This is some of my favorite stuff I listen to when I want to be alone to clear my head.
I've been brooding with this band's music lately.
Danny Boy is a song I hear at every funeral on my dads side of the family. His family is a stereotypical Irish tribe and most of the men are either cops, fireman or priests and it's as dysfunctional as it gets. When they put one in the ground, they always get some Irish tenor to sing this either at the grave site or at the repast and I ball my eyes out every time without fail.
This rendition is by the late Eva Cassidy and although it is traditionally sung by a man, I think this version is beautiful. :4jn79i:
I once brooded to this in my car from GA to the top of TN.

I forgot about this one!
*big sigh*
I was pretty stuck on this when I was using heavy.
"forbidden fruit, hidden eyes, courtisies that I depise in me" :p
It's me and hubby's first anniversary in a few days. He, of course, still thrills me out of my skin.
I've loved this since middle school.

Roy Buchanan "The Best Unknown Guitarist in the World". Guitar Player Magazine names him as having one of the"50 greatest tones of all time". Give me a bottle of Gentleman Jack, a bucket of ice and a serious rocks glass and I can sit and listen to this guy all night.
"I'm feelin tragic like I'm Marlin Brando, when I look at my China girl"
This was exactly my 20s. Lol.

You "brood" to "China Girl"?

I'm a recovering heroin addict. We tend to brood to songs about heroin.
The amazing I, Monster...

I used to sing my kids to sleep to this song when they were little.

So you are fluent in Italian?
I wish I paid more attention when my mom tried to get us to speak Italian when we were small. Unfortunately I was too scatterbrained. My brother and sister picked it up well enough. I can understand bits and pieces but I can't carry a conversation.
My dad tried to teach us Gaelic when we were small as well. I'm actually better at that, which is kind of weird. But then again I've never been what one would consider normal.
No, I'm not fluent. I just can sing that song because I have heard it so many times.
My grandfather was fluent and he didn't have any trace of an Italian accent when he spoke English. He wanted us to be Canadian so he didn't teach us.

My mom is fluent in Italian, my older brother can speak it well enough, my younger sister is fluent in Italian. She is also fluent in Spanish and French as well. Bitch.
My dad can speak Gaelic reasonably well. His mom was fluent in it and would refuse to speak English at times just to be an obstinate evil bitch. I understand Gaelic enough to get the gist of a conversation but I don't speak it well. Most days I can barely get by with English.
I find that with second languages, if you don't use it you lose it.
I used to know French better but I don't use it so...
I wish I had learned Italian.
One of my faves.
Since it's no one's concern, no one should care.
