Bricktop is capable of more than what you've seen of him here at BC, but as with most veterans, they have been drown out by modern internet sentiments and mostly rest on their laurels. He'd prefer to keep altercations away from the trolling side as he has little patience or aptitude for slow and semi-malicious grinds mostly because of his age, self identity, and how he cut his teeth in the mid 2000's.

You freely admit you weren't part of the melee in places like BH, much less F4$ or similar. Accordingly you cannot pretend to know how valid Freud's assessment of their flaming abilities are, there being a good many actors in the Game you missed out on. The Wayback Machine isn't necessarily a help either, much of the comedic impact was in-jokes that meant something at the time but wouldn't pass muster today. Half the reason why Flange is such a steaming pile of crap is because their terms of reference were badly dated when they picked them up years ago and have aged even worse since. Unless you were there at the time it was new, much of the potency will be lost to you or anyone else doing similar digging.
I think Freud was overly generous with his rankings, most people these days simply don't understand that part and parcel of the flaming ethic was to have your opponent laughing at the flames you made. That goes for much of Brawl-Hall's existence as well, you had maybe as many as a dozen top tier contributors at any one time, but given the site was effectively run by alumni of the arguably toxic ~T~D~T~ Coalition, the framework for a successful flaming site was flawed from the get-go. By the time the Flanges and Martinis hit the scene, most of the actual writing talent had either already left or was in the process of leaving. That's not to say there weren't a few brief flashes of brilliance, there were... but for the most part the newer additions to the ranks conflated "winning" with the destruction of their opponents instead of attempting to engage them in mutually beneficial "lulz".
I only cut loose in the craft these days when I'm sure that the audience gets it. That wouldn't include here at BC; it's not a flame board in spite of repeated and ill-advised attempts by others to market it as such. More of a community of people discussing various matters, maybe indulging with a bit of online banter here and there, but with flaming owing a great debt to comedic impact and comedy itself being at its best when it is at its most outrageous, you and Cronus would freak the fuck right out were unfettered flaming to break out on this site, not in the least out of concerns for the kinds of government and pitchfork waving SJWs you might open your doors to one night.
And it is a reasonably nice board. Be happy that you don't command the presence of heavy handed king hitters among your ranks and be sure to pat those Erica Mena types on the head when they claim supremacy in the game.
Preferably in the absence of anything resembling a pie-chart, those things are like kryptonite to them, I never did understand why.

Flea was still in high school when ya'll were on Web TVWebTV... wasn't that the AIDS-riddled excuses of computational excrement afforded to those assclowns who couldn't afford/operate a real computer? I remember seeing option for setting that shit up on old Windows 98 installations, took forever to find anyone to tell me how crap it was and why.
Reduced instruction sets and underpowered chips suck.

They were incompetent, a product designed for old people and stupid kids allowed you to view all the "seedy and felonious" usenet sites, and people would be shocked at this and post about it in the webtv firewalled groups like "Chat". That caused more people to check out these usenet groups themselves and they were reporting it to webtv and the FBI . Since your webtv email is displayed when you posted in the firewalled webtv groups, trolls would email you weird porn, people would report it to webtv and webtv would send you some stupid form email reply saying they would look into it. I remember Vitriol saying he was getting sent porn along with other people who posted a lot in the webtv groups.
Eventually webtv changed what usenet groups you could access with their browser but then you had some webtv customers who started demanding a firewalled porn group since porn was not originally allowed in the firewalled webtv groups. Webtv caved, of course you had questionable porn being posted in this damn group, people would report it and nothing would happen, this was when webtv basically self destructed.
There were trolls "hacking it" so that when you clicked on one of their troll posts it would shut off your webtv. People were getting strikes against their webtv accounts for swearing yet people spamming porn were fine, it was a disaster.
If you got three strikes they bricked your webtv.
Me and Merle were using Newsguy, a pay browser to post in alt.flame and the other troll groups, we also got netcopped when we would troll the Beanie baby forums and stuff.
None of the firewalled webtv groups are archived, probably because they were embarrassing to microsofts reputation.
