Precisely. This is what I tell all my clients.

Over the long term markets always increase above the rate of inflation. If they didn't pension funds and sovereign wealth funds would not be invested in them.

Donald Trump raised eyebrows Friday by sharing a video on Truth Social that claims he purposefully crashed the stock market to "push cash into treasuries." Trump's timing was especially provocative because his rollout of tariffs the previous day resulted in a multi-trillion dollar market wipeout.

Trump shared a video by a supporter that was posted to X Thursday evening with the caption, "Trump is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers."

According to the TikTok video, Trump intentionally crashed the stock market in order to "push cash into treasuries, which forces the [Federal Reserve] to slash interest rates in May, and those lower rates give the Fed the ability to refinance trillions of debt very inexpensively. It also weakens the dollar and drops mortgage rates."

The narrator notes further that Trump's tariffs amount to a "genius play," forcing "companies to build here to dodge them. It also forces farmers to sell more of their products here in the U.S. to bring grocery prices way down. We've already seen this with eggs."

The video shared by the Republican president concludes by asserting he is effectively engaged in a wealth redistribution scheme: "Now remember, 94% of all stocks are owned only by 8% of Americans so Trump, he's taking from the rich short-term and handing it to the middle class through lower prices."

Unlike some of you, I do not have blind faith in what the US administration is doing.

Markets hate uncertainty. But, they always bounce back.

This is unprecedented since WW2. Both parties have pursued a policy of opening the domestic market to imports while allowing the same countries to protect their own industries from foreign competition.

I am telling my clients the same thing I did during the COVID martial law. Relax, it will pass.

Whatever one thinks of President Trump, he cares about the economy and the well being of Americans. More than most of his predecessors in fact. If he believes there is long term economic damage, he will change course. You can count on that.

Thing is, even with the best case scenarios, how long are his followers willing for Trump's Brave New World to wait avatar_DKG DKG?

It could take years or the next decade to restore and retool the US economy so that it becomes this manufacturing mecca again.

Lol.

I gotta lot more n that to invest avatar_Biggie Smiles Bigly!

Like Warren Buffet I was waiting for a Crash which appears to have arrived.

According to some experts the market is supposed to dive another 30% and possibly more in the coming months. Maybe it'll hit bottom late in 2025 or early 2026?

Perhaps it's time to start a new thread about how to invest during a recession/hard times eh?

Anyway Bigly you oughta look at Canadian mining oil/gas & banking stocks. Those usually do well after they've fallen a bit. Copper will be a good place to invest over the next decade.

And yet...Canada's economic policy may not end up aligning with the USA avatar_Brent Brent.

We may end up trading a lot more with Asia & Europe.

Which means...Canada could end up buying a lot less from the United States and more products from Europe and Asia.

I suspect Canada's trade is about to flow East and West, not North and South.

I wouldnt call it blind faith at all. I call it faith based upon previous performance AND Trump taking the necessary steps to bring mfg back to America like he's been saying he's wanted to do for decades. It also isnt blind faith because H. Ross Perot told us that job export policies would put us EXACTLY where we are today and he was right too! Trump has put the globalist plans in reverse.

Nothing blind about it whatsoever.

Ron Desantis might run.

It depends on the success of the Trump administration. If this gamble he's taking with tariffs pays off, Vance is the nominee. If it doesn't, it will be someone else outside the administration.

In the ten plus years I have had to endure Joe's trolling he has always used market corrections to call the stock market gambling even though it is ownership in a company. And as Prowler mentioned last night, he doesn't even know what a dividend is.

That is fine, he made his choices in life. He chose poverty in his final years. But,  he is not going to be mucking up the entire board with his attention seeking spam.

Or closing down everything that didn't have Walmart or Amazon branding for extended periods in the name of a clear and present threat of "the sniffles". And enriching the coffers of selected pharmaceutical companies offering untested experimental snake oil.

Seems to me their special friends made bank and then some off the Dem's efforts. Helicopter rides for all concerned, I say. If Trump's actions are the benchmark for improper behaviour, he can wait his turn... we have a bunch of libtards to throw in the woodchipper first.

Track the price of a pound of ground beef pre COVID at your average walmart.

3.19 a pound.

If you bought that same pound of meat in December of 2024 you paid 4.79 for the same product.

that's a nearly 40% price hike. And we the same scenario across the board

but you have idiot assholes like Joy Ried talking about "Republicans taught americans how to parrot the word inflation"

seriously? She's that fucking stupid? Like your average person doesn't instinctively know something is wrong when just last they were paying 200 bucks for a shopping cart of groceries and now they are paying 320.00 for the same exact thing?

Dems used COVID as a means to crush small business competition and to justify the price hikes which have never come down since despite the fact that the scary cold is over and fuel prices have come down dramatically.

Look at the quarterly earnings reports for Amazon and Walmart and you'll they've never, since their inceptions, experienced such a dramatic upswing in quarter over quarter profits

problem is you have dumb fucks on the left who cannot interpret the contents a simple court ruling trying to speak upon matters they know nothing about.

Because the people handing them their talking points wouldn't know their own arse from their elbow. Same goes for financial matters; you have total assclowns like Jim Cramer being consistently wrong about everything and never being held to account for the people whose financial futures he's utterly ruined through his shitty advice. Really, he ought to be imprisoned for fraud and CNBC stripped of their licence with their assets distributed to their victims, Alex Jones style.

To give you an idea, have a look at what he was saying right at the dip. Screaming "sell! sell! sell!" into the camera, meanwhile the stock is rallying and continuing its upward trajectory... almost as though investors were saying "well Jim reckons the sky is falling, it must be time to buy and buy big." And isn't it just so precious that CNBC and others have been trying to inject uncertainty into the markets since on the question if a 90 day tariff pause is going into effect or not. Almost like they want Trump to fail, eh?

Like that hasn't been a constant since 2015. Nah, that lamestream media dinosaur needs to be buried deep and mined for its oil at this point, it simply isn't fit for anything else that might benefit the community at large. And you can bury YouTurd along with it as well, it's effectively tied to the hip of those outlets at this point.

This is risky business what Trump is doing placing tariffs on China.

China could retaliate with moves like cutting rare earth exports or dumping U.S. treasuries – actions that could cripple U.S. defense systems, spike borrowing costs and trigger a global financial shock.

It will not be good for America either.

Getting tough on trade with Canada, Mexico or even the EU does not have the same risk as it does with the world's second largest economy.

Quote from: DKG on April 09, 2025, 09:38:48 AMIn the ten plus years I have had to endure Joe's trolling he has always used market corrections to call the stock market gambling even though it is ownership in a company. And as Prowler mentioned last night, he doesn't even know what a dividend is.

That is fine, he made his choices in life. He chose poverty in his final years. But,  he is not going to be mucking up the entire board with his attention seeking spam.

It's true.

I have nothing invested in the stock market at the moment avatar_DKG DKG. No skin in da game as they say. No siree Bob.

I jes did what my good friend Lokmar advised me ta do. I bought Gold, eh DKG? So now it's jes about doubled in price.

Other n that I'm in cash. And its sittin in tfsa & rrsp accounts. I was gonna buy some stocks, equities but I think the markets are gonna go down, DKG. Yanno what my good friend that Jewish Lady used ta say - "Buy Low, Sell High," DKG. I think avatar_Shen Li Shen remembers her. Can't think of her name atm.

Anyway I'm interested in diving inta investing but I wanna see the markets drop a bit more DKG. We could see an S&P at 4000 soon & $4000 Gold. Which would make it a 1:1 ratio. Maybe the Dow will drop below 30,000 eh?

Anyway I'm sorry many of ya saw yer retirement accounts shrink in the latest stock market rout. Actually I had this discussion with family members last year about the possibility of a crash. And they shrugged it off. Many of them invested in stuff like Apple Tesla & Nvidia. If I followed them zip would have suffered the same fate.

Take care DKG an' all the othas hea'.

I thank you fer advising me ta buy Gold last year Lokmar. That was good advice eh. Even tho ya might a lost in the latest stock market rout you generally got good instincts Lokmar.

Moving forward you know where I plan ta invest? Mining stocks. Gold. Copper  Silver. Oil n gas eh. Maybe food n utilities too. Cuz in post Crash recessionary times those kinda stocks have more potential for the upswing en Lokmar.

Anyway I think da markets are gonna go down plunge s'more, eh Lokmar? Possibly another 30-40%. We're def headed for a bear market later this year.

You're welcome and you're dead wrong. The markets wont go down anymore than they already have.

