This egregious state of affairs is something they might have fought to circumvent, their willingness to involve themselves in attack politics instead is the reason they are looking unmoored and despairing now.

It's not the age that's the problem. A gerontocracy can work if they are cognitively competent.




That's 71. Mentally active and spritely... and dead three months later, sure, but here is an example of someone that can process information and string a sentence together.

Finestein cannot. Fetterman cannot. Pelosi cannot. Biden... cannot. Not reliably at any rate, and this has been the case since before the age that Carlin died in Biden's case. Fetterman is even more striking an example, he's younger than I am and comes out with gems like "Hello....goodnight". I could easily take him in a war of wits.

Age shouldn't be your metric. Ability should.
