Title: Winnipeg - Shootings (some fatal) in 4 random places - 14 year old arrested
Post by: cc on July 04, 2020, 10:06:23 PM
A 14-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Danielle Dawn Cote and is facing a number of other charges for his alleged involvement in a string of other recent shootings.

The man remains in hospital in stable condition, police said Friday.

Police allege the same teen is also behind a shooting near the Winnipeg sign at The Forks around 12:35 a.m. July 2, which saw a 40-year-old man rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police have arrested a second teenage boy in connection with a string of unrelated shootings in Winnipeg this week that left one woman dead and several other people wounded.

A boy, 15, is now charged with first-degree murder and a list of other serious offences related to three of the four attacks, all of which happened in the same 24-hour period, police said at a news conference on Saturday morning.

It is believed the 14 year old did the 4th shooting alone so police focused on him first and later on the 25 year old

Shortly after the first shooting on Wednesday morning, police believe the two teens parted ways, during which time the 14-year-old shot at a 17-year-old girl on Isabel Street between Pacific and Bannatyne Avenues, Murray said. Police said they think that girl was with another man or boy at the time, though they have not been able to identify him.

At 3:15 a.m. the same day, Danielle Cote, 27, and her 18-year-old cousin were walking down Flora Avenue near Salter Street when Cote was shot and killed. Her cousin was wounded and taken to hospital in stable condition. Police allege that the same two teens were also involved in that shooting.

Early the next morning, officers responded to The Forks, where two men had been wounded. One of them, who is 40, was taken to hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound. Murray said investigators believe the two boys were also responsible for that incident.

[I'm a bit shocked that they didn't pursue the 2 at the same time I hope it's simply poor reporting behind that part of it - Story has been poorly written - i'll update when I figure it all out]  :confused1:

It is kind of hard to follow. Old Jock lives on the South side, so I do not know how close any of this was to his house.

I heard about the one at The Forks. It is a popular summer area.

I live in the Peg. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it has been a violent summer here so far.
