Stop it.
My attempt to maintain peace did not work but thank you for the painful reminder.

In some ways, Canada ain't much better, 'Real.
If we haven't completely sold out to the American (corporations), our governments appears to be the process doing so.
And most household in Canada lap up all the junk which is fit for the Tube with content which is made in america and paid for by American corporations.
Canada media is doing a an equally great job in that regard by itself I'll have you know
You underestimate what our country can do on its own
Example?

I feel public opinion and culture is guided by media, so it's more of a mainstream brainwashing. I'm more afraid for humanity than myself.....so that's what I mean with yes, and no.

The West in general is lining up their dominoes and waiting for an opportunity to fall down. The people don't seem to mind continually asking what more their governments can do for them instead of ensuring that their governments are limited in doing any more harm. That goes for matters of economic policy which governments should have virtually nothing to do with and wealth redistribution which is simply State theft and extremely criminal.

Canada has unionized teachers and we don't seem to have the same issues with education. I'd be looking at religious and socio-economic influences before unionized teachers.

I don't know anything about american education. I just know the standards are low from people going to school there and comparing the two (2) systems (canadian vs american). A friend was shocked that all she had to write were two (2) page essays at Berkley, CA. Another person told me they had a choice of graduating in "A" or "B." One of which allowed for bowling classes, the other was snowboarding.

There are different levels and they're mostly decided by tuition, affluence, and geography whether in public or private high schools, or universities. I don't doubt that the same applies to Canadian institutions.

Graduating in "A" or "B" doesn't exist in Canada. I'll put $5 Cdn on it.
Berkley is a top notch school - their standard was to have 2 page, double spaced essays. Pretty low standards.
This is not an American phenomenon.
It is a global issue. The media manages and controls the one resource that is vital to a free, safe and just society; information.

Berkley is a socialist PC bastion of idiocy and it's been that way since the 1960s. It doesn't surprse me that their standards are rather low. After all it would be discriminatory to make entrance exams too difficult. Whatever will the persons of educational disadvantage do it they don't accommodate them?

I went to a private Christian school until 8th grade, then public. Christianity isn't exactly welcome in public school. Tolerated, but certainly not influential.
Nor should it be.
Any more than any other human belief system; witchcraft, paganism, buddhism, islam, scientology, UFO societies, sorcery, and flat earthers.
And the education system and the kids are doing so much better with out any of it. Intolerance, school shootings, drugs and sex, and teen pregnancy are the way to go in American indoctrination centers.

Pretty sure most americans are not intolerant, shooting up their schools, doing drugs and pregnant as teens. All of those things are still likely discouraged in school - without having first hand knowledge of it myself except for meeting americans on occasion and noting that they do not appear to be drug using pregnant school shooters on the most part (excepting my Spokane relatives).
Back to the media: it's not helpful when they give attention to the mass shooters.

Not many. I know you can't separate Christianity from politics or the "Christian" religion, but politics and structured religion have done a lot of damage. Real spirituality has nothing to do with either. Most typically find that in prison and rehab.
Or on death row, oddly.
You actually CAN separate religion and politics, by NOT asking politicians their religious beliefs. Unfortunately, fraudulent religion has a vice like grip on the US, and it won't let go.
America has replaced Italy as religions legionnaires on a global scale. I'm sure you saw the debate yesterday, in which religion WAS put forward as a criteria for the right wing potential candidate.
