Charlotte's Law - Tougher Cyber Bullying Legislation
The world lost a beautiful soul on February 22nd 2014. A soul that could light up an empty room, a soul that dreamed of the best.
Charlotte Dawson, 47, took her own life. The circumstances surrounding her death are not yet known, however it was publicly known Charlotte had a long battle with depression and bullying.
Charlotte fought hard for a reform into cyber bullying; she campaigned so hard for something so simple - a better world.
In life Charlotte dreamed of eradicating negativity off social media, in death we will continue fighting for her and make her proud of our continuing battle. Charlotte's death can not be in vain.
We ask that Social Media companies take a more active role in the prevention of cyber bullying, and take more responsibility in monitoring posts of 'hate'. We ask that together we unite to change the cyber bullying platform.
There are many people who loved and admired you dearly. You will be missed Charlotte.

I will take Gary Oak's racist sinophobic cyberbullying posts on various discussion forums to MLA Spencer Chandra Herbert in his West End Office since he has experience hate crime last Friday. Good timing since Pink Shirt Day is on Wednesday, February 24.
Chandra Herbert says the man was apparently angry about a rainbow flag that hangs in the front window of his office, and about another rainbow flag that is displayed in a window at the West End Community Centre.

MLA Spencer Chandra Herbert says the man who assaulted his office assistant was apparently upset over a rainbow flag that hangs in the front window of his constituency office, and a similar flag that hangs in the window of the West End Community Centre.
"My assistant is recovering from the incident, but we are both shaken and shocked that someone felt it acceptable to express their hateful views by assaulting a government worker and damaging government property," he said in a written statement Monday.
"This attack will only encourage me to redouble efforts to ensure our government is taking all steps to support our province's diverse communities and stand against hate."
The incident is now being investigated by the Vancouver Police Hate Crimes Unit.

According to a new study published by University of Manitoba researchers, Internet trolls – people who commonly lurk on message boards and post offensive material to get a rise out of people – exhibit anti-social behaviour in their offline settings as well.
The finding – authored by Erin Buckelsa, Paul Trapnellb and Delroy Paulhusc – revealed that those who trolled online also tended to have the "Dark Tetrad of personality" – featuring traits of "sadism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism".
The Canadian researchers defined trolling as the "practice of behaving in a deceptive, destructive, or disruptive manner in a social setting on the Internet with no apparent instrumental purpose".
The study concluded that "enjoyment of other online activities, such as chatting and debating, was unrelated to sadism. Thus cyber-trolling appears to be an Internet manifestation of everyday sadism."
