This is something I have been saying for many years. I saw it first hand in college and to some degree in HS and it has gotten progressively worse over time.. The blame can be laid squarely on the unionization of our public education system coupled with the creeping crud of progressive ideology in our institutions of higher Ed.
How Modern Education Makes Good Little Marxists
We cannot say we were not warned. Decades ago, in an article perhaps long forgotten, novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand gave an ominous warning on the state of American education at all levels, especially the ideologies and philosophies that were beginning to become pervasive within its university system. Whatever one may think of Rand's novels or personal character, an objective analysis of her work on education specifically displays her thoughts as unquestionably prescient.

I remember my first year in Canada, my teacher forcing the students to make signs opposing former Tory premier Ralph Klein's budget balancing cuts to spending. That white twat should've been fired.

My 3 older daughters went to public school and it was a daily struggle to undue much of the brainwashing and horseshit they were fed in the lower grades....Luckily as they got older and could start to think critically for themselves, it got easier for us to combat. Consequently my kids were seen by some of the teaching staff as rebels and trouble makers because they didn't tow the liberal revisionist line. More than one teacher's conference took place where I had to put some feeble minded, unionized, clueless, "educator" in their place. I remember having my oldest's 4th grade teacher in tears so badly that she had to be excused from the meeting. I kind of feel bad about it now because I was completely ruthless in my appraisal of her teaching ability.
My oldest is a lot like me, from an early age she seemed to be able to intuitively be able to decern bullshit form fact and had an independent mind. With the other two, it was a bit more of a struggle but I like to think they turned out to be independent thinkers as well; at least more independent than most of their peers. Two of them are in college now...The oldest is in veterinary school and number 3 is studying theater. The second oldest...well let's just say she is taking a little longer to find her path but I have no doubt she will get there. My youngest attends private school and as you say it is expensive but she is getting a quality education with a lot less of the brainwashing bullshit heaped on top of it.
BTW, all of them can safely handle, use, field strip and clean just about any firearm you can hand them,... something their grandfather is quite proud of... :laugh3:

America Currently Facing 100-Year Communist Agenda: Filmmaker Curtis Bowers
Filmmaker Curtis Bowers told The Epoch Times' Crossroads in an interview Wednesday that communists in the United States have sought to destroy America with an explicit agenda that includes controlling education, destabilizing the family unit, and promoting dissatisfaction about motherhood.
Bowers discussed a list of 45 communist goals (pdf) that were published in the book "The Naked Communist" and read into the Congressional Record 1963, and how these goals were created to explicitly erode American values and traditions.
Bowers is a former Republican state representative from Idaho, businessman, and filmmaker who produced the documentary "Agenda: Grinding America Down," which details the forces that have been trying to radically remake the United States. His film forecasted much of what is happening in the United States today.
Bowers said the communist's goal #17, "Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks," has largely been achieved and has created many of the problems Americans face today.

There was indoctrination in the classrooms when my kids were in school.

False History Taught in Schools Incites Children to Hate America
President Donald Trump said during the Independence Day celebration at Mount Rushmore on July 3, "Against every law of society and nature, our children are taught in school to hate their own country and to believe that the men and women who built it were not heroes, but that were villains."
"The violent mayhem we have seen in the streets of cities that are run by liberal Democrats, in every case, is the predictable result of years of extreme indoctrination and bias in education, journalism, and other cultural institutions," Trump said.
"He hit the nail right smack on the head. That's what I've been arguing for years," said Newman, co-author of the book "Crimes of the Educators: How Utopians are Using Government Schools to Destroy America's Children."
He said what defines American people as Americans are principles enshrined in the country's founding document, the Declaration of Independence, "that all men are created equal, and that everyone is endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights," Newman said.
However, the history taught in schools has been replaced by a historical narrative that reverses those principles, claiming that the country's founding principles were "slavery, oppression, racism, white supremacy," and similar things, Newman said.
An example of U.S. history reversal is a New York Times series, called the 1619 Project, created by New York Times reporter Nikole Sheri Hannah-Jones, whose opening line of an essay that won her a Pulitzer was, "Our democracy's founding ideals were false when they were written."
According to the 1619 Project, America was founded in 1619 when a group of 20 Africans, who were considered to be the first enslaved Africans in British America, arrived in the colony of Virginia.
The project is "essentially fake history, as historians from across the political spectrum—and even The New York Times' own fact-checker—publicly confirmed," Newman wrote for the Epoch Times.
Despite this criticism, the series, which posits that America was not founded on the basis of liberty in 1776, but on the basis of slavery in 1619, has become school curriculum that is taught across America, Newman said.
According to Hannah-Jones, the notion is that racism and evil are embedded in the very DNA of America, Newman said. Since DNA cannot be changed or removed, "and so what she's really saying—as the mullahs say in Iran—'Death to America.' You've got to kill America to get rid of this horrible DNA," Newman said.
"This could not be more wrong," because America's founding fathers wanted to abolish slavery as it was incompatible with the country's founding principles based on Christian values, Newman said, adding that Thomas Jefferson fought a war against slave catchers in North Africa, and James Madison, the father of the Constitution, "loathed slavery" and expressed this view on many occasions.
Almost every civilization or culture has practiced some form of slavery at a certain point in its history, Newman said.

Trump Signs Executive Order to Promote 'Patriotic Education' Day Before Election
Just a day before Election Day, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to push "patriotic education" by establishing the federal 1776 Commission.
According to details of the executive order published on the White House's website on Monday, the Trump administration noted "recent attacks on our founding have highlighted America's history related to race," adding that they are filled with "one-sided" and "divisive" rhetoric that "ignore or fail to properly honor and recollect the great legacy of the American national experience—our country's valiant and successful effort to shake off the curse of slavery and to use the lessons of that struggle to guide our work toward equal rights for all citizens in the present."
The federal commission will encourage a patriotic view of American history, but it noted that some local schools have control over what curriculum is taught to students. Some Democrats have said they would resist the federal initiative.
"The left has warped, distorted and defiled the American story with deceptions, falsehoods, and lies," Trump said in September. "There's no better example than the New York Times' totally discredited 1619 Project."
He added at the time: "Critical Race Theory, the 1619 Project, and the crusade against American history is toxic propaganda—an ideological poison that, if not removed, will dissolve the civic bonds that tie us together."
Critical race theory is an offshoot of the Karl Marx-influenced critical theory social philosophy that was promoted by the Frankfurt School of thought. Some on the right have said that critical theory and critical race theory are long-term attempts to subvert the American polity to bring about socialism or communism in the United States.

What American Schools Should Teach About Race, Racism, and Slavery
They should, of course, teach students about slavery and racism.
But, if truth and moral clarity are to matter, students must also learn that slavery was universal. They would therefore learn about Muslim-Arab slavery, slavery among Africans, slavery among Native Americans and Native South Americans, and slavery in Asia and India.
They would learn that it was the West, beginning with England and America, that abolished slavery. And they would learn that the abolitionists were overwhelmingly religious Christians, animated by the Bible and Judeo-Christian values.
They would learn that, unlike the slaves under Arab-Muslim rule, most black slaves in America were allowed to have children and form families. They would read Herbert Gutman's "The Black Family in Slavery and Freedom, 1750–1925," about which the NY Times wrote when it was published in 1976: "Gutman has performed an immense service in burying the idea that slavery destroyed the black family." For the record, Gutman was a professor of the left and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
They would learn that the tens of millions of African slaves under Islamic-Arab rule were not allowed to form families (most males were castrated). They would learn that while about 340,000 African slaves were transported to America, 12 million were transported to Brazil. They would learn that far more blacks—about 3 million from Africa and the Caribbean—have come to America willingly than came as slaves.
They would learn about white slavery, too, from one of the greatest economists of the past half-century, Thomas Sowell, who wrote: "More whites were brought as slaves to North Africa than blacks brought as slaves to the United States or to the 13 colonies from which it was formed. White slaves were still being bought and sold in the Ottoman Empire, decades after blacks were freed in the United States."
"While the mortality rate of the slaves being transported across the Atlantic was as high as 10 percent, the percentage of the slaves dying in transit in the trans-Saharan and East African slave market was a staggering 80 to 90 percent.
"While almost all the slaves shipped across the Atlantic were for agricultural work, most of the slaves destined for the Muslim Middle East were for sexual exploitation as concubines in harems and for military service.
"While many children were born to the slaves in the Americas, the millions of their descendants are citizens in Brazil and the United States today, very few descendants of the slaves who ended up in the Middle East survived.
"While most slaves who went to the Americas could marry and have families, most of the male slaves destined for the Middle East were castrated, and most of the children born to the women were killed at birth."
They would read some of the left's favorite "America-is-racist" books, such as the national bestseller "White Fragility." But, unlike any school in America that assigns that book, they would also assign a black professor's review of it. In The Atlantic, John McWhorter, a Columbia University professor of linguistics, wrote that "White Fragility" "is actually a racist tract. ... the book diminishes Black people in the name of dignifying us. ... White guilt and politesse have apparently distracted many readers from the book's numerous obvious flaws. For one, DiAngelo's book is replete with claims that are either plain wrong or bizarrely disconnected from reality."

Education, not indoctrination.
Former NBC and Fox News host Megyn Kelly announced Monday that she plans to leave New York City, claiming that the "far-left" schools in the city "have gone off the deep end."
"The schools have always been far-left, which doesn't align with my own ideology, but I didn't really care, most of my friends are liberals, it's fine. I come from a Democrat family, I'm not offended at all by the ideology, and I lean center-left on some things."
"But they've gone around the bend," she continued. "I mean, they have gone off the deep end."
Kelly mentioned an article written by Orleans Public Education Network Executive Director Nahliah Webber that was reportedly circulated in her sons' school diversity group following the police-involved shooting of George Floyd.
The article, Kelly said, claimed "white school districts across the country [are] full of future killer cops," that "white kids are being indoctrinated in black death" and are "left unchecked and unbothered in their schools."

