God I hate AC/DC.
AC/DC is music for people whose car only starts when they take a breathalyzer.

I never said I like AC DC, I said Brian Johnson is a good vocalist. And he does have a unique voice.
Another example like that is Chad Kroeger. I am not really a fan of Nickelback, but Chad is a good vocalist.
James Hetfield is a gifted singer.

I like AC/DC very much. And I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs. Imagine that. They have their own sound and they've stuck with it over many years. I prefer the Bon Scott vocals, but he died and that's that. All things considered, Brian Johnson did a great job carrying the band forward after the tragedy.
Amen.

Fair enough Stuart.
The lead singer that died had a unique voice too.
I don't like Queen, but Freddie Mercury was considered one of the great vocalists.

A lotta folks don't know that Joan Jett's big hit song is a cover. The Arrows were based in London from 1974 to 1977. Here is the original:

I saw Joan Jet back when at Navy Pier in Chicago. She put on a great show and definitely looked like a rode hard and put away wet sweaty whore.

Actually, I knew this. A former poster, Mel posted this video several years ago.
I like Scott Stapp's baritione voice.

While we are on the subject of singers with distinctive voices, Geddy Lee fits that bill. I can hear one word and immediately recognize his voice.

I went with friends though.

Damn kid, you saw Plant and Page live. I aint a fan, but that is still something to talk about.
I will tell you folks another singer that sucked live - Vince Neil.
I saw the Crue in the eighties. Even when he was young, Vince Neil would run out of oxygen and could not sing a lot of the words.

I admit to being a bit surprised that Steven Tyler had yet to be mentioned. My fan relationship with Aerosmith has run hot and cold.
I saw them live back in the 70's. The sound was shitty and they played less than an hour. But, it cannot be denied that they are the most successful rock band in America with over 150 million records sold.
This song was their kickoff to the big time and I think it showcases Tyler in his prime and at his best. Plus, it's really good:
Amen.
No thread of this topic would be complete without Linda Ronstadt. This song was written by Gary B. White and is one of Linda's best, IMHO. Sadly, Linda can no longer sing, due to progressive palsy:
Amen.

I don't like the Beatles, but honourable mention has to be given to Paul McCartney.

Yep thats why I went. I also saw Bob Dylan and I was right up in the front.
I am NOT a Bob Dylan fan. But if a legendary musician comes to Detroit, I'm down to see them.
4 years ago I almost went with a friend to see Rolling Stones and I hate the Rolling Stones lol. But...how funny to watch a group of old ass man in their 80s put on a concert lol.
I ended up declining that invite because it was gonna be A LOT of driving. I was still living out in the boonies.
She sent me lots of video footage though lol.

The beautiful Gayle McCormick passed away in 2016. She doesn't have a particularly large body of work. Why? She got her ass full of the downside of the music business, left it behind and never looked back. She remains, however, unforgettable. This is her big hit with a band called Smith:

An artist I was not familiar with.
I could've put this in the Country thread. But IMHO, LeAnn Rimes has one of the best voices I have ever heard. Yes, I saw her live.
