The largest raw Gold DEPOSITS (not finished product) for the purposes of mining can be found in Australia:

Top five countries with the largest gold mine reserves in the world
1. Australia – 10,000 tonnes

Australia is way out in front as the country with the largest gold mine reserves in the world at 10,000 tonnes.

The nation was the second-largest gold producer behind China in 2019, after ramping up its production levels to 330 tonnes from 315 tonnes in 2018.

It is home to some of the biggest gold deposits in the world, with Newcrest's Cadia Valley mine in New South Wales the largest facility of its type in the country.

BHP, the biggest mining firm in the world, is headquartered in Melbourne, while the second-largest company Rio Tinto has a number of mines across Australia.

Very interesting Seoul..

I just checked and it appears the USA has two thirds of the world's gold reserves..

China would be higher except for Chiang Kai Shek taking China's gold when the KMT fled to Taiwan in 1949..

Russia has a lot of gold, I assume it's minable, but is not top ten when in deposit holdings.

Jo Jo Sweetie remember I explained to you after we had sex last night that gold deposits, proven or not don't mean much.

Those deposits will never be mined. That would devalue the commodity.

That isn't the world... that is just the Northern Hemisphere.

Australia has the most Gold.   And Western Australia in particular.

Kalgoorlie mine has been going for over 100 years. The super pit is the biggest open cut mine in the world

Why can't Canada earn money from their gas?

Because stupid Australia gives away gas for free...

In view of this, many Australians might be surprised to learn that a large amount of the country's gas reserves are essentially being given away for free. Australia has ten facilities that export gas as liquified natural gas (LNG).6 Aug 2024

You have been misled then...

Gold mining in Western Australia

Main article: Mining in Western Australia

Gold mining in Western Australia is the third largest commodity sector in Western Australia (WA), behind iron ore and LNG, with a value of A$17 billion in 2021–22. The 6.9 million troy ounces (214 tonnes) sold during this time period was the highest amount in 20 years and accounted for almost 70 percent of all gold sold in Australia.

Actually what is the significance of size of Gold Reserves avatar_DKG DKG? Or anyone else here care to weigh in? ...Lokmar?

If we're no longer on a Gold Standard why do nations especially the USA stack so much Gold?

Is it used as collateral?

Is the US planning to revalue Gold?

Why all of a sudden this interest in Gold & Fort Knox?

Will the Trump administration use Gold as backing for their Strategic Cryptocurrency Reserve or proposed Sovereign Wealth Fund?

No, that wasn't only the Northern hemisphere, it's the entire world.

The United States has the world's larges gold reserves. By a country mile too.

A look at Western Australia
There are currently 66 operating gold mines in Australia including 14 of the world's largest, 11 of which are in Western Australia making it the country's major gold producer, accounting for almost 70 per cent of Australia's total gold production.

I am not talking about Australia or gold mines/resources. Gold reserves are not mines/resources in the ground not owned by a nation's central bank.

A gold reserve is the gold held by a national central bank, intended mainly as a guarantee to redeem promises to pay depositors, note holders(paper money).

Do you understand the difference now caskur or do you require further explanation?

Fort Knox, Indiana is where America's gold reserves are held. Not in any mine.

Gold Reserves in Australia averaged 77.63 Tonnes from 2000 until 2024, reaching an all time high of 79.87 Tonnes in the first quarter of 2024 and a record low of 48.83 Tonnes in the fourth quarter of 2019.

In your first post you only list Northern Hemisphere countries but if you google as I did, who has the highest gold reserves in the southern hemisphere... it says this...

Australia is estimated to have the world's largest gold reserves, with 9,500 tonnes or 17 per cent of the total world estimated gold reserves of 57,000 tonnes. Geoscience Australia estimates that 60 per cent of Australia's gold reserves are in Western Australia.

CANADA HAS a gold mine ( not reserves) in my state...

Also I am pretty sure Indonesia and South Africa has plenty of Gold.... I am talking mines here not reserves.

West Aust is famous for minerals of which every human on earth has a piece of our minerals...

It was once said of the Japanese, America was their grain bowl,  Europe was their boutique.  And Australia was their mine. (Now it's China)

I thought that was quaint.

And people are buying gold to invest against the big crash but I don't know really if we can guarantee anything.

I just learned in the last hour that vandals are terrorising Elon Musk and wrecking peoples Tesla's with spray paint.

Now if you ask how much we have in Gold in the Reserve bank we have 80 TONNES...vvvv

How much gold does the Reserve Bank hold? As part of Australia's official reserve assets, the Reserve Bank holds an amount of gold. Including gold that is on loan, the RBA's holdings amount to 80 tonnes, with the full value of these holdings recorded as an asset on the RBA's balance sheet.

Canada doesn't have gold reserves anymore.....they were sold off by Justin Trudeau's government.
