It would be terribly difficult to even subsidize 'New Canadians' to stay here. We don't have the equivalent of your Section 8 or HUD.
Basically, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms would prevent them from staying here. They may come for a 'quick entry' pass, but would immediately move to a larger city for a variety of reasons: Employment opportunities aren't that great in small towns and rural areas like this. But the main thing? Just as many Whites want to be around their own, so do they... They'll immediately move to a larger city where their own communities are already well established.

I used to date a guy who lived in Nelson. There are several Asian restaurants there if Mel is looking for a place to dine with a future male or female partner.
Did he run the Main Street Diner on Baker?

For such a small city, Nelson is very diverse and has a good selection of Chinese/SE Asian/Japanese-Korean/East Indian restaurants.

I'm picturing mel sneaking around with night goggles peaking Into every bedroom and putting a check mark for every non white on a map of every residence in the area

That doesn't even take into consideration the many Filipino temporary foreign workers in the hotels and restaurants, the Koreans and Japanese on reciprocal working visas, minority people who work there and maintain residences elsewhere or young minority Canadians from other towns and provinces who work in the area in the summer..

Being used to the city, when I initially moved here, I didn't think that sound would travel very far... At first, I was in the basement doing trades type work, and would occasionally become frustrated... I'd shout shit like "FUCKING GOD DAMMIT FUCK THIS FUCKING SHIT" if I fucked up a cut or whatever, thinking that nobody else would hear.
I guess my voice traveled well enough through closed windows, and like half a mile down the road... Where my neighbour actually wanted to make sure I was doing alright with the work, out of concern...
Yes, when everything is rural quiet, sound can travel very far! I've since tried to sound like less of a mad man when doing trades work on the house!