Teachers unions have been instrumental in keeping American schools online during the pandemic. But some have escalated their positions on reopening to include an array of social justice demands.
A set of demands from teachers unions in July, which addressed how to safely reopen schools amid a pandemic, was criticized by The Wall Street Journal editorial board as "political extortion." The board argued that unions were taking advantage of a health crisis to advance their own ideological agendas and to eliminate competition from charter schools.
"For most Americans the coronavirus is a scourge. But teachers unions seem to think it's also an opportunity—to squeeze more money from taxpayers and put their private and public charter school competition out of business," the board wrote. "Rather than work to open schools safely, the unions are issuing ultimatums and threatening strikes until they are granted their ideological wish list."
"If there's a silver lining here, it's that Americans are getting a closer look at the true, self-interested character of today's teachers unions," The Wall Street Journal editorial board added.
Studies suggest that schools are not the once-feared super spreaders and the positive COVID-19 tests there typically reflect outbreaks in the surrounding community. A survey conducted by Brown University economist Emily Oster in September analyzed data from schools across 47 states. Out of more than 200,000 students and 63,000 staff tested, the study found an infection rate among staff at 0.24% and 0.13% among students.
United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) made a list of demands in a July policy paper to safely reopen L.A. schools, The Daily Wire reported. The list included a plea for local help to defund police department as well as an effort to close charter schools — their competition.
High School Teacher: Children Are Taught That Socialism Is Good
Lisa Hunter, a high school history teacher, attended rallies in Washington D.C. on Saturday and told NTD that children at school are taught that America is bad and socialism is good.
"I know that's happening anymore in today's textbooks. In fact, they're teaching how America was bad in our history, which is sad because it's not. It's been a very good country," Hunter said. "Why does everybody want to come here? Everybody wants to come to America because they want freedom."
"That freedom is being lost right now," Hunter stressed.
"It is scary to think of what our children are being taught in the textbooks, that they are being taught that America has done bad things, and we need to change and that socialism is good."
Hunter said she's depressed that children in school and universities are being taught this way. She thought people should "standing up for the truth."
"It might be a long process, but doesn't matter who we're talking to," Hunter continued. "Just keep telling the truth."

Trump Nominates Charlie Kirk, Several Others To New Commission That Counters 1619 Project

President Donald Trump announced 18 individuals who he intends to appoint Friday as two-year members of the President's Advisory 1776 Commission.
Trump first announced the initiative in September and slammed The New York Times' "1619 Project," which pushes slavery to the center of America's founding. The 1776 Commission "will work to improve understanding of the history and the principles of the founding of the United States among our Nation's rising generations," according to a previous press release.
The president previously called the "1619 Project" a "crusade against American history." It has been implemented in schools across the country and criticized by some historians. The president also accused the project of being "toxic propaganda, ideological poison that, if not removed, will dissolve the civic bonds that tie us together" and "destroy our country."
While the executive order Trump signed in early November doesn't directly name the NYT's project, it includes similar language that the president has previously used in denouncing the initiative.
"Despite the virtues and accomplishments of this Nation, many students are now taught in school to hate their own country, and to believe that the men and women who built it were not heroes, but rather villains," according to the executive order. "This radicalized view of American history lacks perspective, obscures virtues, twists motives, ignores or distorts facts, and magnifies flaws, resulting in the truth being concealed and history disfigured."
There's mind warping child abuse in public schools in North America's public schools.
This is from an exclusive private school that brainwashes the brats of rich liberals to be intolerant elitist hypocrites.
Elite NYC Prep School's Faculty Issues Racist Demands
Do you live in New York City?
If not, congratulations. You may have been spared preposterous virtue-signaling Petri dishes like The Dalton School, an "elite" school on Manhattan's Upper East Side, where for a mere $54,000 per annum, young Stephanie or Dylan can spend their days on Zoom because the school, unlike almost every other New York private school, refuses to open because of lazy teachers claiming to be terrified of our latest Chinese import, the CCP virus.
"Go Forth Unafraid" is Dalton's official motto, but that's obviously a misnomer.
The school is terrified of life and exists solely to cater to the wounded "amour propre" of its self-absorbed faculty and the roughly 1,300 K–12 students whose parents desperately hope that Dalton will be their child's magic ticket to the advanced indoctrination and higher fatuousness of the Ivy League.
It's a pathetic ambition, more so every year as the moral bankruptcy of America's higher educational establishment declares itself in ever more putrid profusion, like the gangrenous suppurations of the Emperor Galerius on his death bed.
Even the things you think might be candid in Dalton's PR turn out to be lies.
Consider, for example, its much-ballyhooed "Commitment to Anti-Racism." (Surgeon General's Warning: have some Dramamine or an air-sickness bag handy.)
This desideratum is plastered all over Dalton's web site.
But a closer look shows that it is really just code for the more insidious racism of the woke and malignant charlatans who view every aspect of life through the distorting prism of race. They believe they declare their election by broadcasting their obsession with race.
In fact, they merely underscore their rejection of Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision of a world in which people are judged by the "content of their character" not the color of their skin.
Dalton has always been a faintly preposterous left-wing redoubt for the self-absorbed and overprivileged.
But it has lately, under pressure from the very public exhibitions of Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and other anti-American racialist thugs, turned the corner from progressive fatuousness to preposterous insanity.
The whole sorry story of Dalton's terminal decline was laid out by the novelist Scott Johnston in a couple of blog posts last week. (By the way, I recommend Johnston's novel "Campusland": it's both funny and true.)
Johnston reports on an eight-page faculty memo, signed by all or nearly all of the faculty and added to by some black students, listing a series of demands that are, as Johnston notes, "breathtaking in their wokeness."
The demands begin with the assertion—de rigueur in any academic communication today, much like PBUH after any mention of Mohammed by devout Muslims—that Dalton is guilty of "systemic racism."
Then come the demands. Here is a précis compiled by Johnston:
"Here is just a sample of the demands:
The hiring of twelve (!) full time diversity officers
An additional full time employee whose "entire role is to support Black students who come forward with complaints."
Hiring of multiple psychologists with "specialization on the psychological issues affecting ethnic minority populations."
Pay off student debt of incoming black faculty. (!!)
Re-route 50 percent of all donations to NYC public schools. (Hello?)
Elimination of AP courses if black students don't score as high as white.
Required courses on "Black liberation."
Reduced tuition for black students whose photographs appear in school promotional materials.
Public "anti-racism" statements required from all employees.
Mandatory "Community and Diversity Days" to be held "throughout the year."
Required anti-bias training to be conducted every year for all staff and parent volunteers.
Mandatory minority representation in (otherwise elective) student leadership roles.
Mandatory diversity plot lines in school plays.
Overhaul of entire curriculum to reflect diversity narratives."
Some of these proposals are illegal, since they require treating students differently solely on the basis of race; nearly all are explicitly racist, for the same reason; and some would be financially ruinous if implemented.
Just for fun, I'd like to be in on the meeting when a Dalton development officer explains to his well-heeled mark, er, I mean his well-heeled prospect that the $5 million he is asking for will be split with New York City Public Schools.
That would be a fun meeting, unless, of course, you weren't counting on getting the money.
The sad irony is (though not so sad as to escape the delectation of schadenfreude) that the pursuit of such "progressive" insanity will doom Dalton.
The Revolution always turns on its own. As Johnston puts it, "When progressive institutions embrace revolutionary ideologies, as Dalton has done, they fail to appreciate that the revolution comes for them first. The scaffolding is being built on East 89th Street."
There is also the pushback. Parents are yanking their children out of the cesspit that is Dalton, donors are closing their checkbooks, and I would be willing to wager that serious colleges will look askance at Dalton's experiment with academic hari-kari.
There's also the court of public opinion. Doubtless, the Eloi-like denizens of Dalton expected to be lauded for their "brave" proclamations of "anti-racism."
Most of the comments on Johnston's columns show that these juvenile antics are being met with some portion of the contempt that they deserve. Typical is this bulletin from "Anonymous":
"Your demands are stupid and you people are stupid. Critical Race Theory is a stupid religion and a scam but I actually hope the school meets all of these ridiculous demands just to watch it implode just like Evergreen hahahahaha. CRT is a gift that destroys everything it touches. Enjoy being racist fanatics while you can because the world is waking up to your bullshit gift. You people are the real racists."

High School Student Sues Over Leftist 'Indoctrination' in Nevada
A high school senior of mixed race is suing a taxpayer-funded charter school in Nevada over the "coercive, ideological indoctrination" that is central to its Critical Race Theory-based curriculum that forces students to associate aspects of their identity with oppression.
In the lawsuit, Clark v. State Public Charter School Authority, filed Dec. 22 in federal court in Nevada, the young plaintiff William Clark and his mother Gabrielle Clark claim their First and Fourteenth Amendment rights were being violated. Students were allegedly told that by refusing to identify with an oppressive group, they were exercising their privilege or underscoring their role as an oppressor.
The lawsuit was filed by the Illinois-based group Schoolhouse Rights, whose website describes its mission as supporting "civil rights litigation in defense of students' freedom of conscience in public education and the rights of parents to guide and direct the upbringing of their children."
The student at Democracy Prep in Las Vegas whose mother is black and deceased father was white, claims there was a hostile classroom environment, and that he felt discriminated against in the mandatory, year-long "Sociology of Change" course required for graduation. There is another required class, "Change the World," in which students carry out a political or social work project.
Because the so-called civics curriculum implemented by new management carried the same name as the previous curriculum, parents like Mrs. Clark "were not aware of the turn towards coercive, ideological indoctrination until they began seeing the detrimental effects it worked upon their children," the legal complaint states.
The new curriculum "inserted consciousness raising and conditioning exercises under the banner of 'Intersectionality' and 'Critical Race Theory.' These sessions ... are not descriptive or informational in nature, but normative and prescriptive: they require pupils to 'unlearn' and 'fight back' against 'oppressive' structures allegedly implicit in their family arrangements, religious beliefs and practices, racial, sexual, and gender identities, all of which they are required to divulge and subject to non-private interrogation."
William was directed "in class to 'unlearn' the basic Judeo-Christian principles [his mother] imparted to him, and then [the school] retaliated against [him]."
"Some racial, sexual, gender and religious identities, once revealed," the complaint states, "are officially singled out in the programming as inherently problematic, and assigned pejorative moral attributes by Defendants."
The school principal told Mrs. Clark "that the theoretical basis of the revamped 'Sociology of Change' course is known as 'intersectionality,' and is inspired by political activist, academic and 'Critical Race Theory' proponent Kimberlé Crenshaw," the complaint states. Crenshaw is a law professor at UCLA and Columbia Law School who is regarded as a leading authority on black feminist legal theory and is said to have coined the term "intersectionality."
William Clark was required for assignments the legal complaint says "to reveal his racial, sexual, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities and religious identities," by his teacher who greeted the students by saying, "Hello my wonderful social justice warriors!" Clark was told the next step would be to determine if parts of his identity "have privilege or oppression attached to it." Privilege was defined as "the inherent belief in the inferiority of the oppressed group."
The legal argument the Clarks make is that William is being compelled "to make professions about his racial, sexual, gender and religious identities in verbal class exercises and in graded, written homework assignments which were subject to the scrutiny, interrogation and derogatory labeling of students, teachers and school administrators." The defendants "are coercing him to accept and affirm politicized and discriminatory principles and statements that he cannot in conscience affirm."
The school repeatedly threatened William "with material harm including a failing grade and non-graduation if he failed to comply with their requirements," the complaint states, and refused to accommodate his requests for reasonable accommodation.

