Doug Mayer, a volunteer at the museum, witnessed the incident and said the train started moving again roughly 30 seconds after the cyclists were clear.
Mayer said he can't believe how stupid some people are and he sees things like this all the time. He has also seen people climbing over rail cars to avoid waiting for stopped trains and driving around control gates when the train is only two hundred metres away. It is dangerous, he said.

We used to climb over/under trains like this all the time when they were stopped in White Rock. Nothing really inherently dangerous about it as long as you're not a gimp and can move... They don't accelerate fast, and you can easily hear when they start moving again...

I saw CP police arrest a trespasser climbing onto and over a rail car at Keith yard in Calgary recently.
The Darwin Award would've been more completely deserved had another train been coming down the rail in the foreground.

It's not super common, but it does happen occasionally. Death by truck.
Sometimes they'll find a suicide note, and that explains why the crash happened. Sometimes they don't though...

When I first ran my truck, I ran as a sole proprietorship. I'm good at what I do, I thought...
Then I heard from others in this business, and what people will do, and claim, around big rigs. They are a target for every bogus lawsuit known to man...
I quickly LLC'd that shit. I pay more to run it as an LLC, but at least I won't end up homeless.
