Don't know why we're lacking a 1980's song thread, but we're fixing that. Lotsa good music came outta that decade.
Huey Lewis & the News had a great run of hits and popularity, but my favorite song by them wasn't a big one. Well, it only goes to show - the chart makers don't know everything:

Reagan got suckered by dems on Amnesty. He admitted it repeatedly and stated it was one of his biggest regrets. It was DEMOCRATS fault/doing tho. Thats a historical FACT! He broke the USSR and that was fantastic. He funded his operations in foreign countries (which I would do if I were POTUS) by selling missiles, which I approved of. I did NOT approve of him lying about it. He should have stood up straight and told congress GFY. Wars? We didnt have any vietnams or Iraq type wars when he was in office. Thats bullshit.
As far as outsourcing jobs, every single POTUS after reagan, especially Bildo Clinton was far WORSE!

Dude, that aint true! I know for a FACT that democRATs were pro amnesty then and every administration since then! DemocRATs ran the fucking congress 100% until Newt in 1994! How the fuck would we get Amnesty with a democRAT ran congress if they opposed mexcrements?
The USSR was broke from the get go. Fuck, as a Ukranian, you should know that! My best friends mom hosted Eastern Bloc people in Springfield IL for years! I've heard the stories. Reagan and Thatcher keept the pressure on them. Once Eastern Germany and Poland got out from under their grip, coupled with trying to keep pace with our military spending, they were fucked. If we had another term of Carter followed by Mondale, the USSR would have went on. Carter was a complete fucking failure.
Back to the wars tho, Reagan had small skirmishes but no wars.

Good story. I've had similar disappointments, such as the time I saw Aerosmith many years ago. Now, Tyler didn't fall off the stage, but he was fucked up and the sound was shit. They played about 45-50 minutes and that was more than enough that particular night.

Aerosmith kicked ass the one time I got to see them. Unfortunately for that one I was all fucked up and don't recall much except they kicked ass.
Anyway, speaking of disappointing acts, that same summer I attended one of those Monsters of Rock shows at a motor speedway in Rockford, Illinois. The show featured for act 2: The Babies, who at that moment in time were up-and-coming and had a hit on the charts. Act 3 was Nazareth, act 4 was Cheap Trick, and the day finished out with Heart, who were at the top of their fame.
Act 1, the warm up band, were some rockers from Australia called AC/DC. They rocked the fucking snot out of the 50,000 or so watching. I saw AC/DC about 5 times after that and they always rocked the house.
And the poor Babies had to come on after them. It wasn't pretty. They were literally booed off the stage. They even tried to go into their song that was a current hit for a second song, but the booing only got louder. I never heard much of the Babies after that.
Great story, Cochise! I've seen Nazareth and Cheap Trick, but not AC/DC nor The Babies. In that regard, did you see the Babies or the Babys?
Amen.

Based on what you've told me so far. I'm thinking it was The Babys. The Babies weren't formed until 2008 and don't appear to have had any hits.
Here's one by what we'll now refer to as The Cry Babys:
If I'm correct about that, I'd certainly agree The Babys should've never been put on a bill with the likes of Nazareth, AC/DC and Cheap Trick, no matter how many fuckin' hits they had.

Yeah, that's them. You sleuthed it out, Music Man. And I think that's even the song that was popular at the time that they pathetically tried to save their show.
You gotta remember, though, no one really knew who AC/DC were at the time, although the buzz was all over. It might have been better to let the Babys warm up and make AC/DC act 2. I think the crowd would have treated them better.
I'm happily envious of you. You got to see AC/DC with Bon Scott! That musta been a helluva show.

Dude! I'd heard of them before that, but they're one of those bands you have to see live to appreciate. They were definitely more "organic" in the Bon Scott days. I saw them twice after Brian Johnson took over, but it wasn't quite the same vibe. They were HUGE by then, of course.
Side Note: During that first show I saw them in Rockford, Angus got up on Bon's shoulders and they both went into the crowd as Bon screamed and Angus shredded. It was a schtick they did in the early days because Angus had his wireless Gibson SG, which was new high tech then. They came right up to where I was standing in front of the sound booth (because that's where the best sound always is) and they stood right in front of me -- Bon fucking Scott with Angus fucking Young on his shoulders and Angus was flinging his disgusting Aussie sweat all over me!
It was one of the coolest rock experiences I ever had. :)
Gabriele Kerner is a German singer known as Nena. This song came out originally in German, but an English version was released. I read that the band was unhappy with the English version because it was not a literal translation. They did not want to be seen as a protest band.
