Title: so Ollie I spoke with somebody today from your home state of Arizona
Post by: JOE on February 14, 2024, 10:16:07 PM
...and she wasn't very pleased with the direction of your country.

She told me homelessness everywhere, the middle class is dead in America, money aint worth nothin', and she fears a return of Trump will lead to Civil War.

She doesn't like Trump at all.
But wasn't terribly optimistic about Biden either.

But it's like Garraty said in another forum - which is can't really trust the MSM saying the economy is up, they appear to lie about its true state and the general health of American society.

Now...since I don't live in the US of A, those aren't my opinions or POV.I jes try ta keep an open mind and listen to different viewpoints from either side.

I'm sure when the American tourists come up this summer to Canada I'll hear an earful from either side too. I got along with them both I suspect - because I don't take sides, but just listen to what they have to say. Should be intersting as the election season heats up down south - which I suspect will be a deadly affair just like 2020.

Yup. Hard to afford an apartment when 10,000 people a day are pouring in over the border.

Not yet but it will be soon if we don't get rid of Biden.

Ain't worth much but 16 bucks will still get you a Big Mac combo.

Oh yeah most people here are stupid as dirt. Well I guess I shouldn't say that, dirt can grow things.

I'm not from here actually, I'm an L.A. boy (but I wouldn't go anywhere near the place). Moved here when I got priced out of Cali. Good thing I bought my house 24 years ago or I'd be priced out of here too.

Not my POV, Lokmar!

I'm just repeating what she said.

I don't know what the true state of your country is these days, Bud!

Yer the ones on the ground who can provide eyewitness accounts as it happens....Lokmar!

I often wonder what is REALLY happening in America these days.

Not the spoon fed version from the MSM.

There must be a reason why Biden is way behind Trump in Michigan these days.

A lotta people in America must be hurtin' if they're gonna vote fer Trump even tho many say they hate the guy.

Canada too....Trudeau behind his Conservative challenger by 20 points?

What'd I say...Lokmar!?

Actually I remarked in the Shoutbox that the Democrats made a lotta mistakes which may lead to their undoing.

Ie their refusal to back the Keystone pipeline and cancel the project.

Given that inflationary pressures the USA had experienced and how it hurt the working class I thought it was a poor decsions...Lokmar.

But even the more moderate Democrats remarked on the shortsightedness of those policies.

Hillary Clinton, who ya'll seem ta hate, also supported that water project in Maine citing the benefits and reduced energy costs. But the Progressive Wing of the Democratic party had that and the pipeline cancelled.

They were selfish, they got their way and now they'll probably pay the price.

The Democrats failed to listen to their traditionally working class blue collar base.

I don't like your St. Trump much, Lokmar.

But if you do, that's your biz.

Same time, I've pointed out the flaws of the Democrats' strategy and have been unsparing towards them.

I'm not a rah rah Biden type either.
If the Democrats threw him under the bus, it'd actually boost their fortunes.

I think Trump lost the 2020 election fair and square, but if the Dems run Biden again and lose, I believe that outcome will be fair and square as well.

And if Biden loses, will you still think the electoral process in your country is unfair? Or will you jeer at the other side like a sore winner?

Like I said, I have no stake in either party so I can afford to make criticisms of both.
If you don't like my POV, too bad.
And my impression of the Republican party is it's controlled by the Rabid Right.
However, the Dems not much better as they seem to be controlled by the Loony Left, Bud. Personally if I were an American, I wouldn't support nor vote for either.
I'd be an Independent instead.

Like I said, I'm not a cheerleader for either cause.

I think Trump legitimately lost in 2020, DKG.

2020 Trump consistently trailed Biden in the polls.

HOWEVER....this time is different.

as you pointed out in one of your posts, this time Trump is actually ahead in the polls and Biden is trouble.

If that doesn't send a message to the Democrats, I don't know what does.

They should give Biden the boot imho

2024 doesn't favor Biden this time round.

It is his way of distancing his true self from his online persona at times when he has presented his real self in his online persona and he has been shown to be a real dumb cunt.

But it does not work.

It only provides temporary relief, because he knows that it was his true self that was attacked and made to feel foolish.

Hey Lokmar 3I bought more gold coins today!

All told a full ounce of gold.

I'm gettin' a bit smarter about it.

Followed yer advice.

'Stead of buyin' too much collector, I buy da Gold mostly for its metal content now.

I've discovered there are deals ta be had where the coin actually sells for less than their silver or gold content, eh?

Those are the ones ta go for. Cuz if yer payin less for the coin than it's actually worth, it's a 'steal' eh Lokmar!?

They're around....Lokmar!

I bought these gold pens from an estate sale for really cheap too.

...Like $10 US each?

2 of them I saw on eBay are worth $200 US ea.

You just have ta dig 'n look.

The deals are out there.

I find the best deals are had when they have valuable metals or elements in 'em. gold, platinum, silver....palladium(?).

I also bought a gold ring for less than its face value too.
Had it tested for gold content, eh?

However, I also missed out some good deals for British sovereigns which sold well below their melt value. And that's high grade and even collector gold too.

These deals come up, ya jes have ta find 'em, eh?

Here's one:

https://stacksbowers.com/

https://archive.stacksbowers.com/

That's a big coin dealer in yer country. Stacks and Bowers. Been around for a long time.

They often send me unsold/leftover listings of items that didn't sell in their auctions.

Unlike their auctions, I also think their aftersales don't have any buyer's premiums on them either. you could ask them.

So if you get them below asking you don't pay extra other than shipping and sales taxes. I imagine some states are tax free like Oregon and Montana.

I once tried to buy a deal I saw on their leftover listings, but I got there too late as someone else pounced on it and snapped it up. And I think that was well below the list price too.

