I kinda was a "side chick" twice. The first time he told me he was leaving and all that. A month later he was still in the marital home and had all these excuses. So I ended that shit and told him to call me when he was single....as in divorce papers signed ....and if I was available cool. Although in my mind there was no way because I already knew he was a cheater. I am GLAD I did NOT sleep with him. I let him hang out with me....he would come over to my house and hang....that was it.
The second time it was a specail set of circumstances and i was willing to look past them because the man was honest and did everything he said he was going to do and he didnt hide me at all. I actually forgot he was married. Well legally contracted would be a better way of saying it. And the circumstances he married in forgave it as well. No point in telling myself "should haves" there.

Some people just click or do similar sports or hobbies, have kids in the same group, whatever. But the friendship has to be appropriate in nature.
There are people you interact with while doing normal hobbies or working with that you can get along with and stuff.
But "making friends" typically involves intimate communication.
I have male friends I've had since before I was married. One is very gay and I've been friends with him since childhood. We lived on the same street.
We both had stressful home lives and fears. I went to a charismatic Pentecostal private school. For a long time I believed that I was gonna grow up and get beheaded by the antichrist. Not even joking. I used to have nightmares about it.
At school they taught us that when we got older, the antichrist was gonna show up and give everyone the mark of the beast....which we thought was gonna be a 666 tattoo on our heads. And that if we took it we would burn in hell. But if we refused it, we would get beheaded but Jesus would take us home.
So I believed this as a kid and I used to cry about it at night.
And my friend Josh knew he liked more feminine stuff and that he liked boys and he thought if people found out they would beat him up or kill him.
So we hung out a lot as kids and we had a whole friend group but we relied a lot on eachother emotionally. He is still one of my best friends.
Than a guy I've been friends with since I was 13. And I actually took his virginity in high school. (We kinda dated for several months). But we have remained friends since and he is like a brother to me.
And the guys I know from the boards.
And that's it for male friends. My male friends are also friends with my husband. And I'm sure my guy buddies here would be buddies with my husband too. Frued has talked to him lol. Flea "knows" him on socail media.
But I wouldnt go getting close with any new male like that. Husband has a close female friend he has had since middle school. Shes also married with two kids and her daughter is fighting leukemia right now :( I know her and I'm also friends with her.
Neither of us see any benefit at all to getting close to new people of the opposite sex. Having people you know and get along with at work or for hobbies isnt really the same as making "friends"....like people you get closer to.
