I had handed over the Administrator account to Joel which was highly unpopular with a faction of the KOF membership. As every KOF were and always had been Global Mods they showed their displeasure by tossing most of the threads into the ol' byte bucket. At that point I couldn't be arsed with any of it anymore so even after the dust settled and I re-started the forum with a clean slate it was never the same with only a handful of the previous membership still hanging around.
The deletions and exodus weren't directly Joel's fault and I never held a grudge about that. The rebels or whatever you want to call them chose their own path and the result was completely their doing.
Hell, the thing I now miss most about that forum was customizing its Themes.
That's my jam, as it were.

Sounds like the IP bans were generated automatically by anti-spam software and the forum admins weren't aware of how the process worked.
If they didn't want you there they'd have simply banned the account not the IP address.
