It seems that a new social blight is upon us (not just in the US, to be fair and honest)...
Losers wearing cam suits in public and claiming to be soldiers to bask in the glory of the real thing.
How sad is that?
Psychopaths.
Apparently there are a lot of them doing this...
How do they get the uniforms and badges?

There was someone arrested for that in Ottawa.

Like everything else,......from the internet.
Wouldn't it make sense to not allow the sale of military uniforms?

...never was interested in the military all that much, so I never had the desire to fake somebody else's glory.
But I guess a lotta people wanna feel that they are or were part of something so they fake it up, like actors pretending to be American Civil War soldiers.
Anyways, here's a story from Canada about the same sorta thang:

...but the guy was never convicted cuz he turned himself in, admitted he was lying, so they didn't press charges.
...perhaps the guy was someone influential in the community with a lotta money?

Military uniform makers aren't precluded from selling their GP clothing to the great unwashed. Especially if it becomes surplus. Some kit is obviously not permitted for public sale, but cam suits, hats, badges and boots are all available. You can dress yourself up pretty convincingly if you want to imitate real servicemen.
And...its no crime unless you obtain some benefit or advantage as a result of the deceit...at least here, anyway.
Frankly, I believe people who attempt to extract credit for being in the military when they're not should be compelled to do 2 yrs military service.
Then they can wear the gear with pride!!!

Aw, man, don't take away my favorite store. My boys and I have enjoyed going into the Ranger Surplus in Bethesda.
Lots of neat stuff
I just can't get enough
That's where I get the mace
That I'll spray in your face
If you ever cross me
Sucka

Military fatigues and boots have been available for sale in stores like Army and Navy since long before Al Gore invented the interwebs. Surplus military clothing has been popular for at least half a century, not just in the US but Europe as well.
The net has made things like fake citations and ribbons, insignias and specialized unit colors available to the public. They are all fake but to the untrained eye, you are never going to be able to tell the difference.
People who impersonate service personnel are the same kind of weasels that go around impersonating police officers so that they can harass people. It makes them feel like they have power. The inspector's joke about making them serve is tempting but due to their obvious psychosis, it would probably be a bad idea. :laugh3:

Is it legal to sell mace in your state Azhya?
I get how people like sturdier surplus gear and would rather buy it than some of the plastic alternatives. I don't get how anyone would want to be seen as a current or past soldier in a standing army.
Ah I see.
I like the idea of publicly shaming them.

It has been illegal here for some time, Fash. Even though it is not mace, I am a creature of habit and still call it mace even though it is truly just pepper spray.

Oh, they wouldn't be in front line corps.
Something like latrines, (shitting for the use of), cleaning detail. Or heavy vehicle washing and polishing.
Perhaps live round test targets.
Don't they have decoy platoons in the US Army. Shit, there's LOTS of duties shitweasels like this could undertake to earn their stripes.
