Look, you're decent enough people and I like you and all, but if your benchmark for what constitutes flaming was the Brawl-Hall model and all the supposed flame sites it spawned, you really are at a disadvantage when it comes to identifying flame veterans. Brawl-Hall was created by two ex ~T~D~T~ members as a "fuck you" to both the ~T~D~T~ which was a troll site and Flame4Cash, an actual flame site where the distinction between "Flaming" and "Hating" was well understood.
Brawl-Hall, for the few flamers it legitimately boasted, never got that memo. The two trolls running the place trolled and continue to troll people into thinking they had cornered the flaming market, when really all they had done was monetized Hating off the back of pornography redirects and a newsgroup portal. The Treasurer knows what I'm talking about, as does Frood. Ceedub and Garraty might remember too. The rest of you... well, you were a little too late to the party.
Even if I'm to hold up Flame4Cash as the gold standard for flaming, it has to be said that they were already in the process of losing their way by the time Frood arrived on the scene, and that was around 2002. Brawl Hall certainly was never "It" and every afterbirth that slithered out of its mocha mudslide was an echo. Flaming only works when you've a community of people comfortable enough and talented enough to hurl violently egregious insults at each other that gets everyone laughing (yes, your target most of all).
There's simply too many people these days who would rather take offense instead and frame their response with the intent of pissing off the person that pissed them off. Fine if that's what floats your boat, it's the kinds of leftist progtard thinking that assured Brawl-Hall's inevitable 404, but it's not flaming and never was... no matter how many trolls convinced you otherwise.
