Okay RW, let's go. Lol
Whoohooo!
1. Is it true about the drugs? That strippers are drug addicts and broken women from nasty back grounds?
2. What happens to men who touch you?
3. Did you ever sleep with any of the club patrons?
4. Does the club owner take a cut of your wage or tips?
5. Did you have a special talent or theme?
6. Who paid for your clothing and make up?
7. If someone touched you, what would happen?
8. How did you feel about women looking at you?
9. Was the money "good"?
10. What got you into stripping in the first place?
That should do it for now :)
Same questions for me. Oh, one more.
11. Did your family know you were a stripper and what did they think about that?
12. Do you feel differently about yourself after having that job?
13. Do you feel the need to keep that time in your life private/secret/down-low?
14. Would you want your daughter or loved females in your family to do sex work?
15. Did it affect your perception of society?
16. Do you feel more or less safe/able to protect yourself after doing that work?
17. Did it affect your dance skills or athleticism?
18. Did it affect your perception of men, generally?
19. Did it affect your perception of the men that you have relationships with (currently or during that period of work)?
20. Did it affect your perception of music?
21. Did it motivate you financially?
Wow! Goodmorning ladies! Haha. Okay I'm gonna answer these, but bare with me, I post from my phone and some of these questions are heavy and I can't paragraph break. Lol
22. Does someone clean the dancing pole between sets so STD's don't get spread?

1. On a general level, yes. Myself and every woman I worked with came from some level of broken home. Many of us had been sexually abused. I came from a home where my mother was/is an alcoholic and she was in the sex industry. So even a big part of my hated her, I ended up mirroring her, albeit unconsciously. I didn't really developed a full blown addiction to drugs during this time, but I certainly struggled with alcohol. Many of the girls were also alcoholics, and used uppers, and the occasional heroin addict. Coke is a big thing...or was...as new Orleans never sleeps. Many of these women are mothers. Many also have other jobs, ranging from real estate to business owners.
2. That has always, for the most part, been at the dancers discretion. We can have anyone kicked out at anytime. We can let some get away with everything. If women are caught doing sex acts, they are immediately fired, escorted out and "black listed", possibly having charges pressed. I worked for penthouse...so it really has a lot to do with how "high end" the club is and how sober management is lol.
3. No. I never did. Men always offered money for sex, would always try to date you, would offer to "save you". It crossed my mind with certain patrons, I'm human and some were attractive, you'd have chemistry with some. One time I fell in love in vip for about 3 hours...lol...but I never slept with anyone from the club.
4. Yes. There is "house rent", it ranged from 25, to 60 dollars. If you were pulling in money for the club, you were a "money maker" your house rent would be low or nothing. You make money for the club by selling the vip rooms and selling the bottles of champaign. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get customers to drop literally thousands into these places.
5. Of course! Everyone called me "rocker raygan" because I stuck to rock, had my dark gothy look, and I can make pretty much anything sound like a good idea.
6. I did. And if you are an entertainer it's all a tax write off. We had a very diva-ish gay guy who would come in and do make up. We also had a house mom. We had a massage therapist a couple times a month.
7. Yanno, this depends on the touch. I wasn't one of those Nazi bitches who hated the customers. If someone was intentionally and aggressively groping me, I would handle it by either ending the dance, or tying him down with a belt. If someone was simply not sure what to do with their hands during a dance they would often glue them to their sides or touch the side of my body. That didn't bother me.
8. Women looking never bothered me. If you are naked on a stage a lot of people will be looking at you. Sometimes focusing on the other women made it more fun. Are you taking about female customers or other strippers? Because they are different. Women customers were sometimes the grabbiest. Other strippers are more into showing off for eachother.
9. I was averaging 500 at least a night and often broke a grand. You tell me ;)

11. Did your family know you were a stripper and what did they think about that?
Yes. My grandmother, who passed away from colon cancer, clearly wasn't around for this. She would have been devastated. My mother knew. She had done the same in her life, as did my cousin in baltimore (male stripper/model). I don't have much for family. They were supportive of me. My mom has seen me on stage. My mom and step father actually have pictures of me (not nude) from some photoshoots I've done.

Females are always the most inquisitive. I've had the deepest questions asked of me by females...often accompanied by confessions and sexual fantasies. Asal just asked a load of deep questions....I'll have to wait until the kids are at day camp to answer her lol

I don't mind if you give a quick answer. You answered a lot of them already (your family background). You're in New Orleans???
Very informative, Dove. I applaud your courage for being so open about it. To be honest I already knew the answers to many of the questions because I have a niece who was a stripper for a few years before she ODed, woke up in a hospital ER. She then smartly got the fuck out of that lifestyle and profession.
I guess I don't need to tell you that you are fortunate that you got away from that world reasonably intact. Too many of the girls don't. Good for you. :smiley_thumbs_up_yellow_ani:

