I'll begin with one of my favourite duets. . . .
Good thread ideas, formosan. :good:
I may be stretching the common perception of "duet" a bit, but I don't mind at all. :yeahhh: I'm callin' this a duet consisting of a great band plus a guitar god. The song is originally from Led Zeppelin's Physical Grafitti album:
Amen.

It puzzles me that I just can't make myself like that song, because I really like Dolly and Kenny. In fact, I saw Kenny in concert twice, may he rest in peace.
Amen.
This duet is somewhat similar to the one I posted with Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes. This one joins Stevie Nicks with Tom Petty
and The Heartbreakers:
Amen.

I heard that song this morning. :good:

A classic country duet, this song won the CMA Song of the Year and Vocal Duet of the Year awards in 1981. David is the younger brother of Lefty Frizzell and Shelly is the daughter of Dottie Wedt:
Amen.
One of the most successful duet songs ever was written by Carson Parks and his wife, Gail Foote. Frank Sinatra and daughter Nancy turned it into a huge international hit in 1967:
Amen.
Country duets don't come any better than this 1981 classic by Shelly West & David Frizzel. It also appeared in the Clint Eastwood flick "Every Which Way You Can":

I have seen that movie two or three times. I do not remember that song in it.

My bad, amigo. It's "
Any Which Way You Can". This is from Wikipedia:
"...You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" is a song from the film Any Which Way You Can, performed by American country music artists David Frizzell and Shelly West. ..."
Amen.

Every Which Way But Loose was the original and Any Which Way You Can was the sequel.
I have seen both of them. I do not remember that song.
But, it has been a long time since I have seen either movie. So, I will give you the benefit of the doubt. I remember the orangutan and the fights. Not the songs.
John Prine and Iris DeMent - one of my all-time favorite duets. The simple, melodic singing is surpassed only by the lyrics:
Amen.
This song traces back to at least 1850 and the lyrics have evolved, expanded and mutated over the years. Johnny Lee and Lane Brody had a duet hit with it in 1984:
Amen.
This duet is classified as country. I don't get that pigeonholing of the song into that category, other than Blake being half of the duet. Regardless, it is one of my favorites and that's because it is a great song being sung by two singers at the very top of their game:
Amen.
Just about everything Simon & Garfunkel did was a duet. Hell, that's what duos typically do - duets. They've sold over a hundred million records and this song is but one of many dozens of songs why. I especially love the riff:
Amen.

This is the kind of English language music Mom likes.

And your mom is Priscilla, yes?
I'll dedicate another song I expect she'll like.
Amen.

Yes, she's my Mom.
This is one of Loggins & Messina's best songs in my opinion, although it wasn't released as a single. This is from their second album released in 1972:
Amen.