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos on Tuesday warned in an op-ed that "insidious lies" about U.S. history are being taught in American schools, praising the Trump administration's effort to counter such anti-American indoctrination.
DeVos specifically called out the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1619 Project, which she described as "a debunked reframing of history."
Spearheaded by New York Times reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones, the project centers around the idea that the United States is an inherently racist nation built upon slavery. It consists of a collection of essays that argue, among many other controversial claims, that the republic's founding ideals of liberty and equality "were false when they were written," and that the primary reason for the American Revolution was to preserve slavery.
A curriculum based on the project, developed by the Pulitzer Center, has made its way into public school districts across the nation, notably in Buffalo, Chicago, Newark, and Washington. According to the center, some 4,500 classrooms have updated their history curricula to include "the work of Hannah-Jones and her collaborators" since August 2019.
"From the beginning, this historical revisionist campaign was intent on infiltrating America's schools and infecting young American minds," DeVos wrote. "It was easier to do because so few students were learning history or civics as they should."
DeVos also highlighted the lack of reasonable knowledge of U.S. history among high school students, pointing to the latest national assessment report which shows that most eighth-graders don't know what the Lincoln-Douglas debates were about.
She then praised the 1776 Commission, a presidential initiative in response to the 1619 Project, for meeting parents' demand to make the pursuit of freedom, instead of slavery, the center of the national narrative again.
They should face discipline up to and including dismissal.
Chicago Schools Chief: Half of Teachers Pressured by Teachers' Union Didn't Show up for Work
Nearly half of the teachers in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) district didn't show up when they were ordered to return for in-person instructions after the winter break, a district official said.
Janice Jackson, the CEO of the public school district serving some 340,000 students, said in a Tuesday press conference that a little more than 60 percent of all school-based staff have returned to classrooms as expected. That accounts for about half of teachers and three-quarters of assistant and support staff.
Jackson said the number of employees who didn't return was "significant, considering the fact that they were pressured" by the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU), which has been urging teachers and staff to stay out of classrooms since the early days of the CCP virus pandemic.
CPS has informed those who were expected to return but didn't that their absence was not excused, Jackson said, noting that the district has an "absent without leave policy," through which "individuals who are refusing to report to work and who will be considered absent without leave will face progressive discipline."
"We have sent notices to staff who did not return to ensure that our expectations are clear, and we are optimistic that more staff will report to work in the coming days," she said. "If staff choose not to attend and support the students who are relying on them, we will handle those on a school-by-school and case-by-case basis."
Jackson noted that the all-remote learning is failing many students across the city, especially those from black and Latino families.

Report: California elementary school instructs third-graders to rank themselves based on their 'power and privilege'

A California elementary school is pushing critical race theory on third-grade students, according to a new report. A teacher at an elementary school in Cupertino allegedly instructed third-graders to rank themselves based on their "power and privilege" during a m
A third-grade teacher at the R.I. Meyerholz Elementary School "told the eight- and nine-year-old students that they live in a 'dominant culture' of 'white, middle class, cisgender, educated, able-bodied, Christian(s)' who 'created and maintained' this culture in order 'to hold power and stay in power,'" according to Christopher F. Rufo, contributing editor of City Journal. The students live in a city where 67% of the population is Asian-American and the median household income is $171,917.
Based on reported whistleblower documents and testimonials from parents "familiar with the session," the teacher read from "This Book Is Anti-Racist: 20 Lessons on How to Wake Up, Take Action, and Do the Work," which is rated appropriate for children ages 11+, according to Common Sense Media.
A summary of the book from the Olathe Public Library states:
This book is written for the young person who doesn't know how to speak up to the racist adults in their life. For the 14 year old who sees injustice at school and isn't able to understand the role racism plays in separating them from their friends. For the kid who spends years trying to fit into the dominant culture and loses themselves for a little while. It's for all of the Black and Brown children who have been harmed (physically and emotionally) because no one stood up for them or they couldn't stand up for themselves; because the colour of their skin, the texture of their hair, their names made white folx feel scared and threatened. It is written so children and young adults will feel empowered to stand up to the adults who continue to close doors in their faces. This book will give them the language and ability to understand racism and a drive to undo it. In short, it is for everyone.
Rufo wrote in the City Journal, "Students learned that 'those with privilege have power over others' and that 'folx who do not benefit from their social identities, who are in the subordinate culture, have little to no privilege and power.'"
"As an example, the reading states that 'a white, cisgender man, who is able-bodied, heterosexual, considered handsome and speaks English has more privilege than a Black transgender woman," the report stated.
The R.I. Meyerholz Elementary School teacher allegedly pushed the "principle of intersectionality" on the young children and claimed that those who don't hold power are oppressed.
The educator purportedly commanded the students to create an "identity map," where the children listed their "race, class, gender, religion, family structure, and other characteristics." The teacher then instructed the third-graders to "circle the identities that hold power and privilege" on their identity maps, according to the report. Then the students were allegedly told to rank their "traits according to the hierarchy."

Rufo said he spoke to some of the parents of children who were being taught critical race theory. A parent who grew up in China compared critical race theory to the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
"(It divides society between) the oppressor and the oppressed, and since these identities are inborn characteristics people cannot change, the only way to change it is via violent revolution," the parent said. "Growing up in China, I had learned it many times. The outcome is the family will be ripped apart; husband hates wife, children hate parents. I think it is already happening here."
"We were shocked," one anonymous parent told Rufo.
"They were basically teaching racism to my eight-year-old," said an Asian-American parent, who reportedly "rallied a group of a half-dozen families to protest the school's intersectionality curriculum."
The parents who were against the "woke" lesson plans reportedly met with the school's administration. "The administration agreed to suspend the program," the report stated. "When reached for comment, Jenn Lashier, the principal of Meyerholz Elementary, said that the training was not part of the 'formal curricula, but the process of daily learning facilitated by a certified teacher.'"

Any so called techer who warp's a child' mind like that should lose their teaching license.

I feel bad for white American kids from working class families. Their country hates them.
Trump's 1776 Commission Calls for National Unity Around America's Founding Values
President Donald Trump's advisory 1776 Commission on Monday released a public report, fulfilling its task to revisit the nation's founding history in an effort to reunite the Americans around its founders' principles.
Americans today are "deeply divided" about the meaning of their country, its history, and how it should be governed, according to the commission, which was created in the final year of Trump's first term, amid an increasingly popular trend of portraying the American story as one that based on racism and oppression.
"Neither America nor any other nation has perfectly lived up to the universal truths of equality, liberty, justice and government by consent," the report reads, following an re-examination of the principles and ideals enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. "But no nation before America ever dared state those truths as the formal basis for its politics, and none has strived harder, or done more, to achieve them."
The authors dedicated a large portion of the report exploring challenges to American's founding principles. Some of these are historical, such as slavery, which is fundamentally incompatible with the idea that "all men are created equal." Others are more contemporary, such as progressivism, which holds that the Constitution should constantly evolve to secure evolving rights; fascist and communist movements seeking a totalitarian government with no respect for individual rights; and modern identity politics in favor of a system of explicit group privilege in the name of "social justice."
"The arguments, tactics, and names of these movements have changed, and the magnitude of the challenge has varied, yet they are all united by adherence to the same falsehood—that people do not have equal worth and equal rights," the report states.
The report warns of the dangers of modern political movements departing from America's founding principles, noting that many of the historical movements were successful because they help up those principles, rather than breaking from them.
"Great reforms—like abolition, women's suffrage, anti-Communism, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Pro-Life Movement—have often come forward that improve our dedication to the principles of the Declaration of Independence under the Constitution," the authors wrote.
The report calls for a "national renewal" of education to teach the future American citizens the founding principles and the character necessary to live out those principles. A patriotic education, according to the authors, doesn't mean ignoring the faults in the nation's past, but rather viewing the history in a clear and wholesome manner, with reverence and love.
American colleges and universities are doing the exact opposite, the report warns, noting that they've become "hotbeds of anti-Americanism, libel, and censorship," with the intention to "manipulate opinions more than educate minds."
The authors specifically called out historian Howard Zinn and the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1619 Project for preventing students from seeing the humanity, goodness, and benevolence in America's historical figures. Instead, they present their young readers with a distorted version of American history.
"Historical revisionism that tramples honest scholarship and historical truth, shames Americans by highlighting only the sins of their ancestors, and teaches claims of systemic racism that can only be eliminated by more discrimination, is an ideology intended to manipulate opinions more than educate minds," the report reads.
The renewal of American unity will depend on every American willing to stand up against tyranny in their everyday life, the author said.
"Above all, we must stand up to the petty tyrants in every sphere who demand that we speak only of America's sins while denying her greatness," the report states. "At home, in school, at the workplace, and in the world, it is the people—and only the people—who have the power to stand up for America and defend our way of life."

