Not long ago I was watching a few episodes of 'Firefly' and realized I *still* don't know exactly what Joss Whedon did to suddenly become such a pariah.
I saw a lot of insults and disdain but nothing about what he'd been accused of doing.
Can anyone tell me, generally, what that's all about?
Graphic details are unnecessary/discouraged, if it's all the same.
I'd just like to finally have a clue since he has written/directed some amazing stuff and it just feels weird to even say that while not knowing the whole story.

The movie they made later, 'Serenity', based on the television show ('Firefly') was how I found out about it.
I think the show was on ScyFy or however they're spelling it these days and they botched the rollout (episodes out of order, etc.).
It only lasted one season, despite being superior to pretty much anything else I can think of being shown on commercial stations.
I gave up commercial television decades ago so it flew completely under my radar.
There's a show on HBO(?) called 'The Nevers' that's also a Whedon project and has aired two seasons so far but I don't know what's going to happen to it. It's really good too; more's the pity.
