use their "useful idiots" (their term for the leftist) to promote this confusion until they get the US right totally cowed before executing the "useful idiots". as they wail "we don't understand... we were on your side!!!"

Think of it as payback for Perestroika.

It's the perpetuation of the leftist idiot BLM narrative that US Independence was sparked by the need to protect the institution of slavery. Because after all, doesn't every issue facing the US boil down to racial injustice??? :laugh3:

Nothing could be further from the truth as American Independence was born and fostered in New England. Even in 1776 the states of the North took an anti-slavery social and political stance...Up to and until the final days before the signing of the Declaration of Independence the states of the deep south were not on-board with the idea of Independence. The whole premise was viewed as rabble rousing straight out of Boston politics. It is a small wonder that the first shots of the revolution were fired on Lexington Green in Massachusetts.

Britain didn't abolish slavery until 1833. Independence from Britain in 1776 could not "protect the institution of slavery."

You shouldn't talk about aborigines like that, it's taught now they are the first people on our entire planet...

Their drunken racism is usually buried and I agree 100%. No more Australia Day.