Chicago teacher says in-person schooling allows white people to kill black families: 'If we do not speak up, nice white parents will get us killed'
A Chicago public school teacher says that in-person schooling amid the COVID-19 pandemic permits "nice white parents" to kill black families.
In an essay published Monday in the Education Post, Chicago public school teacher Mike Friedberg said that the city is catering to white parents' demands in reopening schools amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The essay, titled, "Are We Going to Let 'Nice White Parents' Kill Black and Brown Families?" explained how Friedberg feels that white people are comfortable sacrificing the lives of black and brown families in order to force a return to a normal way of life.
"A new COVID-19 strain is more contagious than ever," he wrote. "The Trump administration's sheer neglect in the face of this deadly pandemic is enraging. Federal inaction has cost lives, and we are far from getting back to a daily normal life. Schools are no exception to this situation. Given the plans to offer vaccines to teachers over the next several weeks, it does not make sense now to force children and staff back into the building."

A Chicago public school teacher says that in-person schooling amid the COVID-19 pandemic permits "nice white parents" to kill black families.
POLL: Have you gotten the COVID-19 vaccine yet?
What are the details?
Friedberg added, "Students, parents, and teachers are fearing for their lives," and pointed out that the city is "catering to the minority of parents" who demand school reopening.
"As the reopening debate gets hotter," he explained, "we are seeing a new breed of 'nice white parents' emerge. The parents who wished to open school buildings are disproportionately white. In meeting after meeting, I have witnessed black and Latinx parents voice concerns."
Recent findings from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that "students and teachers may be able to safely return to in-person instruction, even in communities with widespread coronavirus infection" so long as safety practices — including masking, social distancing, and proper disinfection protocols — are put in place.
Friedberg argued, however, that many Chicago-area schools are not "adequately equipped to take all the necessary preventative and protective measures."
"Here in Chicago, I have spoken with scores of teachers who do not have adequate HVAC systems in their buildings," he explained. "Some teachers were given air purifiers that only cover 500 square feet, vastly smaller than most classrooms. ... If we open schools in communities with higher positivity rates, especially when those schools are not adequately supplied with protective measures, the risk to staff, students, and families is much higher."
He added, "I do not want to risk my students' lives or my own."
Making an argument for remote learning, Friedberg said that he and his colleagues have been "working harder than ever" in order to deliver students and their families "high-quality instruction."
"Students can still learn remotely and have an engaging, rigorous curriculum," he added. "As an instructor, this is what I'm doing for my students, including focusing on research-based student choice activities. As a parent, that is what I am witnessing for my own children."
Friedberg pointed out that if people kowtow to the demands of white parents, then those voices will be placed above the demands of those from black and brown parents.
"Are we really at a point where not wanting our students to die, and not wanting to die ourselves, is a point of debate?" he asked. "This is completely absurd. We are putting the voices of white parents above black and brown parents, as well as teachers and all school staff, including disproportionately women of color."
He concluded, "As a teacher, I fear for my own life and the lives of my students and their families. I can't teach from the grave, nor can kids learn from there. If we do not speak up, nice white parents will get us killed."

Fifth graders forced to celebrate 'black communism,' hold mock 'Black Power' rally for Angela Davis, define 'communist' in 'favorable terms'
A Pennsylvania school is under fire after fifth graders were reportedly forced to celebrate black communism and hold a mock "Black Power" rally amid Black History Month celebrations.
What are the details?
Students in one Philadelphia elementary school were allegedly forced to celebrate "black communism" and endure a mock Black Power rally in order to "free" Angela Davis, outspoken radical political activist, from "jail."
Christopher Rufo, a contributing editor at the City Journal, detailed the alleged activities — which he says were outlined by whistleblower documents — and said that he spoke with a school source that corroborated the details.

6th grade choir teacher separates kids into 'privileged' and 'targeted' groups in lesson on 'oppression'
Parents, be aware

A middle school choir teacher in Minnesota recently taught a class full of sixth-graders about various "types of oppression" by separating students into "privileged" and "targeted" categories, during what the school called a "social-emotional lesson."
The revelation is just the latest example of educators and administrators force-feeding critical race theory and progressive political ideology to young, impressionable students — often while the social engineering campaign goes completely unnoticed by parents.
What are the details?
Far from receiving musical instruction, students at Sunrise Park Middle School near St. Paul, Minnesota, recently received a heavy dose of intersectional brainwashing from their choir teacher, Odelis Anderson, according to lesson plan documents obtained by TheBlaze.
Then, according to the lesson plan, which the school confirmed as real in an email to TheBlaze, students were asked to view a chart describing different types of oppression as well as "privileged groups" and "targeted groups" and assess which category they belonged in.
The chart listed five types of oppression for the students' consideration: Racism, sexism, religious oppression, heterosexism, and xenophobia.
The "privileged groups" outlined in the chart consisted of individuals who are white, male, Christian, heterosexual, and were born in the United States. The "targeted groups" described individuals who are any ethnicity besides white, who are female, who are Muslim or have any religious affiliation besides Christianity, identify as LGBT, and were not born in the United States.
Anderson, whose LinkedIn profile touts her commitment to offering "socially diverse and just education to ALL learners," presented the lesson to students over video conference last month. The school's overarching district, White Bear Lake Area Schools, offers distance learning options amid the coronavirus pandemic.
TheBlaze reached out to Anderson with a request for comment about the lesson plan, but she has yet to respond.
What else?
In an email exchange with TheBlaze, White Bear Lake Area Schools director of communications Marisa Vette confirmed the details of the lesson plan in full.
In the email, Vette explained that the purpose of the lesson was "to help students understand that everyone is different and everyone experiences the world differently," adding, "We wanted our students to listen to each other's perspectives and put themselves in others' shoes."
She also noted the activity is a part of a series of "social-emotional lesson(s)" conducted by the school during the homeroom hour "a couple times a week," in which students are instructed about a number of topics, "including self awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making."
With the homeroom hour being dropped amid the school's distance learning program, teachers have conducted the lesson during their first-period classes, she explained. Thus the reason for choir class featuring the "social-emotional" content.
"It is our responsibility to ensure that each of our students' needs are being met," added Superintendent Wayne Kazmierczak in a statement. "We know from listening to our students that our continued and sustained commitment to educational equity is a critical part of how we achieve our stated district mission and close gaps that currently exist in our student outcome measures."
In an introductory note, Anderson told students, "Last week, we talked about how hard it is to talk about race, and the level of difficulty is different for different people. For people who are privileged, it's much easier to talk about race and other issues. For people who are not privileged, it's much harder. Today, we will look at different types of oppression, and whether each of us is in the privileged group or the targeted group."

Liberal bias in Canadian universities is a fact, study says
The great American conservative philosopher Thomas Sowell once quipped: "The next time some academics tell you how important diversity is, ask how many Republicans there are in their sociology department."
Now, the author of a new academic study surveying professors and graduate students in university social science and humanities departments in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., says his findings provide, "hard data on the absence of viewpoint diversity (in universities) and the presence of discrimination against conservative and gender-critical scholars."
"We found that most academics don't support cancel culture, but a large minority — in some cases a majority — discriminate against conservatives and gender-critical scholars" said Eric Kaufmann, a professor of politics at Birkbeck College of the University of London.
"In addition, younger academics are more intolerant of older scholars, suggesting trouble for defenders of academic freedom in the years to come."
His report, "Academic Freedom in Crisis: Punishment, Political Discrimination and Self-Censorship" done for the Centre for the Study of Partisanship and Ideology — found that in Canada:
— 73% of academics sampled from 40 top-ranked Canadian universities identified as left-wing, 4% as right-wing.
— 60% of conservative academics say there is a hostile climate to their beliefs in their departments, compared to only 9% for liberal academics who felt this way about their beliefs.
— 45% of liberal academics would not hire a professor solely for expressing support for former U.S. president Donald Trump.
— only 27% would be comfortable having lunch with a gender-critical scholar who opposes the idea of a trans woman accessing women's shelters.
— Younger academics were twice as likely to support dismissing controversial conservative professors compared to older academics, with 41% under the age of 40 supporting at least one of four hypothetical dismissal campaigns.
— 7% of academics voted for the federal Conservatives in the last election, compared to more than 34% of voters.
Kaufmann said because of liberal bias, many conservative students self-select away from academia as a career, while conservative professors tend to retire early, making the problem of liberal bias worse over time.
Conservative scholars said they avoid asking questions about controversial issues that go against the progressive consensus in their departments, out of fear for their careers.
Kaufmann said while most liberal academics don't fit the stereotype of hard-left radicals and it's simplistic to describe universities as hard-left monocultures, there are serious and growing problems with liberal bias.
While only one in 10 liberal professors surveyed advocated firing conservative colleagues for expressing controversial views, "a growing minority discriminates against them and isn't actively opposed to their cancellation. This helps explain why there isn't enough internal pressure to protect academic freedom. The problem is now spilling off campus.
"None of this is because liberals are particularly prone to discriminate," Kaufmann said. "In fact, liberals and conservatives in academia discriminate at similar rates. The difference is that many more scholars lean left, meaning that the impact of discrimination falls overwhelmingly on conservatives, a serious issue.
"The problem of progressive liberalism has persisted for four decades," Kaufmann concludes.
"Universities cannot reform themselves and require external intervention. A promising model involves annual auditing from provincial and federal governments to ensure that public universities are adhering to the law on freedom of expression and not engaging in discrimination against political minorities."
Premier Doug Ford's government in Ontario has introduced a free speech policy for provincial universities.
Such policies are controversial and generally opposed by universities, who see them as an attack on their academic freedom.

It's PHILADELPHIA,... The school is probably 99% black, FFS....They do that shit whether it is organized by a teacher or not....If they aren't out raising a black power fist, they're smoking weed or sexually assaulting a teacher in the bathroom or stealing basketball shoes or planning their first "drive by" as soon as they are old enough...."The City of Brotherly Love" is anything but. Philly was a hole back when I was in college, it has gotten infinitely worse since.
Philly is just another example of social failure fostered by half a century of democrap political control.

