i am reading there is a republican draft Jeb Bush for president about to kick into gear......what say you americans regarding this situation...personally i think he is probably the best choice i could think of right now.....mainly because the republicans seem so bereft of any viable candidates.....for the life of me i can't figure out why this is.....it seem that any prominent republican name turns out to be a complete nut job....i guess it's true that money can't buy brains....Romney probably would have done Ok...at least he had some business experience....i also read the republican Tea Party fundies will do what ever they can to undermine bush......seems like a crazy setup

I predict no more Bush in my lifetime. While he may be one of the most qualified candidates on the horizon, he's not going to able to shake the "Bush Stigma". This time around the GOP will need something more dynamic looking that just the same old rich white guy ticket. That being said if the Dems are true to form and hold to tradition and they pass up Hillary in favor of the sitting Vice President, a Bush/Rubio ticket could have a very, very good shot.

At the end of the first Gulf War, Bush 41 was one of the most popular presidents in the 20th century. The economy was doing well and after decades of looking like a paper tiger, the US was truly seen as the last superpower in the world. Less than two years later the economy took a dip and Clinton got elected. How's that for voter loyalty?
Furthermore Hillary NEVER enjoyed the likability factor that her scummy husband did or still does. Also there is still a strong far left segment in the Democratic Party that doesn't want Hillary as their party leader. They are going to try and carry on the Obama legacy no matter what. These are the same people who foam at the mouth at the mention of the Bush name and they are still a significant political force on the left.

Remember if Clinton was so well loved then Gore should have been his successor. If political loyalty among voters could be counted on then Gore should have defeated Bush by a landslide. Again though Renee, it is about perception and not what former prez Clinton actually did. I think Newt Gingrich deserves a helluva lot more credit for eliminating the deficit, but Bill gets all the kudos. People associate the Clintons with prosperity even as you say they had little to do with.

It's a point of fact is that when it comes to the presidential nomination no American political party has drafted a challenger over a sitting Vice President since Teddy Roosevelt supported William Howard Taft over his own VP Charles Fairbanks in 1908. If Hillary gets the nod I think it's going to divide the democrats and could cause irreparable harm to her candidacy. Her main saving grace will be that she is a woman and many idiots will vote for her on the basis of historical precedence over what is good for the country; much like the way racist morons voted for Obama because he is a black man.
As for Jeb Bush he is looking more and more like the logical choice for the GOP but he will have that negative perception left by GWB to contend with. People in the US are stupid. They don't hear the message from the candidates or see the qualifications of the candidate.
