Title: Christmas Shopping
Post by: Anonymous on November 09, 2012, 01:31:06 AM
Have you started yet?

I am going to start this weekend for presents and new decorations.

My kids are giving this Santa subtle hints.

I'm excited about it too this time. For the first time I'm planning to put the tree up right after Thanksgiving. I always mean to but never have.

I have done most my shopping on Amazon, and have taken care of 9 of the 15 presents I need.

Still have to figure out what to get a few others, bot sure what.

I have a gift to get an older Japanese woman with diabetes, so no candy  :?:  :?:  :?:

I have been ordering more the last few years, it's a lot less stress, and safer in my opinion.

If we had a snow storm shopping online would be a perfect thing to keep from getting bored :)

OMIGOD?? I'd have heart failure if I did that. Do you decorate at home or do you go out for the holiday?

Christmas used to be a huge deal but it got to be too much. Nothing but shopping, decorating and running around all over the place. No decorating now and minimal presents. It's so much nicer to just relax and be with family.

Sorry, had to do some work!

I work in the office of a logistics company downtown. I'm 45 and I was born in Vancouver. I have a sister who lives in New Zealand working in the tv/film industry.

So many families are dysfunctional. I'm glad to say my wife and our few children all overseas are the only ones we focus on. We get joy out of phoning them all. No Christmas shopping much at our place. I take my wife out for dinner to The Pasta House usually. This year a 3D movie would be good as well at our new Landmark Cinema.

My/our kids are all grown up, scattered across western canada and Korea so it's just the dragon and me......we really don't do any decorating or much of anything on christmas these days...it's not a big deal in Korea so she never really got into it and i don't care anymore either...so to us it's just another day

when the kids were small xmas was a huge deal.....we always watched A Christmas Story (the one with ralphie in it) on christmas eve...i still love that movie...... opened presents early christmas morning

i liked the posts revealing some (however small) details about each other......

i am semi retired now and work a seasonal job at a golf course. I spent the last 25 years in the financial industry. In 1984 i helped start a securities firm (one of the founding partners) in Alberta that became very successful and was bought out by TD Bank in 1991....i then started a tech company in Burnaby, developing remote credit/debit card reader and POS technology and sold it to a US firm in 1997...at the same time we were developing real estate projects across western canada and after i sold the tech company i went into real estate full time ....eventually i wound up living in asia (2000-2008) and developing projects there......i loved every minute of my career, but the most fulfilling thing in my life is the fact that all (6) of my kids are very successful and turned out as normal as can be....

Son...........Calgary...manages a home depot store

Daughter...Edmonton...doctor

Daughter...Vancouver....web designer

Son.....world traveller(Vegas).....Master Brewer, Professional Poker Player

Son(step)......Seoul.....Restaurant owner

Daughter(step)...Seoul....Dental Technician

worst night of my life......after one particularly bad market correction i had to stand up in front of 300 investors (some very close friends as well) and tell them they had lost all their money.......thankfully it was early in my career so it shaped my dealings with people for the duration.......just never ever wanted to have to do that again

I know it is Blue, but I still love the season

My Christmas baking, decorating our house, carols, wrapping and exchanging presents, I love it all.

My children were at my parents house this afternoon, so my husband and I went to Walmart and bought a new tree. I bought some stocking stuffers for my children too.

Here's the tree we wanted to buy, but it was too tall for our livingroom.

Here's the one we bought.

My husband's all time favourite hockey player is Mario Lemieux.

I saw a beautiful portait of Bobby Orr in a sporting goods shop in Calgary..

It was actually several pictures in one including his career statistics.

Has anyone ever seen something like that of Mario Lemieux?

My husband would love that under the tree.

It should look like something like this.

I saw some bargains online, but I controlled myself.

Hope you got some deals if you went out in the crazy places.

No crowds for me, don't like it at all. I know some don't mind, and some may even like it, but I like quiet peaceful surroundings where I can look around without someone wanting to look at the same stuff, and without the dirty smell of most people around.

LOL yes, many people stink, and badly. Marry Christmas, you get soap    take a hint

Really cant beat ordering from Amazon, so peaceful.  :D

LoL Shen, my hubby is one of them who def will! He was bugging me for one a couple years ago but it has to be jus the right kind and something with either star wars or batman.

Haha, Odi, you and my hubby would get along great. He hates shopping too. One year, about 15 years ago, I hinted that I wanted a new watch. When it was Christmas morning I thought he actually remembered and bought me one. It was in the same shape of box. But when I opened it, it was a mouse holder :-(

Male business. You have to forgive him for that. :D We hate shops. We want to exit them as quickly as possible.

My sister advises me what to buy. It´s a secret.