Republican States Push Back Against Critical Race Theory
Republicans in at least seven states have introduced proposals that would ban the teaching concepts of the quasi-Marxist critical race theory (CRT). The measures range from banning government agencies from conducting training based on the theory to prohibiting the incorporation of the concepts into school curricula.
The efforts follow President Joe Biden's reversal of last year's executive order by President Donald Trump that banned federal agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and grantees from instructing their employees to follow CRT tenets.
CRT has gradually proliferated in recent decades through academia, government structures, school systems, and the corporate world. It redefines human history as a struggle between the "oppressors" (white people) and the "oppressed" (everybody else), similarly to Marxism's reduction of history to a struggle between the "bourgeois" and the "proletariat." It labels institutions that emerged in majority-white societies as racist and "white supremacist."
Like Marxism, it advocates for the destruction of institutions, such as the Western justice system, free-market economy, and orthodox religions, while demanding that they be replaced with institutions compliant with the CRT ideology.

An Iowa State University professor raised eyebrows after revealing that she limits "interactions" with white people "as much as possible."
She also complained that white men "with dirty hair and wrinkled clothes" will always be "liked and higher ranked."
The professor's tweets are protected at the time of this reporting.
What are the details?
According to a Tuesday report from Campus Reform, Professor Rita Mookerjee, who spoke on a student government "Diversity and Inclusion Panel in March," reportedly tweeted that she tries to "limit my interactions with yt people as much as possible."
"I can't with the self-importance and performance esp during Black History Month," she said in a since-deleted tweet.
Iowa State's Young Americans for Freedom tweeted about Mookerjee's remarks and wrote, "ISUStuGov, do you still plan on hosting this professor for Women's Week after she has made repeated racist claims against women of a different race?"

Critical Race Theory Indoctrination in Schools Dehumanizes Asian Families
Asra Nomani, a former Wall Street Journal reporter and parent in Fairfax County, Virginia, said she never before experienced the kind of prejudice and discrimination she has encountered over the last year from those pushing critical race theory in her local school district.
"It just all began with an email in June 2020," Nomani told host Jan Jekielek. In that email, which was sent to mostly immigrant families, the school's principal said they need to check their "privileges" in the wake of George Floyd's death.
"And we were just shocked, because this was a woman who has gone to our Lunar New Year celebrations and our Diwali parties, and she knows that we are families from all across the world," said Nomani, whose Muslim family immigrated to the United States from India when she was four years old. "They are amazing, amazing families who have endured a lot to get to America, and the fact that our kids go to this school doesn't put us in this vaulted category of the privilege of society."
"We were just normal people trying to make ends meet, trying to keep our kids healthy, trying to make sure that they get a good night's rest. It was like a knife to the heart," she continued. "I just thought to myself, 'Wow, like, overnight we just lost our humanity.' That really made me angry, because that's not OK."
The Fairfax County school board, according to Nomani, has since proceeded to introduce a series of changes, such as replacing a so-called "colonial" mascot, dropping the name of Thomas Jefferson, and replacing the race-blind admissions process with race-based lotteries and quotas in an effort to make the demographics of the student population better match that of the county.
"It was racial demographics," she said. "It was that we didn't have enough underrepresented minorities, meaning blacks and Hispanics, and we had too many Asians."
Parents need to be clear that those changes are implemented to indoctrinate young children with critical race theory, Nomani warned, dismissing a narrative that there is no critical race theory outside colleges, where it is only taught from a legal perspective.
"Do you think we're that stupid? We know that you're not teaching the pedagogy of critical race theory. What you're teaching is the end product—that there's oppressed and oppressors, that we have a hierarchy of suffering, and you have to find yourself on this," she explained. "It's propaganda, flat out propaganda."
"This is not just theory," she added. "This has now become worksheets in classrooms, where kids literally have to fill out their oppression, where they fit on the oppression scale. They get segregated—can you just imagine? It's this 21st century and we are now segregating children based on race."
Nomani, who identifies as a liberal, urged parents, regardless of their political affiliation, to join forces against the indoctrination effort she describes as racist and inhumane.
"This is my liberal community that's pushing out this racism, and I'm going to really call them out on it, because they're just doing something that is so wrong and immoral," she said. "We have to keep as our North Star, whether you're liberal, conservative, independent, whatever, wherever you are, our North Star of humanity, and to stay focused on that."

Former teachers union president reveals why he went from fighting against charter schools to promoting them: 'They're bad for unions, not for kids'
https://www.theblaze.com/news/former-teachers-union-president-charter-schools?utm_source=theblaze-breaking&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20210527Trending-HSValedictorian&utm_term=ACTIVE%20LIST%20-%20TheBlaze%20Breaking%20News (https://www.theblaze.com/news/former-teachers-union-president-charter-schools?utm_source=theblaze-breaking&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20210527Trending-HSValedictorian&utm_term=ACTIVE%20LIST%20-%20TheBlaze%20Breaking%20News)
It's no secret that teachers unions are strident opponents of charter schools — despite the fact that charter schools are simply independently operated public schools.
Charters are a form of school choice that the unions fear will one day lead to education vouchers, which will allow students to receive government dollars to escape the many failing public schools that unions have so long dominated. The schools also have the freedom to create classrooms that meet students' needs and hire non-union employees.
Now a former teachers union president is explaining why he went from fighting against charter schools to advocating for them.
What did he say?
George Parker spent 30 years as a math teacher in low-performing schools in Washington, D.C., and then six years as president of the Washington Teachers' Union. A onetime opponent of charter schools, he's now a senior adviser at the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.
In a new op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, Parker explained why he made such a dramatic transition: Despite claims by the unions that charter schools are unaccountable impediments to kids' educations, he finally realized that charters were not a threat to students but to unions.
"Too many teachers oppose them because they're bad for unions, not kids," the subtitle on Parker's article declared.
🔇X
Parker began with a memory of telling a group of children that he was focused on making "sure their teachers had what they needed to do their jobs" and "to help them become the best teachers they could be.
"But I knew that wasn't always the case," he lamented, adding:
Like many union leaders, I had relentlessly negotiated contracts that protected not only teachers' rights, but their wrongs. As I drove home, I thought about the $10,000 my union had spent to keep a poorly performing teacher in the classroom—not because she deserved another chance, but because of a technicality.
After three decades as a teacher in D.C.'s lousy public schools, he said it was "natural to become an advocate for the profession."
But after a few years, he realized a problem: "Somewhere along the way I became more of a union leader than an educational leader."
It's time to do what's best for the kids, not unions
Now, with the pandemic coming to an end and millions of children across the country having been locked out of their schools for an entire year, it's time unions understand "the need to be nimble, to serve the needs of children and families where they are."
"We will fail our children and our teachers if we return to a pre-pandemic educational system," Parker wrote. "Unfortunately, many teacher unions want to limit access to quality education for underserved kids."
It's time to do what's best for the kids, not what's best for the unions, he added.
"I used to oppose charter schools, not because they were bad for kids, but because they were bad for unions," Parker said. "Some call it a binary choice: You either support teachers unions or you support charter schools. Nowadays I disagree. ... I'm still a union member. But I now work on behalf of charter schools."
More from Parker:
Charter schools are also public schools. All of them. They provide more than three million students, mostly black and Hispanic, access to a quality public education. They are innovative and student-centered. They break down barriers that have kept families of color from the educational opportunities they deserve. Another two million children would attend charter schools if there were space for them. How could I work against these kids?
All too often charter critics get caught up denigrating "the system" and forget the duty to do whatever it takes to provide all children with access to high-quality public schools, no matter their race, ethnicity or ZIP Code.
Parker closes with a warning: Charter schools are leading the way for great options for our kids, and "If anyone says differently, keep in mind the messenger."

The teacher, Byron "Tanner" Cross, made the defiant declaration at a Loudon County school board meeting on Tuesday, according to the nonprofit group, Parents Against Critical Race Theory.

The truth finally came out.
Teachers unions and activists held rallies in 22 cities to support critical race theory. What they said was eye-popping. They unabashedly declared that their goal is indoctrinating students in far-left causes.
The Zinn Education Project, which organized Saturday's events, produces race-centric material for junior high and high schools across the country. Lesson plans are offered free for teachers to download. Parents wondering where the critical race theory their children are getting comes from can go to the website. They'll be shocked.
Zinn was founded by the late Howard Zinn, a Marxist historian who said that teaching social studies wasn't about dates and events. It was to make students want to change the world, overthrowing the status quo.
A Zinn lesson called "Students Design a Reparations Bill" explains that students will be asked to improve on the "flimsy" reparations bills currently in Congress. Critical thinking isn't encouraged. This isn't a debate about whether there should be reparations. This is one-sided indoctrination. "As racial justice activists, student are all on the 'same side,' in this role play," says the Zinn website.
Other extreme left groups supplying social studies materials for schools include the Southern Poverty Law Center and Black Lives Matter at School. SPLC tells educators to stand their ground against parents "and vigorously resist efforts to maintain the status quo." No wonder parents are getting the run around.
It's not just white families protesting. Keisha King, a black mother from Duval County, Florida, warned the Florida Board of Education that telling a child he's the victim of oppression is "the essence of holding a child back."

The nation's largest teachers' union has quietly taken down a series of adopted and proposed resolutions from its website, including one that calls for the organization to defend the teaching of Marxism-rooted critical race theory (CRT) in public schools.
The National Education Association (NEA), which represents more than 3 million employees in public education, previously showed on its website resolutions proposed during its 100th Representative Assembly. As of the morning of July 6, three days after the online convention concluded, visitors could use the website to track the status of those proposals, including whether they were approved, denied, or referred to a committee.
A significant number of Baltimore public high school students earned below a "D" grade point average during the first three quarters of the 2020–2021 school year, according to an analysis.
The analysis by Project Baltimore, an investigative reporting series by Fox affiliate WBFF, found that during that time period, 41 percent earned a 1.0-grade point average (GPA) or below. That would mean that more than 8,400 of Baltimore City Schools' 20,500 students are getting grades below a "D" overall.

The National Education Association (NEA) filed a lawsuit and a temporary restraining order against a Rhode Island mom for requesting information regarding the CRT propaganda that her child is being taught in school.
Nicole Solas filed an official request with the district for a copy of her daughter's public school curriculum and other materials under the state's Access to Public Records Act, but was instead presented with the ridiculous lawsuit.
After she was served papers yesterday, she blasted the National Education Association for hiding the requested information and said that they are "bullying moms" in the process.