If you get on their mailing list they'll email that kinda stuff to you.

Heritage Auctions another.

ha.com

Sometimes they have after the auctions sales too.
I know they don't charge any premiums on the after auction items.

Stacks and Bowers frequently have these precious metals  or coins by weight auctions.

I'll give ya a hint at least.

It's the foreign, non-Canadian, non-British, non-American GOLD coins where the deals are most likely to be had and you have the best chance of getting a deal ....Lokmar!

Stuff that says 'Bahamas', 'Cayman Islands' 'Cyprus' or 'Iran' on them. In other words, the less popular countries that nobody often bother with.

But I'm not sure if gold coins from Iran are allowed inta the USA.

I know it's highly unlikely you'll get deals like that on USA/American coins which are usu very expensive and they generally go for over asking and unlikely to go below face value or par.

Generally USA coins are the best selling and are in the highest demand.

..the same one I bought.

I was tracking it to see what it'd go for.

I think after shipping and taxes I paid about the same or bit below that.

a WORD of CAUTION though:

Be careful where you are buying from and that these things aren't FAKES.

You always take a risk when you buy online too.

That is the thread where he said he bought the coins.

Obviously if Liar Joe has actually bought the coins, he would have posted a picture of a coin that he actually bought.  Not a picture of a coin that he was "tracking".

Do you know how pathetic it is to lie about such boring, lame shit as a gold coin worth about $1000 Senile Joe?

a WORD of CAUTION though:

Be careful where you are buying from and that these things aren't FAKES.

You always take a risk when you buy online too.

Good job, josephine! You found one that sold for $10 under todays spot price!

Our financial system is rather fragile dumb Prowler.

While I realize that precious metals aint the end all be all, I wouldn't put all my money into electronic mediums either.

Much of the money you saved up in yer retirement fund is illusory, Prowler. I'm not saying all of it is but it's not completely sound either.

Some people tell me ta put it all the bank

While I think that it's good advice to save, I don't think all of it should go there.

And you realize that gold always costs more than its spot price, dum Prowler?

So if the Spot says $2750 cad per ounce, the dealer puts a surcharge of 65-100 exta.

So the real cost is often $2850 or so

Not from a clearing house for bullion. They have to keep the lights on. Buying and selling gold is about having a safety net, josephine. You dont invest to make shit tons of money although at some point in the next 10 years, silver will probably hit $50/oz again. Of course it might hit $11/oz before that!

Gold is a hedge. So is silver.
Safe havens in the event of economic crisis.

I'll hold it for a while to see what happens.
Just go long on it.

Same time, It isn't the only thing I'll buy or invest in.

If it goes up, great, but if it doesn't, just sell it back to the market at what I paid for it.

Kinda like getting a refund.

I watched some shrub bring in a bunch of collector shit on a youtube channel today. He got scrap. Someone paid a retarded premium when those coins were new.

I'm not saying THAT gold  cuck coin at THAT money wasnt a good deal, it was. In general tho, those collector coins are a terrible investment. I'd rather have a gold eagle or maple. Sure, they cost a bit more, but they hang on to their premiums as well. In a SHTF situation, collector coins wont be accepted for barter with as much confidence as the big 3:
American Silver Eagles
Cucknadian Maples
Chuck Britanias

One thing I've noticed about our Canadian dollar.
It's essentially tied to the price of oil.

And if oil happens to go down, so does the Canadian dollar.

However, if there is a medium of exchange tied either to the US dollar, the Euro or Swiss franc which holds its value which maintains or increases purchasing power for the consumer.

They can buy more or at least as much if the currency becomes devalued.

I wouldn't doubt that the Canadian dollar could see a steep devaluation in the future. In the past, it has gone down to as low as .60 to .63 cents US. Another country which is similarly affected is Australia. New Zealand as well. actually they get hit even harder than Canada.

And that's precisely where something like gold and silver come in. They preserve the purchasing value of the currency.

Nations which have experienced steep currency devaluations and hyper inflation include Argentina and Brazil. Holding a bit of gold and silver could have gone a long way for many of their citizens.

Well, that's why I try to buy the coins close to their melt or spot value. So they'll always be worth something.

I believe in the US, if you buy gold or silver bullion in most states it isn't taxed.

is that correct?

It is in Canada.

so you can buy the most good looking and expensive gold or silver coin, and as long as it has 99.99% purity, it isn't taxed.

but if it falls below that purity, then it gets taxed.

Gold, silver and platinum are exempt.

But palladium is not.

I think a few states tax bullion no matter the purity. Fuck those states tho, the people just drive to the next state and buy. Libtard democARTs are ignorant AF!

Illinois doesnt tax, ironically enough and we have a dealer here that directly buys Silver Eagles from the US Mint.

Here's how gold/silver bullion are taxed in the US

https://modernsurvivalblog.com/money/states-that-do-and-dont-tax-the-sale-of-gold-silver-bullion/

The US let's the states decide.

But in Canada it's a federal jurisdiction and they don't tax bullion. Even it's high grade proof or collector type. Just as long as it's 99.99% pure.

Like I said, people that live in states where there's tax buy out of state. Its no different than when I do a bunch of shopping in Missouri for lower prices and less tax. Also, when I drive to Wisconsin or Missouri, I get just enough gas to get me out of Illinois. Its not like I save much, but every little bit fucks Illinois!

At least I can buy bullion in town tax free.

It actually matters where you get items you bought shipped to.

If you get it shipped to Washington state, it's like nearly 10% sales tax.

But if you get it shipped to Oregon across the state border, 0%.

so if the item is like $4000, the buyer could save $400.
