The way I see it, Russians live in a dictatorship where if they step out of line, they get disappeared. Meanwhile, Cucknadians are lulled into perpetual apathy with shiny trinkets.

I can't answer about Russia, because I have never been there, let alone lived there. But, I can tell you that Canada a country where the Supreme Court has ruled that the PM misused draconian measures that were only meant to be implemented under extremely grave conditions to persecute his political opponents, jail them, and seize their bank accounts. I can also tell you the PM wanted to use tanks on peaceful protesters, but the country's top general said no.

Its disgusting that this didnt result in an automatic expulsion from government! After all, he's basically been convicted of abuse of power!
