Whilst Canadians and Americans think its cool to shoot up its fauna, we in Australia are far more caring.

We're even taking in lots of rhinos from Africa to ensure survival of the species.
That's how kind we are. Except for dumbshits like Nurse Numbskull.

A mine that would create jobs for many will not happen because of a lizard and a snake?
ac_wot
Yes.
Life is more important than coal.
These animals are almost extinct. If corporations want to make billions from mining, they need to come up with a budget and strategy to protect local flora and fauna.
Australia hosts THOUSANDS of animal species that live nowhere else. It is a grave and important responsibility to protect these animals, or they will be lost to humanity forever.

A coal mine cannot exist alongside the Yabba skink and ornamental snake?
I find that difficult to believe.
So do I.
That's why these mining companies, when applying for a mining licence, must show they have an environmental impact study, and that they will prevent or repair any environmental impact.
This includes any disruption to the native fauna.
This company failed to do so, and the relevant Government minister failed to ensure they did.
Put simply, they failed in their due diligence before asking to dig up the countryside.

We have a similar process here for mines and other large industrial proposals..
I just can't believe the mine cannot be built while preserving fauna habitat.
I'm sure it can.
They just tried to duck their environmental responsibility.

I guess they didn't think Yabba skinks and ornamental snakes were important.
No, they thought nobody else did. Mining companies hate environmental responsibility. It reduces profit.
They simply failed to undertake an impact statement.

Bullshit, I work for a resource company and I can tell you nothing could be further from the fucking truth.
What? That you work?
Makes sense.

I guess if you are a non-indigenous species of animal, life is good in Oz but it sure sucks to be a native. :oeudC: :laugh3:
