I do also since I own so many, and take it seriously. I keep most of mine in a vault, and secure except two, and they get put away anytime young kids are around.
I also talk to the kids about gun safety, and tell them if some of their friends gets a real one out leave since they are not responsible little humans.

It's a fact support by the FBI crime reports that most of the gun violence in the US is perpetrated by gangs or it is gang/drug related in some way.

A few years ago hubby asked me if we should get a gun. I knew why he suggested it because all we ever see and hear are increasing terror acts, home invasions etc. When we first moved to this neighborhood a neighbor's kids were saying stuff like die die! I kill you! I kill you I kill you! Death to white people! I was like wth???? My daughter told the kid that she has native Indian in her genes so technically she's not white lol. I also think hubby thought about getting a gun for protection because the same kid was boasting that his dad has a gun. I opted for no gun but a bat at the door instead.

We have all that here Annie, and it's usually little punks that have moved here from the lower class neighborhoods, and projects that have been torn down.
Section 8 housing is taking over now, and trailer parks around us, so I feel safer with a gun.
Even if not here I would own one just in case someone was in danger when I was out.
If you all ever get a gun take a class, and practice safety letting any kids know you don't mess with a real gun unless supervised.
I understand people not wanting one, but better with something than be a victim.
