Being prepared for the inconceivable was what my depression era grandmother taught me...and my mother raised by her as well.
I'm teaching the 20 something year old housemates I have now since last week how to do stuff. Night before last I mentioned SPAM to them and they had no clue what it was....so I pulled out a can of Bacon Spam from my shelf in the pantry, sliced up some for pan frying and by itself....sort of like a before and after.
Though unfried SPAM is pretty ordinary. They loved it. The one boyfriend who is on a diet said he could eat a whole can in a sitting.... raw too.
Then I explained that my grandmother would pack lunches in the late 50's with just one can of sliced up SPAM. 2 sandwiches for my Welder grandpa, 1 sandwich for each of her then 5 kids.
I wish I brought my industrial grade dehydrator with me. It was a last minute forget on my part.... that, and my portable barbecue. I was in such a rush...
Then I got up here and saw how cheap produce was and thought what a fuckwit I am. Apples are as cheap as 15 cents USD a pound right now..... bananas 40 cents a pound.
Looked up the shipping rates and it would be cheaper buying 2 of each delivered than simply shipping from one address to another.

Having a few drinks between 4pm and midnight and conversing with people in the time zone rather than with people just waking up in the morning. The magic isn't there when one is on the terps and another member is still smelling their farts under the covers or having morning coffee. No vibe at all!
I guess Australia is just too damn good for this sort of thing aye...
Most everyday Aussies are a pretty boring and uninformed lot though.... with clear biases.

The surf is flat tomorrow so I'm overindulging a tad. I had a grouse meal of Ocean and Earth today at the RSL and topped it off with some red. The missus threw in a lazy 50 on the pokies and came out laughing with $750.00 for her efforts. Tomorrow I think we'll head off to the beach and tan our tookies at around 10am when it warms up appropriately. Fucking gotta love living in God's country! Lol...

Did you get to the beach over the weekend? Just had a pleasant surf among a pod of dolphins. Read a book while tanning my ballz too.ac_biggrin
Sat on the deck in the sun.... it was bliss.....like 20-22 degrees....
I like the beach for many reasons. Today there was a bit of wildlife about. Watched a nice Pied Oyster Catcher digging for beach worms and pipis.

I had a great night saw Bill Burr live roast the shit out of everything and everybody to a sold out Rogers arena and happened to end up the skytrain with a bunch of people from B.C place after a Lion's Game it was one drunken party on there.ac_drinks
