Over $300 million to make and they're not going to come close to breaking even.  Investors will want somebody's head to roll for this.   :crampe:

I think that's Blair White you're thinking of.

That movie was always cursed though wasn't it?

I seem to remember hearing long ago about a bunch of re-shoots they decided to do because of negative feedback about the dwarves for some reason. It's the kind of trouble studios get into when their focus is on cashing in with a reboot instead of producing an original piece of work. The project gets mired in focus groups and spreadsheet analysis and the bean counters have veto power over the creative team, resulting in a movie made by accountants and lawyers instead of artists.

Greed isn't a good substitute for art.
You'd think the big brains at such a long-established outfit like Disney would already know that.

If greed is the motive, why woke. Wokeness seldom helps a company's bottom line. Did they not learn anything from the Bud Light woke flop.

Wow, what a big surprise. Like we didn't know this was going to happen. Ever since the narcissistic little twat they cast as Snow White opened her woke mouth this production has had fail written all over it.

Wokeness was a thing there for a while and bean counters love to surf the wave of "what's hot".

That was no doubt part of the problem... they kept trying to adjust on the fly to what the focus groups indicated the zeitgeist wanted instead of just making a good fucking movie and trusting the audience to appreciate it.

Recipe for a clusterfuck. Innit.

It's why I watch classic movies mostly. 1930's to late 60's (can't stand most film noir, the Bowen Brothers, Dick Van Dyke, most Roddy McDowell stuff, and many spaghetti westerns/war movies) very few 70's flicks (that decade was a cringey soundtracked washout) and selectively from the 80's to current although since 2015ish, there's a shit tonne of movies being put out that are DOA or one has to hold their nose for portions of them because the woke is thick as cow crap in a holding pen.

Oh yeah, and many of the historical movies and series dealing with 99.99% Caucasian history but filled to the brim with minorities and with no plausible backstop.

Morgan Freeman played a Moor in Robin Hood. That's A-Okay with me. Good actor and in context, but Asians or Africans in Knights of the Roundtable or playing European royalty (unless a flippant irrelevant comedy)?

Yeah nah, go fuck yourselves writers, directors, producers, and actors.

I don't see a remake of Alex Hayley's Roots done by Eskimos, midgets, trannies, Asians, and white middle aged men in the horizon and I'd hate it. Not even historically adjacent. Not in a plausible alternate reality. It would just be a bunch of sadistic motherfuckers getting together to create a social cohesion destroying event for clickbait and they get to live in their pussified gated communities when shit kicks off.

They are failing gloriously at every juncture

Disney's stock sticker price peaked around 2020 right around the time Joe Biden was elected. At that time they decided to put all their eggs in the woke basket. Since then their stock value has dropped about 80 percent.

Update:  This piece lists the 10 opening weekends of Disney flicks.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2025/03/25/yes-snow-white-is-bombing-at-the-box-office/

It is definitely on track to be one of the all time bombs.  Hell, it might make 'Plan 9 from outer space' look like an Oscar caliber movie.

I have doubts it'll ever reach the cult classic status of Plan 9 though.
One thing's for sure... a disc of Snow White will never sit next to the DVD of Plan 9 on my shelf.

Yeah, you have a point.  Plan 9 has cult status because of it being Bela Lugosi's final movie.

The only thing that SW has going for it is that it might be Rachel Zegler's last major role.

I would also credit memorable characters like Tor Johnson as well as the blatant attempts to hide the fact that Bela croaked it before shooting was finished. Plan 9 is so horrible it came out the other side of horrible into "interesting" territory again.

You can't do that on purpose; it just happens.

I wouldn't count on that. Sorry.
She's still young enough that if nothing else she could simply wait out the shitstorm then try again.

I'm crossing my fingers that you're wrong about her.  She's a libtard that doesn't deserve any more fame.

If she was strictly a Disney product it might well be the end but she's got a diverse (pun intended) work history and the odds are someone somewhere will eventually include her in another project.

Likely for pushing an agenda.

Now *that* might be fun but I'd still probably rent it first then decide whether or not I wanted to buy it.
