Enjoy your summer, bastards.
It's 25 here and raining with thunder and lightning. :/
Lovely, warm...
Right now, its 8.8 freezing, biting, icy degrees. I just went outside and my ears are burning red!!!
I think we're going to freeze over...we are doomed.
Time to burn the furniture just to survive.
See for yourself!

I'll send you a toque and a parker...er I mean parka.
WTF is a "C" ??
Is that some martian thingy?
It's for Celsius, a form of measurement used in the Metric system. The Metric system is the standard which is replacing the much less efficient and outdated Imperial system.
The Metric system is used by 96% of the world's population, including Australians and Canadians.
hahahahaha! You're sassy Ro!

You're obviously not a fellow cabbage patcher!
Snow expected today.
I'll just bet its Canadian snow.
Snow? It doesn't snow at +11C :P
It does in Australia!!!
Pish posh.
Pish posh THIS.

Might have to air lift people out if it keeps snowing
:laugh3:
It's a pleasant 9 degrees here and raining cats and dogs right now. We here in Victoria are accustomed to cool and wet. That's why we're issued with umbrellas when we're born.

How far is that from you and what's the elevation difference? Their temp was 0.3C which you can get snow. Not at 11C.
About 15km as the crow flies. We're a little lower, but still in the hills area, as you know!!!
So, roughly 10 miles away
Quote from: "SPECTRE"
It does in Australia!!!
11℃ equates to about 51.8 ℉. No where in the world do you get snow at that temperature. Even .3 ℃ is still slightly above freezing so the only thing I can chalk up your sensitivity to cold is.....old age. :laugh3:
Bullshit!!
Its global warming, I tell ya!!
It's called "Climate Change" now.
Yep. Cold and wet sums up Victorians pretty nicely really.
Or "your betters".
I tried to tell you...but would you LISTEN!!!

That's insane Spec! I love that your countrymen get to enjoy a bit of the white stuff. If it comes your way, don't drive in it!!!!!

Oh, goody for you...don't you be concerned about us dying of exposure or anything. We'll make it.
Apparently, scientists have collected some of the snow and examined it through a microscope.
It has tiny little labels on it. "Made In Canada - Dry Clean Only".
You South Australians have such thin skins. ac_biggrin
2C this morning!!!
2C!!!
Think of the children!!!
-2.8 last time I checked the thermometer just outside.
I'd still be in a t-shirt.

High humidity with loads of rain too?
Rain at -2.8C?
-2.8 in the mornings. Rain before and after it. The ground and foliage is saturated from many weeks of raining. It doesn't drop below freezing long enough to freeze the ground, so moisture is everywhere.
That always makes it feel colder than it is because the dampness permeates everything.
yup

How are homes heated where you live Spectre..
Back in Taiwan it is usually hot and humid, especially in the South where my family is from..
In winter on rare occasions when it is cool at night houses can feel cold because they are not insulated in the way Canadian houses are.
Homes here are heated in a variety of ways.
Most only have a single heater in one living room, but others in the more expensive homes have ducted air conditioning and heating.
Some have heated floors, but these are not popular because they are too slow to bring a room up from cold.
Of course, we have our blistering summers to deal with as well. Not so much humidity, as the heat is blown from the Devil's Cauldron by northerly winds that are very, very hot but very, very dry. It makes the heat for more bearable than the tropics.
However, it means we have to contend with 2 seasons that are quite cold, then quite hot...
Where are you located, mate?
Mate? I thought you said earlier that you left Oz as a child?
I'm still Oz in my heart. Some of my parent's expressions stuck with me.
Where are you located, sheila?
Sheila isn't really used anymore. The tourists got a hold of it and turned it into a cringe word.
Victoria.
Aw. I was born in same general area, Wollongong
Yes, sheila is and should be considered derogatory. A stupid male thingy. I was just letting you know that I grew up with Aussie parents who of course informed me of many Aussie things

About a 7 hour drive from here.
It's not that it was ever too blokey. After hearing Ozphile foreigners using it in their everyday convos, most of us dropped it like crikey, Ugg boots, Fosters, and anything to do with prawns on the barbecue. I blame the Americans.

Do you mean a plug in electric heater SPECTRE?
That is common in Taiwan and parts of China.
Yes, some use them, although they are horribly expensive to operate. Most heaters are gas, some oil.
But modern homes are using ducted air conditioning these days as the units are far more economical to operate than they used to be, and you need aircon for the summer anyway.
Awwww muffin. Should I crochet you a scarf and matching toque?
You "muffin"'d me.
You know what that means.
You're going to bake me a dozen?

Portable oil heaters?
I never saw one before I think..
Our house is heated with natural gas which is piped in.
Yes, many of our houses have that. Our old house did.
Its good heating.

They were huddled up in parkas and beanies...moreso than some locals. Seemed cold to THEM.

It is very cold at our Canadian Football League games too SPECTRE..
Most cities do not have a domed stadium either.
Exactly!!! My point is that its so cold here, even Canadians are shivering and huddling.
They were from Toronto. They don't count!
Last I checked, Toronto was still in Canada.
They still don't count.
I see. So where do the borders begin and end in Canadaland?
I mean in terms of being able to handle the cold they don't count.