12. Do you feel differently about yourself after having that job? Of course. But not in a negative way, anymore. It's an intense experience and those experiences change you. It certainly opened my perspectives.
13. Do you feel the need to keep that time in your life private/secret/down-low? I used to, but not so much anymore. I don't put it on blast, but I'm also a recovering heroin addict, so I mentor others and talk about my journey and recovery.
14. Would you want your daughter or loved females in your family to do sex work? Absolutely not. It warps your view of yourself, money, men and intimacy.
15. Did it affect your perception of society? Yes. It was an eye opener. My time in NO, was right after Katrina, so I saw a lot of human nature I was not really wise to.
16. Do you feel more or less safe/able to protect yourself after doing that work? Oh I've never felt unsafe. And I'm confident in my ability to protect myself.
17. Did it affect your dance skills or athleticism? I was all lean and had excellent muscle tone. So yes, it's a great work out. It's pretty acrobatic lol. I would always have bruises on my calves and my side. Lol
18. Did it affect your perception of men, generally? Yes.
19. Did it affect your perception of the men that you have relationships with (currently or during that period of work)? Yes. I've worked on this.
20. Did it affect your perception of music? Mmmm...not really. I love music. Always have. I'm not too sure what you mean by this?
21. Did it motivate you financially? I made a lot of money that I have nothing to show for. I think that easy money ruins the way we value our selves and accomplishments. I've never been materialistic. This was just a means to an end, as I was a single mother fleeing an abusive marriage.

I know. To be honest, I'm convinced I got out of all of it 'in tact' because God uses me to help others like me do the same. And that's what I do. Me and few other women in the mission have talked about a 'strip club' ministry. I'm not above going right into the dressing rooms and bringing girls out.....but those bouncers lol.

I'm glad you're out of it. I'm glad it made you athletic. I'm glad you are realistic about human nature (#15). The music question - I was wondering if you sometimes think of what you could do with a song expressively related to when you used to dance. That was one of the angles I was thinking of. And also, maybe, if you felt betrayed by music that you had liked that was now associated with those times (reading into my own experiences with music).

I don't see what's wrong with girls stripping. Works for me.
If gay people can have their pride parades with old men dangling their private parts in front of young children, then strippers should be able to do what they like in the privacy of a club or party.
The politically correct shoot themselves in the foot by on one hand condeming strip clubs and pornography and at the same time conding gay pride and homosexuality.
If they're gonna condone one perversion they should also embrace the other.
Ideally, the homos and the politically correct ought abe forced to go to a strip at least once a week so they can get a taste of what they impose on the rest of the population who don't wanna see their chit on public display.

nah. My taste in music had changed over time but I don't feel betrayed by music I associate with the clubs. However, songs I used to listen to a lot during my active heroin addiction have been known to trigger me, not as much....but there are certain songs I couldn't listen to for a while and still get kinda turned off by. I should start a music threa .
There is a Music thread Dove, its pinned at the top and called the Pulse.

Who's saying strip joints should be shuttered? What consenting adults do in a private club is nobody's business. If they were shaking their bare money makers in the faces of children like the homo parades, I would have a problem with that.
However, aren't a lot of strippers controlled by outlaw motorcycle gangs, particularly the HA? That's what I read anyway.

I mean it's the epitome of stereotype and most people assume all strippers are prostitutes.
Well, I certainly wasn't!!!
ac_blush
It's a fair assumption lol
Hey!!! There are male strippers.
Setting aside the salacious element, does that imply you're something of a dancer, or did you just perform lurid hip thrusts to the drunken, salivating mass of moronic men.

I'm not entirely surprised. It's probably not that common to use it. If you don't know what it's like; it's similar to "climber's chalk" but it doesn't leave the white residue that climber's chalk does.
It's main purpose is to keep your hands from sweating. A lot of athletes use it because it not only keeps your hands dry but improves the tactile feel in your fingers and palm sort of the way a rosin bag does for baseball and softball pitchers.

Not a chance. I'd simply prefer to leave all that in the past. I wouldn't want to see it.
Occasionally I go out to see the strippers. Sometimes alone, other times with friends.
Admittedly I'm drawn to the female form, their pretty faces and feminine wiles.
Actually I love beautiful women & I appreciate the ambiance they bring into what is often an ugly world.
Perhaps some see that as wrong, as it is a guilty pleasure & an illusion. But in a world where men's identities are being compromised by the influences of political correctness, it offers a counterbalance to its excesses.
I've noticed there are now a reasonable number of young women in the audience these days, as if this is the 'in thing' for them to do as well.

Without "Obvious Joey" here to point out the obvious, us dullards would never know what is obvious

You have to be 18 to get into bars or serve alcohol in my province. Where you live, I assume you have to be 21?

It's 18 here. But really Shen, that doesn't matter as much as people think it does. I was getting into bars at 16, and strippers don't need to take the alcohol classes. They don't even get on payrolls. It's really nothing to see strippers who are 17.

....that's bold to reveal yourself in an anonymous forum.
Anyways, you have nice, proportionate, relatively symmetrical, rounded features.
You look like a French Canadian. Are you of French descent?
Somehow methinks if a facial analysis were done, they'd conform to the Golden Mean, like in this example:

Oddly, your face reminds me of this Canadian Ice Hockey player named Dave Keon:

He was originally from Quebec.
That's why I thought you might be of french descent.

I'm just telling what literally everyone who meets me thinks.
