Title: New tariffs of 35 percent on Canada
Post by: DKG on July 11, 2025, 10:17:15 AM
Donald Trump has announced that he will raise import tariffs on most Canadian goods to 35 percent, even though Canada has agreed to rescind its planned digital services tax as the US demanded.

This comes as Trump sends "tariff letters" to a host of countries this week, notifying them of planned US trade levies to take effect on August 1 if trade deals are not struck before then.

The motive appears to be to put pressure on Carney to end his three months vacation and get back to the negotiating table.

This will be the only thread on this topic. If our resident attention starved troll posts another one it will be combined with this thread.

But, you are not the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and Prime Minister.

Carney told voters during the election that we were facing the greatest crisis in our history and that is why he had his elbows up. So, naturally after he won the election he recessed parliament until mid September so he could relax at a beach house and think about the existential crisis we face.

Our prime minister takes three month vacations so we don't have to.

But Canada isn't the only country Trump is taking aim at avatar_DKG DKG

Trump also wants to slap a 50% tariff on Brazil.

Similar tariffs on several Asian countries too.

Seems Canada is only one of many nations in this Trade War.

They are not alone in that regard.

If Canada becomes our glorious fifty first state they will not have to pay the tariffs.

Jo Jo honeybunch, the point was that countries that have secured a trade agreement with America will not face tariffs. If Canadians do not want to cause this kind of harm to their economy they should pressure Mr Carney to end the very long parliament summer recess and get back to work for Canadians.

You see Sweetie that is what real leaders do. Understand now, or should we have sex first. You always think with a clear mind after we have sex.

It is a good thing he has you to mooch off of. He could not have even earned minimum wage thirty years ago when he was still working age.

The PRE ELECTION "Canada is in a crisis" message has now become the reality of, wait for it - summer holidays for parliament, when they have worked 20 OF THE PAST 270 DAYS.
Folks you just can't make shit like this up.

Damn, this Liberal government is even lazier than when that muppet Justine was the head of the snake.
By comparison, Pierre said he wouldn't send his MPs on vacation until a crime bill was passed.