Maybe there'll even be some negotiations where the US & China meet somewhere halfway? Where both sides win something lose something? Somehow I don't think this will go on indefinitely.

I dunno, maybe you have a point about Trump to save American jobs. Or deport illegals. Not entirely sure really.

As for the stock market, I might try a few plays see how it goes. Just Wade inta the shallow end don't go to deep, eh? There might be some things to invest in. But I have a hunch the markets will go lower before they go up, whenever that may be. -20 or up to -30% by October? Then picking back up by early 2026? Any event looks like 2025 won't be a good year for the stock market.

Of course he's going to win. He will prolly get a majority too.

He'll be the last PM of Canada with it's current borders. Alberta and Saskatchewan will get a good offer from the US to join and the people there will vote with their own personal best interests and accept Trump's generous offer.

Of course I'll make money when Mark Carnage wins. As former Refotrm Party leader Preston Manning said, he is the greatest threat to national unity Canada has ever seen.

You watch, the US will make a sweet offer to Alberta and Saskatchewan. This will include full statehood, no income taxes for a few years, no transfer payments to loser provinces and most importantly a one for one CDN peso-dollar conversion. My investments in Canada, will automatically go up at least 30%.

Canada will be fukt without 2 of it's 3 economic engines. But, that's Canada's problem, not mine. :yeahhh:

Sadly yes. That's why they use celebrities so much.

In fact Hollywood has been ground zero for spreading the woke ideas and mentality we see today. It's insidious because if you start unpacking a lot of the ideas and biases and such you have, you'll probably find you got it from a show or from movies or music.

I remember back in the very 90s my grandma called this out. She was flipping through TV channels and started talking about how "they" want to ruin the nuclear family by attacking the integrity and authority of the father. She called out the attack on men and masculinity a long time ago.

She got that from all the shows. Married with Children. Simpsons. Where the father is presented as a selfish idiot that everyone humors, while the mother quietly runs it all in the back ground.

For years people believed that lemmings will gather in large groups and fling themselves off cliffs because Disney did a nature doc and they showed a group of lemmings running off a cliff. They didn't do it naturally...someone ran them off of it, they didn't show that part. They presented it as the lemmings just DO that.

And for decades people bought that with NO question. And there is a saying that people who just do things because the group does it are "like lemmings"....which is just pure irony.

Anyway my point is yes, celebs and media and programming all have a ridiculous and scary level of influence over how we all think. Have you seen "Swifties"? They'll actually pay thousands of dollars to see her perform. They'll definitely adopt her ideas.

Jo Jo, investing is long term as I explained to you after we had sex this morning.

You are too old to see a return. Stick to your chocolate coins Sweetie. I handle the money.

Wait until he finds out what is on the horizon for precious metals when the stockmarket hits these "new lows".

I did tell him so.

Not sure.

But anything is possible...fo'  sho

Investing is like gambling tbh

I'm invested mostly in cash at the moment. That's purdy safe ain't it?

Anyway nobody really knows what's comin. The prognosticators like Paul Tudor Jones claim theres a downturn or even a crash comin. Yet theyve also been wrong in the past too.

But it could also be a sideways market which is neither up nor down.

Hope for the best, Expect the Worst I suppose.

Anyways Lokmar I stopped buying Gold at around $2500/oz after it dipped right after the US election.

Since then it's gone way up. But that doesn't mean itll necessarily stay that high & wont come down again. So I haven't bought anymore.

Gold isn't/shouldn't be thought of as an investment to make huge bucks. It's just a hedge against Hard Times.

If someone wants to make big bucks offa gold then they should invest in mining stocks.

That's where I intend to park my money next. And if the stock market goes down further I'll jump in & invest eh Lokmar?

I just don't wanna dump a buncha money on the stock market& the next day it's worth 40% less.

Better ta buy the dip & at the bottom if possible eh Lokmar?

Anyway physical gold seems kinda high right now.

I wouldn't buy it at today's prices. Maybe yesterday's but not the current price...Lokmar!

I'd noticed that, he's far more adept at flapping his sweaty lips at us in between throating your empurpled spunk cannon. Look, I generally don't advocate for public displays of sex, but in yours and his case I'm inclined to make an exception; his half asphyxiated glorps and gurgles are preferable to the endless streams of demented bleatings he lavishes on us otherwise.
