Good
Racism sucks
There is some wiggle room in Supreme Court decision for universities to sneak in some racial discrimination. There could be more decisions from the court to come.
It was legalized racist discrimination against Asian-Americans.
I usualy do not respond to Joe threads, but I will make an exception for this one.
There is not much that unites the Asian North American community, but this is probably the only issue where we speak with one voice. From eighteen year old Sanders supporters in suburban San Francisco to almost fifty year old fiscal hawks like me, all Asians in North America support the SC's decision in overturning this obvious injustice.
Probably because a meritocracy works better than pushing mental midgets to the front of the queue, just putting that out there.
The retard treatment action.
Joe is a low functioning autistic... case closed.

The retard treatment action.
It treats the people who it is supposed to help like they are retarded.

That is why they will not stop bringing up racism every five minutes.
I support some form of Affirmative action.
However, it should be economically rather than racially based.
A rich Black student doesn't need Affirmative action such as Obama's daughters.
In fact a poor white might need it a lot more than them.
I belieive before AA was overturned in the US, it was technically possible for a wealthy Black person to gain admission to top universities even tho they didn't need it.
I think that was a major flaw of Affirmative action.
and It never addressed regional disparities nor required that its beneficiaries had to give back.
However, I still think that to address economic and regional disparities, some form of AA is still needed.
If only rich or upper middle class kids get into medical or dental schools from no own, who's gonna wanna practice in places like rural; Georgia? Or a remote village in Northern Alaska.
For sure, AA needed a major overhaul tho.
I think they shoulda still kept it, but mandated that its beneficiaries had to do time where they are needed
say a minimum 15 years service in a remote or underserviced area or state.
Somewhat akin to ROTC graduates who have get their tuition/room and board paid for, but once graduated, they have to serve wherever Uncle Same/US government sends them.
Malaysia has more racist AA garbage than any other country I know of. It's the main reason why Chinese Malaysians are emigrating. Fuck racist AA and the cocksuckers who support it.

Well said!!!!
The Supreme Court unanimously ruled on June 29 that a lower court applied the wrong standard in a case about whether the U.S. Postal Service violated the constitutional rights of an evangelical Christian mail carrier when the agency refused to accommodate his wish not to work on the Sunday Sabbath.
Supporters say the decision means more employers will be required by law to respect the religious beliefs of their employees by granting them workplace accommodations.
The ruling, which comes as the Supreme Court has become increasingly protective of First Amendment-based religious freedoms in recent years, interprets for the first time in many years a 46-year-old precedent known as Trans World Airlines (TWA) v. Hardison. The 1977 decision held that to reject an employee's request for a religious accommodation under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the employer need only demonstrate that the accommodation imposes an "undue hardship" on the business.
CNN host Abby Phillip ended a segment with a fair admissions advocate on Thursday when he used facts to demonstrate the downside of affirmative action.
Kenny Xu — a board member for Students for Fair Admissions, the plaintiff in the Supreme Court case — told Phillip that academic excellence, not race, "should be prioritized" in college admissions.

Kenny Xu — a board member for Students for Fair Admissions, the plaintiff in the Supreme Court case — told Phillip that academic excellence, not race, "should be prioritized" in college admissions.
"I think that admissions should be only based on merit," he said. "Why are we asking a university to calculate somebody's level of diversity? I think that sets a very bad precedent for anybody trying to get into college. We should be treated on the basis of our merits. We should be treated on the basis of how hard we work, or study, our SAT scores, our grades."
The U.S. Supreme Court will rule on whether people under domestic violence restraining orders have the right to possess firearms, announcing Friday that it will hear a case on the matter during its next term.
The court on Friday agreed to review an appeal by President Joe Biden's administration of a lower court's ruling that found that the law ran afoul of the Second Amendment's "right to keep and bear arms" because it fell outside "our nation's historical tradition of firearm regulation."
The case involves a Texas man, Zackey Rahimi, charged with illegal gun possession while subject to a domestic violence restraining order after assaulting his girlfriend. Rahimi challenged the law after being charged under it in 2021.

I think it is nuts to let folks on a current restraining order buy any firearm. Once the restraining order is lifted, then they can exercise their second amendment rights.

Like the FISA court, that sounds perfectly reasonable. The problem is that the government abuses its power.

What's never been reasonable is facing 5-15 counts for the same crime.
Governments rely on the plea bargain scheme to secure convictions off the backs of innocents and mild offenders.
But FISA too did away with so many protections. For our safety... lol

Exactly.
I have a good friend that was up on charges for embezzlement. Turned out another guy was responsible and had recruited a lower level employee to help him. Well, the stress of the investigation killed the lower level guy and then the guy who actually did it hanged himself when the walls closed in on him. Since the FBI had so much invested in the case, they went back to my friend to pin it on him. He fought it for 7 years and finally, his money ran out. He wound up taking a plea deal and served 18 months so he could get on with his life.

Anybody who supports Affirmative Action is a racist fuckstick.
Imagine two babies from different ethnic backgrounds being raised in this day and age, going to school together, playing together, and then one finds out they don't have to work as hard to get what they want and the other told that they have to overperform to get the same outcome.... but even then, it's no guarantee that overperforming will be rewarded because the goalposts are constantly shifting against the overperformer.
I have a cousin like that... she was a quarter Chippewa but never knew her father. He was trouble from the start.
So here I was working up to 50 hours a week and going to uni full-time over the course of a year, and my mind and body were imploding.... I was hanging on by a thread with little sleep...my sanity was going.
And then I saw the deal she was getting... absolutely free everything.
Lovely gal but she took what they offered and didn't feel remorse about it.
So wrong....