Woke Ideology Harms Children, Say Parents, Therapists
Components of the "woke" ideology that's been spreading throughout the American education system are harmful to children's psychological development, according to experts and parents who've seen the effects first-hand.
The experts noted that many of the concerns raised by proponents of the ideology are real. The way the ideology frames the issues, however, is inappropriate for children. The ideology applies a quasi-Marxist analysis which frames issues of race, "gender," sexuality, and others as conflicts between "oppressor" and "oppressed" groups. A child is likely to internalize the message as either guilt or victim mentality, both harmful for healthy psychological development.
Even for adults, these aspects of the ideology are likely counterproductive, if not toxic, some experts said.

Virginia Tech instructor's syllabus apologizes to students for privilege of having white skin, being middle-class<e>
A Virginia Tech instructor is making headlines after reportedly apologizing to her students of color for the privilege of having white skin and being straight and cisgendered, according to a Tuesday report from Campus Reform.
What are the details?
In her syllabus, Dr. Crystal Duncan Lane, an instructor of human development and family science, apologized to her students of color and asked students to "join [her] on this journey" of fighting against inherent biases.
The syllabus for her Human Development 1134 class, which included a "Who I Am" section, read, "I am a Caucasian cisgender female and first-generation college student from Appalachia who is of Scottish, British, and Norwegian heritage. I am married to a cisgender male, and we are middle class. While I did not 'ask' for the many privileges in my life: I have benefitted from them and will continue to benefit from them whether I like it or not."

Is that at Karl Marx middle school.
The national organization of public school boards is calling on the Biden administration to protect its members from "angry mobs" of parents who protest against COVID-19 restrictions placed on students and the teaching of critical race theory, characterizing the protests as "domestic terrorism."
They want opposition to the brianwashing of CRT to be declated domestic terrorism.
I expected parents who care about their kids' education to do this.
US Sees Surge in Homeschooling and Not Just Over Pandemic
The U.S. Census Bureau conducted what it calls its "experimental Household Pulse Survey," described on the bureau's website as "the first data source to offer both a national and state-level look at the impact of COVID-19 on homeschooling rates."
The survey shows "a substantial increase" of homeschooling from spring of 2020 to the start of the school year the following fall. These dates coincide with the start of the pandemic.
Why the dramatic increase?
According to Steve Duvall, the director of research at the Home School Legal Defense Association in Virginia: "COVID last year was the number-one reason people started to homeschool. That made a lot of people try this for the first time."
Ray believes U.S. public schools did not have the infrastructure, or even the know-how, to produce effective, remote learning during the lockdowns. This, in turn, caused part of the surge.
He also believes critical race theory and the LGBTQIA+ push are additional factors.
He said parents perceive, or believe, "that critical race theory is being forcefully introduced throughout the schools," and "they think it's way-over-the-top, a form of indoctrination."
"There's been an accelerated push for sexuality philosophy and theory into every field of what's being taught in public schools," he said. "Parents, whether they're Progressive, Conservative, Libertarian, they're tired of that."
"Right now, it doesn't seem like the growth of homeschooling is slowing down any," said Duvall. "It doesn't look like the end is in sight."

Teacher's unions think their job is to train the Marxists of tomorrow.
Leaked Audio Reveals How California Teachers Recruit Kids Into LGBTQ Clubs
A leaked audio recording revealed California teachers mocking parents over concerns about homosexual and transgender indoctrination at school, said a source who attended a recent teachers union conference in Palm Springs.
The recording, obtained by The Epoch Times, captured two seventh-grade teachers, Kelly Baraki and Lori Caldeira from Buena Vista Middle School in Salinas, Calif., telling other teachers how to recruit students into LGBTQ clubs, also known as "Gay-Straight Alliance" (GSA) clubs, at school.
"It was horrifying to listen to not just one teacher but really all of the teachers in all of these seminars, excoriating parents," said the source, who goes by the pseudonym Rebecca Murphy.
Murphy attended the California Teachers Association (CTA) conference in late October. She told The Epoch Times the teachers "mocked" parents for their concerns, and suggested they know better than parents about what's best for their children.
"They laughed at the parents," Murphy said.
The sold-out CTA conference, billed as the "2021 LGBTQ+ Issues Conference, Beyond the Binary: Identity & Imagining Possibilities," was held Oct. 29 to 31.
The CTA has hosted similar "Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity" (SOGI) professional development training for at least the last two years, according to an event notice posted on the United Teachers of Los Angeles (UTLA) website, which asks teachers: "Do you have the courage to create a safe environment that fosters bravery to explore sexual orientation, gender identity and expression?"
However, according to Murphy, the purpose of conference in Palm Springs appeared to be about teachers showing other teachers how to undermine the authority of parents and school administrators and conceal activities related to gender inclusion and sexual orientation from them.
The three classes Murphy attended were designed to recruit middle school students to GSA clubs, she said.
"The overarching theme of the classes that I attended were California Teachers instructing other teachers on how to sneak in the LGBTQ+ curriculum in a manner that does not alert parents," Murphy said.
Caldeira and Baraki led a workshop called "How we run a 'GSA' in Conservative Communities," and they described the obstacles they faced as activist teachers in concealing the activities of these clubs from parents.
In the audio clip, Caldeira advised teachers who lead LGBTQ clubs to maintain an air of plausible deniability so they can play dumb if they are questioned by parents.
"Because we are not official, we have no club rosters. We keep no records," said Caldeira, who is also an LGBTQ club leader. "In fact, sometimes we don't really want to keep records because if parents get upset that their kids are coming? We're like, 'Yeah, I don't know. Maybe they came?' You know, we would never want a kid to get in trouble for attending if their parents are upset."
Baraki backed up Caldeira's advice, suggesting activist teachers to disguise the nature of GSA clubs by calling them something less obvious. Baraki provided an example of this deception, pointing out she avoided naming her LGBTQ club a GSA. Instead, she called it the "Equity Club" and later changed the name to the "You Be You" club.
The teachers bragged about spying on students' online searches and activity as well as eavesdropping on their conversations to identify and recruit sixth-grade students into these LGBTQ clubs whose membership rolls are kept hidden from parents.
They suggested that parents who refuse to call their child by pronouns of the child's choosing should be arrested and charged with child abuse, Murphy said.
Buena Vista Middle School falls under the jurisdiction of the Spreckels Union School District (SUSD). Another nearby district, Salinas Union High School District (SUHSD) has been a center of controversy over its mandatory ninth grade ethnic studies program, which teaches elements of critical race theory.
SUSD Board President Steve McDougall, Superintendent Eric Tarallo, and school board members did not respond to Epoch Times inquiries about the leaked audio. Neither did Caldeira and Baraki.

First-grade teacher boasts about sexuality, lack of gender identity: 'My favorite moments are always when my students ask about my queerness'
A purported first-grade teacher is making headlines after claiming that nothing makes them prouder than when their students "ask about my queerness."
It is not clear at the time of this reporting whether the teacher is biologically female or male.
What are the details?
The teacher, who goes by "Nalo" on Twitter, announced that they told students to refer to them as "professor" rather than "Mrs." or "Mr." because neither the formal feminine nor masculine term seemed to feel appropriate.
"My students call me Professor Nalo because I prefer not to use Mrs. or Mr. in my classroom," Nalo wrote. "I teach all subjects as a 1st grade teacher, but my favorite moments are always when my students ask about my queerness."

'We Totally Stalked Them': Teachers Reveal Their Creepy Tactics To Recruit Kids To LGBTQ+ Clubs. (//https)
Leaked materials from the California Teacher's Association Conference (CTA) in Palm Springs have shown how teachers are attempting to subvert parents on their children's inclusion in LGBTQ+ clubs, and tactics for tracking their internet use.
The documentation and audio files from California's largest teacher's union meeting at CTA were sent to Abigail Shrier, who confirmed their authenticity with three participants from the conference.
The event was held from October 29th – 31st, 2021, and entitled "2021 LGBTQ+ Issues Conference, Beyond the Binary: Identity and Imagining Possibilities."
Topics ranged from advising teachers on best practices for subverting parents, handling conservative communities, and discussions of school principals of gender identity and sexual orientation.
The workshops provided at the conference encouraged teachers to "create a safe environment that fosters bravery to explore sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression," while others taught teachers on how to form Gay-Straight Alliance clubs and other forms of LGBTQ+ clubs for middle schoolers.
Such clubs were promoted as answering questions on how to deal with "meddlesome parents" who might not want their child participating in such a club. One speaker noted that the clubs are "not official" so do not hold a roster of members or keep any records.
In the audio files, a Buena Vista Middle School teacher and LGBTQ+ club leader, Lori Caldeira, described how the lack of record-keeping allows for a legal loophole so she can lie to parents about their children's whereabouts and attendance of such clubs.
Another middle school teacher named Kelly Baraki noted that she refers to her club "The Equity Club" or "You Be You" rather than GSA in order to further prevent parents from knowing what their children are attending.

National School Boards Association faces 'critical loss' of funding over letter likening some parents to domestic terrorists

The National School Boards Association is quickly learning that demonizing parents who are concerned about their children's education, and even likening some to domestic terrorists, is not a winning strategy.
In fact, the decision has triggered a "critical loss" of financial backing for the organization.
What is the background?
The Justice Department sent shock waves throughout the U.S. in October when Attorney General Merrick Garland announced he had dispatched the FBI to respond to a number of concerns lodged by the NSBA.
In September, the NSBA wrote President Joe Biden requesting federal intervention over heated confrontations between parents and school boards. The NSBA claimed school board members had been subjected to threats, intimidation, and, in some cases, actual violence.
Not only did the NSBA request intervention from federal law enforcement agencies, the organization urged the federal government to characterize sharp reaction against school boards as "domestic terrorism" and "hate crimes."
The NSBA later apologized. The mea culpa, however, did not stop more than one dozen state education boards from withdrawing support from the NSBA.
What is happening now?
Axios reported that at least 17 states have withdrawn support for the NSBA, cutting off the organization from a significant reservoir of funding.
In fact, financial documents obtained by Axios showed that those states accounted for more than $1 million in annual dues in 2019, or more than 40% of all annual dues received by the NSBA that year.
More from Axios:
The group gets more dues income directly from school districts, with more than 1,200 providing nearly $5.3 million this year, according to NSBA records. Like the state associations, some of those districts also have severed ties with the group this fall.
The $1.1 million figure likely undercounts state associations' financial support, which also includes contributions related to NSBA conferences and events. The Montana School Boards Association, for instance, initially budgeted for $68,000 in 2021-22 dues payments. But it estimated its total financial commitment to be much higher, at nearly $160,000. It voted last month to leave the NSBA.
What did the NSBA say?
A spokesman for the organization downplayed the financial headache caused by the states withdrawing their membership from the NSBA.
"NSBA continues to have the resources we need to be effective on behalf of our members, and we will relentlessly work to advance our mission and continuously improve as an organization," the spokesperson told Axios.
These rabid socialists need to be serverely punished for their conduct based on lies, hysteria and lust for vengeance.

