I can't help but laugh when people celebrate that kind of legislation because it *appears* to be aimed at someone they don't like when they should know full well that eventually it will be used against "their side" too.
It's not even the law of unintended consequences... it's the law of inevitable consequences. But pwning "the other team" in the short term is more important than silly stuff like freedoms, liberty, or creeping authoritarianism I reckon.
