They had no reason.
Showed up without a search warrant, said they were violating an unmentioned rule, then claimed it was a crime scene, taped it off so nobody could return to the accommodation, harrased the reporters and detained two of them after shoving one of them.

Because I didn't need one if I am there to arrest people suspected of committing an offence.
I also didn't have an arrest warrant, because police officers do not require a warrant to arrest people they suspect of committing an offence. The swearing in process endows all police officers with the power to arrest without warrant.