Michigan High School Student Sues School for Suspending Him for Privately Talking About Christian Beliefs
A Plainwell, Michigan, high school junior has gone to federal court to fight for his right to talk about his religion.
The case arose when Plainwell High School student David Stout was suspended for three days for expressing his Christian beliefs and opinions in a private conversation with a like-minded student on school property and in private text messages outside of school with friends.
Stout also alleges he was told that talking about religious or political beliefs was not allowed anywhere on campus for fear of hurting someone's feelings. He alleges the faculty member told him that he must stop all religious conversations with other students because, if overheard, they might feel offended and unsafe.
Stout said the whole thing seemed to him to be a one-sided method to shame, intimidate, and silence conservatives and Christians.

"In her recommendation, Jeremy's Assistant Principal, Debra Beals, detailed how he "exemplifies school leadership, with a Zest for Life beyond the classroom."
She also explained that there are three areas in which Jeremy shows this leadership in his school: by creating opportunities for students to excel in school and beyond, increasing technology and automation to improve teachers' performance, and school spirit - through his humor and creativity.
Plainwell High School Senior expressed that Jeremy is admired by students because he takes time to listen and create a positive, fun and meaningful environment for all. "

A public-school teacher in Kansas is suing the principal of her school, the district's superintendent, and members of the school board after being suspended for not using a student's preferred name.
Pamela Ricard taught math at Fort Riley Middle School. She says that she refused to use the preferred names and pronouns of transgender and nonbinary students because it violates her religious beliefs, CNN reported.
After being disciplined multiple times for refusing to refer to students by their preferred names, Ms. Ricard filed a lawsuit against the Geary County Schools Unified School District.
In the lawsuit, Ms. Ricard argues that school administrators preventing her from ignoring students' preferred names and pronouns "deprived her of due process and equal protection of law" and violated her First Amendment rights to free speech and exercise of religion.

What is a kindergarten teacher doing talking about his relationship with kidergarten kids.
Quote
A gay kindergarten teacher in Florida said "it scares me to death" that he won't be able to talk to his students about his "partner" due to the Parental Rights in Education bill Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed into law Monday.
The law — which left-wing pro-LBGTQ types have falsely referred to as the "Don't Say Gay" bill — prohibits classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3, and it doesn't use the word "gay" or prevent its use.
What did the teacher say?
"It really hits hard in my heart professionally and personally," teacher Cory Bernaert said in an interview MSNBC posted Tuesday. He added that "it truly makes me feel like I am not trusted as a professional. I know my kindergarten standards through and through, and nowhere in our curriculum does it have anything about teaching sexual orientation or sexual identity. So for them to say that that's happening ... it's kinda crazy."

Biggie has a thread about this in Rejected.
Two parents in Baltimore, Maryland, have filed a lawsuit against their city and its school district in response to shocking reports about the progressive city's abject failure to educate children.
Earlier this year, local news outlet WBFF-TV highlighted the story of a woman who graduated from the Baltimore City Public Schools system without being able to read. The outlet also found a whopping 77% of high schoolers at one area high school were reading at an elementary level. Another report discovered that in the past year, 41% of BCPS high school students earned below a 1.0 grade point average.

Parents pay a lot in property taxes for their children's education, and teachers are paid a salary to educate the children..
If children aren't learning than teachers should be terminated and/or the education portion of local taxes refunded.

How the CDC used schools to groom YOUR kids

Powerful forces are involved here
The Biden administration told Republican lawmakers who are trying to protect kids from getting put on puberty blockers and getting surgically altered that they were being "put on notice" by the Department of Justice.
There's a reason why the Left thinks they can deny that schools are teaching CRT or comprehensive sexuality education. The entire plan is much larger than just CRT and CSE, and powerful forces are involved here.
"The purpose of a university should be to make a son as unlike his father as possible." - Woodrow Wilson
Institutions we've historically trusted with our families took a wrong turn. Our kids are being brainwashed, and it starts with the content they read, see, and hear as toddlers, and eventually when they throw on their backpacks to go to preschool. The public school system is all but lost. This was the topic Glenn covered on last night's special.
The CDC began studying what they called "Adverse Childhood Experiences." The program looked at various childhood experiences that affected their development and could ultimately result in early death. The listed experiences have evolved.
A graphic from the National Conference of State legislatures seems to sum up what is currently included. Some are:
Physical and Emotional Neglect
Emotional and Sexual Abuse
Domestic Violence
Divorce
Etc.
But recently, a few more have been added. Things like:
Discrimination
Community Disruption
Lack of Opportunity
SOCIAL Capital
Glenn noted that gender identity isn't explicitly mentioned, even though it's currently taught as though it is.
"The idea is clear. Every child can easily be categorized into at least one of their areas of concern. So, the government needed to develop a plan to tailor education in a way that "helps" kids. Because everyone knows that government plans always work perfectly and never have any ulterior motive," Glenn said sarcastically.
The government's solution came directly from the Centers for Disease Control in the form of an education model called Whole School. Whole Community. Whole Child.
"The model began to change the role of schools and teachers into places of therapy. This model is based on the assumption that every child has some issue. The trick was to identify what it was, then push them into one of their little oppressed or oppressor groups," Glenn said.
The model focused on intervening in 10 key areas:
Physical education and activity
Nutrition
Health education
Social and emotional climate
Physical environment
Health services
Counseling, psychological and social services
Employee wellness
Community involvement
Family engagement
Background
You might have heard of a new program from school boards or K-12 schools called Social-Emotional Learning.
A North Carolina school issues a questionnaire to kids as early as kindergarten titled "Gender Support Plan." Children are asked to answer questions like "Student's Assigned Sex at Birth" and "Student's Gender Identity."
According to documents obtained by Education First Alliance, New Hanover County schools in North Carolina are "allowing teachers to hide circumstances where children change their gender at school."
Glenn explained that the questionnaire establishes a point of contact for the student to have people at the school from whom the student can receive counsel regarding their gender identity. It specifies whether the child's family is aware of this and what the school should do if the parents aren't aware and are "supportive."
"Teachers are actively discussing gender identity with kids as early as 5 years old," Glenn explained. "They keep it a secret from their parents as part of the plan."
Do not be foolish enough to assume that you live in a "safe state," either. Texas is generally considered the "the Bible Belt," but you won't believe what is happening in Austin.
The Austin Independent School District believes: "That Social Emotional Learning is at the heart of equity-centered systems and structures. To grow this belief into a reality, the SEL and Cultural Proficiency and Inclusiveness department has adopted a new statement of purpose for our work together."
Leftist Yuval Noah Harari says there will be no genders in 50 years, and he touts "re-engineering bodies, brains, and minds," which is what this whole issue is really about. Glenn explained that at the heart of CSE, the government and, of course, the World Economic Forum have developed and are now implementing programs to alter the minds of future generations.

A new book being distributed throughout New York City schools teaches children as young as 2-years-old blames racism and the concept of race on white people.
The New York Post reported that the book "Our Skin," which was written by Harlem activist Megan Madison and Brooklynite library worker Jessica Ralli, teaches children that the concept of race was created by white people who claimed they were "better, smarter, prettier, and that they deserve more than everybody else."
The book begins with a discussion of skin tones and then shows an illustration of human skulls encased in glass, sitting on shelves along with an elaborate theory that blames white people for creating the concept of race.
The book states, "A long time ago, way before you were born, a group of white people made up an idea called race. They sorted people by skin color and said that white people were better, smarter, prettier, and that they deserve more than everybody else."

This (alongside so many similar CRT literature, speech & teaching) is clearly designed to keep the hate going and prevent improvement ... in fact it is designed to increase hate

I absolutely disagree. And quite frankly Marxist ideology is misinterpreted and misrepresented by the vast majority of punters. It's a capitalistic world in which we live in after all and it's the 21st century for Christ sake.

