I've been here almost since the beginning. The reason I stay is because I like how the discussions flow. The reason I am not having fun anymore is because there are no more discussions. Lame insults and memes have replaced it. It reminds me of my brief time at SG.
Is it just me? How do other people feel about this? Has the tone changed in your opinion? Do you like the change? Has it improved the flow of discussions? I look forward to feedback.

The reason I don't venture far from this community is that quite frankly the competition appeals to adults who stopped maturing before they reached puberty. We were more for adults. That has changed lately. No longer do we reply with actual rebuttals. That has been replaced with kindergarten insults, laffy lol's, no yuo, and the oh so boring deflection, "you seem" this or that.

One of the reasons most forums ban Seamajor is that he doesn't know how to play nice which negatively affects the community..

We had one poster from that forum register here.....I believe his handle is apeman at CBT and Admin at BF..
The only posts he made here were anti Donald Trump memes..

I didn't realize... I have a high tolerance to venom and it doesn't register especially if I'm responding to someone and chuckling to myself while doing it.
But I do realize I have a rather dark sense of humour and I enjoy riling up people.
Maybe I could tone it down with some of the rule changes or actions Kiebers and you are considering.
As Bricktop mentioned with he and I, it's all water off a ducks back, but others may not have had the necessary experiences to arrive to such an understanding.

We seem to be emulating what is happening in the world outside. Division, bitterness, anger and hatred.
That is something we should ALL try to redress.
If I have caused any member undue and legitimate duress by any comment I have made, I offer an unconditional apology and will make a concerted effort to cease and desist such behaviour.
Unfortunately this is true, and it's spilling into many threads.
I didn't realize... I have a high tolerance to venom and it doesn't register especially if I'm responding to someone and chuckling to myself while doing it.
But I do realize I have a rather dark sense of humour and I enjoy riling up people.
Maybe I could tone it down with some of the rule changes or actions Kiebers and you are considering.
As Bricktop mentioned with he and I, it's all water off a ducks back, but others may not have had the necessary experiences to arrive to such an understanding.
We can't become like BF or it's predecessors, TRF and SG.....that will be our eulogy..
You made some reasonable suggestions to restore order, let's wait to see what others have to say.....it's early in the morning in North America....only Mel is still awake.

The reason I don't venture far from this community is that quite frankly the competition appeals to adults who stopped maturing before they reached puberty. We were more for adults. That has changed lately. No longer do we reply with actual rebuttals. That has been replaced with kindergarten insults, laffy lol's, no yuo, and the oh so boring deflection, "you seem" this or that.
I've been here almost since the beginning. The reason I stay is because I like how the discussions flow. The reason I am not having fun anymore is because there are no more discussions. Lame insults and memes have replaced it. It reminds me of my brief time at SG.
Is it just me? How do other people feel about this? Has the tone changed in your opinion? Do you like the change? Has it improved the flow of discussions? I look forward to feedback.

1. Make it clearer that the main board is for discussion and Rejected or whatever is for shit slinging. Spirited debates are fine but take it to Rejected if you want to sledge with impunity. There you can do anything legal or non TOS violating to your hearts content.....but it stays there.
2. Consider allowing call out threads on the main board to redirect into Rejected so people can put each other on notice publicly but not have it destroy the serenity of the main page.
3. Repeat violators get their avatars changed to something embarrassing for a predetermined amount of time, and a three strikes and a time out policy for the feisty ones with pancake butts (Hi, Shen!....ac_razz )
4. Mild stirring is acceptable on the main page threads. Maliciousness not. Most of us can recognize the difference except possibly Mainlanders who can uniformly press leaves and flowers for scrapbooks with just their butts....
5. Memes are allowed in any thread but no single person can post more than 5 except if it's a dedicated meme thread.Cool, I can make a spread sheet for each thread to keep up with the number of meme's posted.]
6. If debate adversaries in a main page thread refuse to read/view/watch/listen to information or multimedia supplied by the other, the onus is on the person doing the refusing to cease debate or they should take it to Rejected and carry on. No legitimate discussion can happen if one side refuses to deal with the other side's sources, even if they are considered suspect by one party.
Current rules
5. If we believe your intention is to be irritating, obnoxious or make the board less fun for others we will confine to Rejected or revoke your posting privileges.
7. If you are going to troll, please do so in the Rejected section of our board.
In other words, for the most part, do what the original forum rules say to do. We need members to remain within the context the original rules lay out. The last thing we need is more rules.
I guess we could restrict people to rejected, but I can only imagine how that will go down when someone believes they are right and others are wrong. Lord knows how many "I didn't start it they did" we will get out of that. Right now due to the language/attitude that is going on, I would restrict some on both sides of the issue to rejected. There is no debate going on here. People are firmly entrenched.
Maybe we need another (gasp) sub forum for debate. I could move threads there to keep the crap down. Of course we would still have all the butt hurt that would bleed into other forums so probably not a good idea.

People have insulted each other enough that bad feelings have developed between members. I may wind up moving all of the vaccine threads to rejected. But then again, it wouldn't do any good, it seems those bad feelings creep their way into all threads.
All in all, it winds up on the backs of the adult members to police themselves in these threads. I can't make you change, and if I go the tough route, a good number of y'all will be restricted to rejected for quite a while.
Basically, some of you need to slow your roll on the main and take it to Rejected before I have to force the issue.

I don't say that as a threat but how I feel people like Blazor and me have been held to a different standard, and to a lesser extent....DSM.
Though in DSM's defence (not that he needs it), he approaches all this in a flippant manner. I do too.... but from an animalistic place he probably doesn't get.
When I see disparities on how people engage with us, I'm like "alright, motherfucker.....game on". I just checked IHJ's posts and they were not 1/100th as bad as what we have been getting of late. He was quite gentle from what I saw

The tone has changed here. Bricktop too has noticed this. It's primarily two people, one is a fake meme spammer and the other posts childish laffys and insults. Although I am in agreement with most of their views on the pandemic, the way they respond is not us. At least not on the main board. Basically, grow up or shut up.

I don't know what you are referring to. But, I do know some two year old threads have taken a dramatic change. You and DD have a posting style is not conducive to the spirit of those threads. Take a look at dsm's style. He agrees with both of you as I do too, but he can present a rebuttal without turning into something that makes Seamajor blush.
Flaming and inciting responses from opponents for personal amusement isn't always about a popularity contest. It's often designed to highlight disparity and double standards or to just simply wind somebody up and laugh at them spin.

The bravado is a big part of it.... one needs cajones to walk digitally into a new place and stir the locals without getting banned from the get go.

Take for instance my occasional use of the phrase 'lil choo choo boy" towards you. It's paid dividends. I'm no train driver but I did get a ride along where two aussie blokes let me control the deceleration and acceleration of the diesel train going through NSW, according to their strict instructions (do this, do that, not enough, too much sort of thing)... they sat there watching me like a hawk and if at any point I didn't do exactly like they said, there would two big beefy guys ready to remove me..... not that they needed to... one of the guys was an old employee in my prior company and we'd worked for years with each other. I got the ride along because the company was hiring new potential drivers. I had applied and the company ok'd the ride. They drove us all out in a luxury cab because on that day, they couldn't get their assured normal.
So my stating that train drivers are just bus drivers on training wheels is obviously mischievous.
But it worked.
You maintained that I was a liar, and if I wasn't, people were up for criminal prosecution or firings.
It was all kosher though.
I repeatedly got told that if even fast tracked, it would take 18-36 months to get accreditation. Signalling was first and foremost, then the interesting shit.
