I've been to tne Koots. Even breezed through Real Woman's hometown (regrettably, but understandably, she was not available for a meet-up at the time).
That area of BC is very pretty, I'll give you that. My last road trip was a journey some six months ago up to the northern tip of Vancouver Island, to Port Hardy. I even breezed through Mimi's hometown on the way (but I didn't bother to contact her because privacy).
My next BC odyssey will involve a visit to Haida Gwaii, where I'll go share a pint or ten with Oscar up in Masset (and that's a standing invitation).
I think I'm more of an ocean-lover than a mountain-lover.

I'd like to see both. A while back I was considering a move to our Calgary office. I went out there, visited Kananaskis(spelling), and Lake Louise. I had a great time. Calgary is so modern and clean compared to Toronto. And I loved the mountains. I never saw a deer in the wild in my life before that trip.
If I had more time I would have rented a car and visited South East BC. I hear Nelson is a cool little city with a liberal vibe. When this pandemic is behind us, a trip to the Koots is on my bucket list. And if you are there at the time Blurt, I will treat you to a pint or two of craft, some Korean bbq and a game of golf. This is a serious offer.

I's a bit mystified. Indigenous Panamanians are dark equator area type folk .. some West Indian from canal work and others mixed .. some mixed Spanish as would be expected

I especially understand as Winnipeg weather is about as undesirable as it gets in both directions
We have lived in tropical climate, almost as close to the equator as Panama and liked it .. till we realized how dangerous it could be in the areas we would like to live in
I suggest to do it as we did .. move there at start of winter so as to gently get used to the temperature gradually (not that Winnipeg can get pretty awful in summer as well as winter. Doing it that way worked well for us and by end of summer we found it quite pleasant
The Phils does not get to bad for heat, low 90s F at worse. I'm not familiar with summer temps in Panama
Having lived in Florida and L.A etc, we find the West BC Coast good for us in semi-retirement .. although housing prices are bad and the island while very desirable in ways is isolated by water

As you well know, on any of these forums, any thread can become something else on the turn of a dime. Anybody not fine with that is welcome to head to the inflatable castle, stage left.
I'm also constantly locking horns on VF with someone I suspect to be He Who Must Not Be Named.
Also had a pleasant, if insipid, exchange with Poofer on FT.
The forums may seem slow these days but there are metaphorical threads running through the lot of them.
I hope you and yours are staying safe, Flea. I hear California's in a bad way.
