Title: Thinking of buying some land instead of an apartment/condo
Post by: JOE on October 10, 2024, 06:26:03 PM
Got any suggestions?

I'm gettin this idea from some YouTube videos I've seen lately.

What are the drawbacks?

The cons?

Too much work. Get a condo and let someone else cut the grass.

One time in my old apartment I heard the neighbor guy yell "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME"... I look out and see his wife coming out of another neighbors apartment buck naked and he's following her screaming "WITH THAT SCRAWNY LITTLE RUNT?"

We got some great gossip out of that one  :t9006:

Back on topic. It's a fucking apartment dude. You're living amongst fucking strangers. A fucking multiplex of them. Imagine all the turds getting channeled around your aura! Other people's shit literally getting pumped around your vicinity. Wake up you turd burglar.

A sane person with cash gets acreage and a house with a big fuck-arse swimming pool that they naturally change into a koi pond, because they live by the sea.

Fucking apartment! Are you a mature-age student or what the fuck?

I think lands don't increase in value nearly as fast as homes despite how attractive they look.  Joe should just stick to the apartment when he's too old to shovel snow.

Hey Herman  things been the same for me, the tshirt stuff should be slowing again but kind of happy that's the case since it's mostly just work and all going to rent and overhead anyways, lol.

Joe can never seem to make up his own mind, but I have to admit he still has some entertainment purposes along with this questionable lifestyle.

Well Z etsu, I looked on some websites for apartments in Vancouver lately and they're minimally $400,000  While I could afford it, I'd essentially use up all of my savings for a tiny box in the city. So I'd have no money left over for other things like investments, luxury goods, vacations, buying a new car, etc.

Meanwhile a semi finished parcel of land outside Vancouver can be had for less than $200,000 Plus I'd have money left over at the end of the day to spend on other things.

The problem with condo apartments is they still cost money once you 'buy' them. $700,800 - 1000 in monthly taxes and strata fees?

I don't know how an apartment could cost more than a piece of land.

At one time condos were considered an affordable form of real estate for people who couldn't afford to buy a single detached home. Now they cost almost as much as a house. sometimes more depending on location.

Or am I missing something? Can you fill me on on the advantages of buying a condo?

What's your take?

Land you buy it, then its yours, no monthly strata fees, annual taxes are less than a monthly strata fee.

Buy a city condo seems like an endless money pit.

Hey avatar_Herman Herm, some of those Vancouver apartments are worth more than yer farm.

Mind you, why anyone would pay $2-3 Million for a 2 BR apartment is beyond me.

A leasehold apartment more expensive than several acres of permanent title farmland?

Must be all the rejects who can't get into the US so they buy up all the real estate here instead.

In your case a piece of land piece of land might be a better choice than a condo.  The people I know, the young couples buy it mainly to get close to work, for elders it does offer a layer of security and the convenience without the need for property maintenance/repairs.

Frankly speaking Joe and no offense intended, but from my parent's friend's experience, they all say senior homes are the best choice for people with no kids to look after them.  There's a cook, nurses and caretakers standby 24/7, social groups and some events, etcs.  At your age investing on land is a huge gamble and so is other property now China's economy has hit the sh*tter.

Those places yiu refer to are seniors homes. Residence only starts at $5000 per mo. Assisted living upwards of $10,000 or more?

There was an over 50 residence recommended to me in Abbotsford, a suburb 60 miles from dt Vancover Z etsu. No frills like cooks tho or prepared meals

Price tag? $350,000.

Abbosford is pretty far from Vanvouver as I frequently drove out there as a Limo driver

Besides being expensive a number of these suburban communities are not free from social problems found in dt vancouver. Homelessness, drug addicts, petty crime etc. used to be people moved out there to escape these problems but theyve followed residents into the suburbs as well

Yeah im starting to wonder if Chinas real estate crisis will affect us too since many are investors are from Asia

Somehow i dont think the locals can always rely upon the foreigners plunking down thrir money to invest here. One day the re gravy tran might dry up

I keep forgetting this is Van and I'm using Toronto prices as comparison.  On the good side now that mainland China's housing bubble market has collapse like Jenga, chances are property prices in Vancouver and Toronto will at least stop inflating and might decline by a bit for the next couple of years.

Now it all makes much more sense, before I thought it was odd he has gold investment, a limo driver job and other things I didn't bother to remember.

Seems like the only logical thing he ever said was he's still hoping to own a home, which he had endless chances before.  No sympathy for him, lol.

Senile Joe, why not just continue living in your government subsidized low rent apartment?

Spend your money on fun stuff like cruises and train/bus trips.

Go to Europe for a vacation.

If you want a travel companion to give you protection, I will go with you for the right price.

But no faggot stuff or I will beat the living shit out of you.

Quote from: Lab Flaker on November 08, 2024, 09:42:21 PMSo on this forum he's witnessed a guy telling me to stab my wife, and then on another forum he's asking me why I'm so upset and asking if I've taken my meds? I keep telling the Joe that I don't take drugs , but he persists with the same rhetoric over and over. It's like....dude!? You know what went down and why my wife is so angry with Rancidojismo! Fuuuuuck???
Joe's trolling is too predictable and frickin boring. I am surprised anybody still responds to him.

Quote from: DKG on November 08, 2024, 10:22:28 AMEverything Joe posts are lies.

He used to post about his poverty. Now he posts about investing for senior citizens. My online time is finite and I have no time to spare for his attention starved bs.

I think he received some inheritance after losing a parent or something.... pretty sure he mentioned on VF that he had a sick relative to look after.

I noticed not long after that he started talking about gold/silver and investing etc, which gave the impression that he had come into some money.

It could be a troll, I don;t know, I only know what I've read on here. Personally though, I don't see the point in lying about something like this, unless the intention is to stir up jealousy and butthurt.

I don't know about that, but she passed away more than once.

Old Joe lies so much he forgets all the lies he has told.

We're not laughing at your family Joe, but you gotta admit you do make up too much stuff and insult other people's expenses too.

Like everybody else, I don't want to know about his fake life. He is exactly like Edward on VF. Posting threads about his non existent life. Both of them need new hobbies.

Oh as if some people here dont frequently take swipes at me. Yeah i take my fair share of abuse but if the abusers cant take their own medicine they should go back to mommy.

I dont instigate fights tho i put forth pov not terribly popular in this forum

Anyway im not like seamajor whom yall hate. I try to refrain from making personal attacks on others even others do it to me

I dont make personal attacks based on gender or physical attributes towards posters like Dove caskur or Ravey. I may disagree with them but i never attack them personally or their character. Actually i agree with a few of them on the issue of abortion which is free choice. Not dove tho

You do really need to learn post-apartheid atrocities though. The black people that you're so fond of are killing each other like no other time in history.

Over 500 000 murders Joe!
Sell your accumulated gold and donate some money to the destitute...I do!

I swear, JDS (Joe Derangement Syndrome) is a legit phenomenon around the forums.   :Doh2:

Is Joe irritating, repetitive and long-winded, at times? Yes, and (worst of all) does he lean left? Again, yes... but he's Canadian ffs, so the libtard mindset should be expected.

However, as I've mentioned before, he is far from being the worst or most toxic poster who frequents these parts and I feel that he gets targeted quite often due to ancient grudges and for being low hanging e-fruit.

Joe and the oldskool (Asian) regs on here have unsquashed beef, which spans back to the pre-BC, VF days, where he complained about them and apparently asked for their sub to be shut down.

The only reason I'm making this post is because I'm tired of reading unwarranted criticism and hysteria, aimed at a user who is mostly non-controversial, only posts semi-regularly and when he makes the effort, can be genuinely funny.
