A new report released by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a right-leaning think tank, found an upward trend in Americans who believed the government should be doing more.
The report compared results from polls conducted by Gallup, Pew Research, and CBS and concluded that a growing number of Americans favored a "big government" that provided them with "more services."
In a 2020 Gallup poll, 54% of Americans said, "The government should do more to solve our country's problems." The results recorded by Gallup marked the first time in 20 years where a majority of respondents believed the government has a larger role.
The AEI report cited Pew Research and CBS surveys of U.S. adults regarding the size of government and the services it provides. A majority, 52%, of respondents said they would rather have a larger government with more services than one that is smaller with fewer services (45%), the AEI report read.

I wasn't a fan of the Iron Lady. She is better than all of them today though.
Socialism is disgusting...
Everybody should have medical, dental, physiotherapy, prescription drugs, subsidized post secondary education(for some disciplines), affordable housing, and reasonably priced auto insurance. It doesn't matter who provides it.
We don't need subsidies for wind and solar and education dollars that divide people by race.
How about you get those things for yourself, if you want them, and the government can stop stealing from people....

You've worked for a promise that you'll get those things... not the actual dollar amount of what you put into the hat and what you'll get back.
It's basically a pyramid scheme of unfunded liabilities and a generation onwards will be left with nothing when these schemes go kaput.

IMO all companies should run based upon a supply and demand model, otherwise they don't deserve to exist. If they need to sponge off tax payers to survive, then it's not really a business from a honest perspective.

Is your private pension plan market based or exposed to the markets? Insurance only works if a far fewer people need it as well.
Any public or private scheme promising a guarantee or return equal to or greater than the contributions to it is fundamentally flawed.
Even at a one for one ratio... (ie one 1993 dollar versus one 2021 dollar) is flawed as inflation rises and buying power reduces.
To be fair, individuals planning for their futures by investing in 401k/superannuation schemes, precious metals, stocks, and property can become unstuck as well....according to market whims and just plain bad investments.
The difference is on who the onus falls on when things fail to deliver and the exposure of individuals versus whole groups or nations.
Insurance plans (investments the same), aren't designed to give back to all the investors. They're ponzi schemes.
Better for individuals to fail than entire groups... at least the groups will care for their friends, families, and loved ones.
Are you really this ignorant of how sovereign wealth funds work? That is really what our pension fund is.

America is changing for the worse.

But in a democratic capitalist nation, there is really nothing from stopping from the workers to start up their own business and distribute the net profit among themselves.
The government decides which businesses are allowed today. This federal government has chased away nearly 200 billion dollars in natural resource investments along with hundreds of thousands of good jobs.
Damn... now I can fully understand why pretty much everyone hates Trudeau to the core.
Your province will vote for him again. But not you and seoulbro.
I'd never vote for a sellout that betrays his/her own people, Trudeau is even lower than a commie.
He looks down on average families like mine.

This isn't good for anybody except lazy assholes.

He looks down on average families like mine.
Ironically he should be the one looked down upon, Trudeau is devoid of reality and will not stand a chance if he was forced to join a free market society.

Ironically he should be the one looked down upon, our PM is devoid of reality and will not stand a chance if left on the streets to survive.
He had the thinnest CV of any pm in Canadian history.

He was a part time drama teacher. He was a ski instructor and a bouncer too. Naturally that qualifies him to manage a G-7 economy. Well, that and great hair.

I can't believe he has no academic qualifications and is our PM, this explains everything!

In the social media age, unqualified people can become prime minister..
It helps when they have a famous surname.
Walter E. Williams was a great man.