No, I have not.
A British high school art teacher was fired after allowing female students to pose topless for an art project. However, the teacher has defended her actions, and said that the class was done in the name of art.
Emma Wright, 41, had been working as an art teacher at Huxlow Science College in Northamptonshire, England, since 2004. In 2017, she permitted a lewd photoshoot to happen in her classroom.
A probe was launched in December 2017, after her school's head of design discovered one student's art portfolio containing the topless photos.
The investigation found that Wright had invited a photographer who specialized in "suggestive poses" to speak to her students. During the session, the school girls – some as young as 15 – reportedly disrobed.
A Hawaii teacher shared child porn with a fellow teacher and bragged about having sex with a 13-year-old boy during school lunch breaks, according to federal prosecutors.
Alden Bunag was arrested on Wednesday by FBI agents at an Oahu high school – where he worked as a summer school teacher, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported. Honolulu FBI agents also executed a search warrant at Bunag's home.
Bunag was charged with distributing child pornography.
The Hawaii public school teacher reportedly sent more than 3,300 messages to another teacher in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Included in the messages were photos and videos of child porn, according to federal court documents. The teacher in Philadelphia was arrested in October.
Court records said that Bunag confessed to law enforcement that he recorded his sexual encounters with the 13-year-old boy – who was a former student – and sent the videos to others through the Telegram messenger app.
The outlet added, "Records said, 'he also admitted to distributing the video recording of his sexual contact... admitted to distributing child pornography involving other minor victims.'"
The Supreme Court voted 6–3 to strike down as unconstitutional a Maine law that excludes families from a student aid program if they choose to send their children to religious schools, in a decision released June 21.
In October 2021, Governor Newsom signed California's ethnic studies mandate for high schools into law. While many school districts are still deciding on the specific curricula contents for their high school ethnic studies courses, a group of teacher activists have been busy introducing the paradigm in lower grades.
On June 10, 2022, the Liberated Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum Consortium (LESMCC) hosted an online training program for elementary school educators.
The program featured Dr. Orieal Maria Siu, a self-described "anti-racist" children's book author, with her two new books titled Christopher the Ogre Cologre, It's Over!: The Real History of Christopher Columbus and Rebeldita the Fearless in Ogreland.
The former is branded as "a must for every classroom, library and home" that "teaches the truth about Christopher Columbus, white settler colonialism and history of the Americas from the perspective of indigenous and black resistances." The latter is a fiction about a girl born out of "long-enduring Black and Indigenous resistances in the Americas" who "knows her history and uses it to change her present in Ogreland."
Using colorful cartoon drawings, playful language and bilingual translations, these books are an effective weapon of thought indoctrination into one-sided accounts of American history and activism-oriented lessons for kids ages 5 to 10.
Describing Christopher Columbus as a "ruthless and heartless" Ogre sent by greedy king and queen of "EuroLandia" to steal treasures and land in utopia AbyaYala, Christopher the Ogre Cologre paints a picture of racist conquistadors brutalizing the Indigenous people and imported slaves. In addition to plundering AbyaYala, the ogre Christopher also suppressed the teaching of true history of an ancient land full of life, history, and technological advancements.
Out of the systemic oppression imposed by the ogres, a heroine—the abuelita—emerged to lead the resistance movement of which children were the main foot soldiers. Deriving her power from stereotypically eating beans, the abuelita singlehandedly commanded the "RESISTANCE" to preserve AbyaYala's unique cultural traditions. Under her watch, the children meticulously documented its authentic history in a book called The Forbidden History of AbyaYala that the Ogre, Christopher Cologre, Does Not Want Anywhere Told!
When the new generation amassed enough knowledge and organization, the abuelita then passed on the torch to one of her young proteges named Rebeldita, a fearless girl who could talk to trees and committed herself to truth-telling as the way to liberate AbyaYalans from the cologres.
If you think this is only a fairy-land story to inspire children's imagination and humanity, you are wrong. According to the author, Christopher the Ogre Cologre, It's Over! was written to "counter systemic negation, denial, omissions and lies taught in the K-12 pertaining to the history of the Americas/white settler colonialism."
In other words, "teaching the truth" amounts to overcompensating historical revisionism through which confounding institutional changes as a result of colonialism are replaced by a dichotomy of the evildoing of one-dimensional ogres vis-v-vis the heroic resistances of the indigenous and black populations.
This reductive view of American history disregards many consequential factors explaining colonialism and post-colonial developments, such as different types of colonial institutions, regime types of the home governments, and the political structures of the pre-colonial societies.
Was the evil king and queen of "EuroLandia" better or worse than the Mayan or Aztec emperors who practiced human sacrifice and exploited their own people? How should students view those indigenous leaders who entered alliances with the conquistadors, including Xicotencatl the Elder and Maxixcatzin? The intentional over-simplification damages learning and blunts formation of well-rounded worldviews, while these highly controversial materials are propagated in a cartoon format with the expressive goal of driving up social activism among young kids.
The bicameral lens of racist European settlers versus innocent indigenas is reflective of two interlocking trends. At the national level, "teaching truth" or "teaching hard history" has become synonymous with hard-left propaganda spewed by organized groups like Learning for Justice (LFJ) and the Zinn Education Project. For LFJ, teaching hard history is "an original framework for teaching about slavery and white supremacy." The framework contains six guiding principles:
Teach that slavery is foundational.
Acknowledge that slavery existed in the North and the South.
Talk explicitly about racism and white supremacy.
Rely on responsive pedagogy that is well suited to the topic.

In no uncertain terms, foundations of "teaching hard history" are identical with the 1619 Project and major tenets of critical race theory (CRT) that treats white racism as a permanent feature of America.
As for the Zinn Education Project, it launched a project called "Pledge to Teach the Truth" last year in defiance of growing state-level legislative bans on K-12 teaching of CRT. The project has collected 8,322 signatures from teachers across the country, pledging to defy legislation banning teaching that "identifies people or groups of people, entities, or institutions in the United States as inherently, immutably, or systemically sexist, racist, anti-LGBT, bigoted, biased, privileged, or oppressed." For the signers, educating American students requires that they hyper-focus on the teaching of "racism, sexism, heterosexism, and oppression throughout U.S. history."
Interestingly, the Zinn Education Project also runs a campaign to abolish Columbus Day because "when the school curriculum celebrates Columbus, children are taught that it's OK for white people to rule over peoples of color and that militarily powerful nations can bully weaker nations."
At the state level, infusing social justice, a resistance pedagogy, and anti-racism into elementary school teaching demonstrates the deep inroads into public education made by the liberated ethnic studies movement.
Although the California Department of Education approved a state model curriculum last March, proponents of the liberated camp are pushing for a more radical paradigm after protesting the state version as a compromise for "white supremacist, right wing, conservatives." Dedicated to teaching ethnic studies as "a form of liberation" and a pedagogy of "transformational resistance," the liberated curriculum is almost identical with the state-rejected first field draft, which, according to both Governor Newsom and the State Legislature, would "never see the light of day." Yet, the institution created to market liberated ethnic studies is now hosting professional development webinars targeting K-5 teachers.
So, parents, watch out. If your kid is asked to read Christopher the Ogre Cologre, you should know that a coordinated campaign of anti-American, ideological capture is taking place backstage.

Too many school boards in some provinces dropped teaching They indoctrinate.
This editorial by John Hilton O'Brien, Executive Director of Parents for Choice in Education is about the teacher's union in Alberta. But, it is true of every teacher's union in every province in Canada.
"I guess that it was bound to happen.
There are around 48,000 students in independent schools. That means there are close to 2,000 teachers in them — none of whom are forced to join the Alberta Teachers' Association. To the ATA — which charges $1422 in union dues — that is close to $3 million in foregone revenue.
So, no surprise: someone from the ATA Board of Directors has launched a petition for a referendum to defund independent schools. The naked self-interest on display is breathtaking — but there is more to this story. The campaign relies on misinformation — and it is a dog whistle for something far darker.
Demands to eliminate funding for Alberta's independent schools are old. The age of the arguments is no indicator of quality. As economist Bruce Wilkinson noted in a 1994 book, the arguments are debunked thoroughly every time. But immediately after, self-proclaimed "public education advocates," who always turn out to have a financial stake in the matter, pretend that their arguments are sound. His case in point? His correspondents in the very book he was writing in didn't even try to respond to the economic analysis that proved them wrong.
In 2019, Parents for Choice in Education commissioned a report entitled "How educational choice saved Alberta taxpayers $1.9 Billion and supports student success." It concluded that independent education actually subsidizes public education. The money saved by underfunding the independent schools goes straight into the public schools.
Remove those independent schools, and you strip hundreds of millions of dollars out of the public system.
That report also busted some of the myths about independent schools that the union is still repeating.
First, independent schools get better results — by any measure. Anti-choice proponents try to claim that this is because the schools "cream" the best students from the public system. While it is true that admission to elite schools is competitive, this is also true of special programs in the public system, such as International Baccalaureate streams. More importantly, the argument does not explain the better results achieved by independent schools in general. Studies done of both elite and non-elite independent schools show that the students in the non-elite schools are also doing vastly better than the public schools. Independent schools simply offer a better educational option than the public system.
Secondly, the ATA claims that funding for independent schools is simply giving a subsidy to "the rich." The truth? Only about 1-in-6 private schools cater to "elites." The overwhelming majority — 83% of them — cater to families whose average income is below the provincial average. The main effect of independent schools is to improve educational access to lower and middle income families. These aren't elite schools: they are for the working class.
Thirdly, independent schools honour student diversity in a way that the public system simply doesn't. Part of the reason that they get better results is that the learning environments vary between schools. If a child is not thriving in one environment, you can change environments. Public systems — in spite of excellent special programs — are standardized. They simply can't adapt to student needs as quickly or radically as independent schools do.
Beyond that report, we should observe that there is nothing "private" about Alberta's independent schools. The government dictates the curriculum. They are subject to regular inspections which the "public" system does not undergo. And as Section 35.1 of the Education Act makes clear, the government can even tell a private school what clubs it can have.
Government control is absolute.
Underneath the false claims and myths of the public-school lobby, however, lurks something far more sinister.
According to a recent Cardus study, 105 of Alberta's 180 independent schools are religious. They are generally minority religions – various Christian denominations, Sikh, Jewish, and Islamic. If we remove funding for independent schools, we are removing funding for them.
Now, foes of choice may claim that these can simply be programs within the aggressively secular public system. But that amounts to claiming the right to decide what can and cannot be taught as part of someone else's faith. It's not just patronizing — it's an attack on minority religions.
We've seen such attacks before. In 1875, American Senator James Blaine tried to introduce a Constitutional amendment to forbid money from going to sectarian schools. He intended it to eliminate educational rights for minority religions — specifically Catholics. While he failed federally, 38 states adopted their own state-level Blaine Amendments.
In fact, the ATA's ballot measure is a Blaine Amendment. Same language. Same purpose. Same effect.
In the US, however, Blaine Amendments have been dying. Not just in the court of popular opinion, either: one by one, the courts have struck down Blaine Amendments on human rights grounds. And the fact is that we have signed international agreements to the effect that people have a right to their independent schools — and they are entitled to funding for them.
While the ATA's move may be morally and intellectually bankrupt, it is flush with cash. In 2022, they announced that they had diverted $16 million from their "Special Emergency Fund" (the strike fund) into a "Defence and Advocacy Fund," intended to be used for political advocacy. Nobody opposing them has comparable resources. Independent schools need to treat this as the existential threat it is.
However, the petition's very attack on religious freedom is the key to defense. Independent schools can potentially certify a class-action lawsuit, alleging religious discrimination for the fact that they have not received equal funding to begin with. That knocks the petition off the table, and the province can negotiate a settlement that protects the rights of independent schools forever.
And if their timing is right, the ATA's management may have plundered the membership's strike fund in vain."
