Ten doctors wrote a letter urging Columbia University to fire Dr. Mehmet Oz saying he "endangers" the public
"Dr. Oz has repeatedly shown disdain for science and for evidence-based medicine, as well as baseless and relentless opposition to the genetic engineering of food crops," said the letter addressed to Columbia's Dean of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine, reports CBS. "Worst of all, he has manifested an egregious lack of integrity by promoting quack treatments and cures in the interest of personal financial gain."
Oz is a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon and vice-chair of the department of surgery at Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons, but he's also a television personality with The Dr. Oz Show. And according to medical experts, only 46% of the recommendations on his show were supported by evidence.

About time!
Not a surprise. He's first and foremost a lowlife celeb ... not a doctor
I'm surprised he wangled his way into any university position .. that element could use some investigation
He was a doctor first then turned lowlife celeb.
Oprah made him a star
Fraudulent asshole. They should pour that green slime juice he hawks down his throat until he drowns in it.

Relevance?
Just saying he was a doctor first.
I can't stand celebutards. They are the most overpaid, self-indulgent, greedy, narcissistic assholes on the continent. Having said that, gentically modified food is not always bad. It's not that black and white.
It's not the "overpaid, self-indulgent, greedy, narcissistic assholes " celebs themselves that irks / disappoints me so much .. it's knowing that there are low level humans (sub humans?) among us who worship them
When he promoted something so incredible for weight loss or whatever, it seemed too good to be true. I know I'm extremely naive (lol) but I even questioned his content on that show.

I have greater respect for some kid cleaning campsites in our national parks than some decadent hypocritical, multi-millionaire braindead celebutard who tells me to consume less while they are living larger than Saudi princes. However, I agree with you. Why on earth anyone with any brain activity would give two shits about their opinions are on anything.

I forgot you left coasters start the season earlier than the Northern prairies. It's about 16 degrees today, but windy as hell. Hopefully the nights will be warm enough in a few weeks that I can start planting. ac_dance
I'v got parsley, chives and lettuce sprouting up and next week I'll be planting lots of tomato plants. Mmmm tomatos.....

I should swing by the left coast at night and raid your garden. I will blame it on the rabbits. Better yet, easter bunny. He lives in your neck of the woods. ac_cooper
lol The lettuce and tomatoes never last long when they've grown. Hubby loves his lettuce and tomato sandwiches and our daughter likes to raid the garden all the time. I'm lucky if I can grab a few cherry tomatoes!
Whats a Doctor OZ ac_wot
Doctor Oz will soon be Doctor what WAZ lol

Calgary can get spring snowfalls but I feel I can plant my garden at the end of this month. Annie.

Sweet! Lots of yummy garden veggies! Maybe you'll be enjoying a nice pesticide free salad the same time as me! ac_smile
I rather trust Dr Ken Jeong's advice about American Heart Association Hands Only CPR.
Hands-Only™ CPR Can Save Lives.
Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location die because they don't receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. As a bystander, don't be afraid. Your actions can only help.
When calling 911, you will be asked for your location. Be specific, especially if you're calling from a mobile phone as that is not associated with a fixed address. Answering the dispatcher's questions will not delay the arrival of help.
How to Give Hands-Only CPR.
If you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse, call 9-1-1 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest to the beat of the classic disco song "Stayin' Alive." CPR can more than double a person's chances of survival, and "Stayin' Alive" has the right beat for Hands-Only CPR.
Here is the behind the scenes of the American Heart Association Hands Only CPR
When I last received my first aid training, we still "practiced" the mouth to mouth. That wasn't that long ago. Lately I've heard they are doing away with that in some form or another, preferring people to simply administer chest compressions instead...
Here are some testimonials from heart attack survivors from the Vinnie Jones British Heart Association Hands Only CPR ads from 3 years ago. Did anyone notice that ex-British footballer Vinnie Jones was in the Vancouver shot TV show Arrow just a few month ago?

Whatever you feel about Green_Hornet, he is not breaking rules in most of his posts.
It's funny how the attacks now are from doctors that have been paid by, or worked for Monsanto.
I'm not a fan of Dr. Oz, but anyone who publicly stands against Monsanto gets a campaign against them to be discredited.

"The doctors who wrote last week's letter focused mainly on Dr. Oz's comments against genetically modified foods, also known as GMOs. And some of those doctors have, in the past, worked for a nonprofit group that supports GMOs, and has received money from Monsanto, a huge corporation that makes GMOs. "

I look at GMO's on a case by case basis. Some are good, some not. Blind opposition to GMO's is based on ideology not science.
They all might not be bad, but the soy, corn, and wheat that are main staples in America, and other places it is bad for you.
The affect of genetically modified proteins, and dna that kill insects kill you in the long run also as well bees.
Soy, cottonseed, and corn syrup is in much of the foods now, especially soy, all modified.
