Title: Your Experiences With Racism
Post by: Anonymous on December 10, 2012, 08:58:01 PM
I try to avoid sensitive topics, but instigator's post hit a nerve.

Have you been on the receiving end of racism?

How did you handle the situation?

For me, it has been only verbal slurs and angry stares.

I simply ignore them, until I get home and then cry my eyes out.

Abusing someone because of their race, religion or culture is abhorrent.

White people rarely get racist insults, and then its usually from dispossessed blacks.

But then again, its only white nations that other races seem to want to live in - and somebody forgot to ask the white people if that was OK.

Abuse and discrimination are illegal and abhorrent.

I disagree about whites not getting insults based on their race... it does happen, but not always in English and not always to their faces.

I lived in China for a long time and though it's not near as bad as from what I hear  Korea is like.... I don't hear filipinos complaining about racism. They are friendly ,like us and want to be Canadians. I don't get the malice from them as I do freaks like Constipator ,Zetsu and other sly sneaky backstab monkeys

Gary, that's very nice nor very fair..

Zetsu disagrees with you, he is not backstabbing anyone.

I think Constipator is an insult for instigator and again he just disagrees with you..

I disagree with some of what instigator wrote too, but we can still respect each others differences.

They call me "Hey, Yellow Man."  "Hey, Noodle Man"  "Get Lost, Zipperhead"  "Out of the way, Slant Eye!"  Only when I assume Kung Fu stance, with fists of fury raging and thirsty for justice, does round eye become worried, perhaps not knowing if I have the fireball lightning karate kick ability.

They do, do "they"?

I know you are just trying to add a little humour to a serious topic and that's ok.

In my time living in Korea and traveling all over Asia (and wearing a suit) i have been refused entry, service or thrown out of the following establishments (because i was a "white devil")(their words not mine):on many many occasions..

Hotels

Restaurants

Bars

Nightclubs

Swimming Pools

Saunas

Casino

Health Clubs

Hooker Joints

Hookers (mostly japan)

Taxis to numerous to mention

i was refused being allowed to give blood to help an employee who was dying of cancer....i pushed the hospital "forcefully" as to why not...when they ran our of silly reasons (residency, passport, visa etc.) the head nurse finally admitted it was because "i would taint the pure blood of the Korean race"...what a crock of bullshit....from a trained professional.......and this was in 2005

i'm sure i missed some......the thing is, i knew it was because they mostly thought i was an "american" ...doesn't excuse it but i understood why and shrugged it off...after all almost everyone, including me, hates what the Americans do around the world.........the only thing that bothers me is that in all that time and dozens of instances on only one occasion did one of my traveling companions raise objections and try and change their minds...and he was a Korean from Edmonton who had lived in Canada for 30 years.....that was puzzling, it seemed like it is just taken for granted that it was ok.....and truthfully, being a libertarian i firmly believe a  business owner has the right to serve (or not) who they want and for whatever reason....case closed.

i am not bitter in the least and hold no animosity to anyone over there...i merely write this as a kind of shot at the people who think white Canadians are racist monsters......i lol at that....there are certainly a few ignorant rednecks but overt racism is extremely rare here. In fact Canada, in general, bends over backwards to protect and promote minorities and newcomers....thus endeth the lesson.

Amen brothers and sisters.

Sorry for what you went through Fashionista, or anyone else, people can be so cruel, and ignorant.

I had a year of racial slurs, and threats in school toward me, and other kids that was bussed to an all black school.

First day I got there not even off the buss we was getting rocks thrown at the buses, and threats.

One kid on another buss was hurt, and took to a hospital.

I got in a few fights there, but learned to be tough showing I wasn't a pushover.

I hold no hate towards black people, but do feel sorry for many that couldn't get over someones color, pretty sad person.

I have seen it from both sides, in my high school you had racial fights on occasion between blacks, and whites.

Most the students would go to class while the rest got into it.

We had one person stabbed, and two tossed out windows that I remember. The tension was made worse with KKK organizers out on the street corner.

I'm sure glad that don't happen much anymore here, I hated seeing stuff like that happening.

I got caught up in one of the fights, and ended up just hitting anyone that came close to me just to get to class. Useless stupid violence.

I had a Korean American friend, and Philippine American friend growing up, really good guys, but they got teased a lot. :(

Not much with me around, but they did, and I saw it a few times from a distance, and told about it.

The Korean one didn't take it well, it bothered me a lot knowing it. The Philippine one took it made fun back, and usually laugher it off.

I did get in a few fights over it, hate that stuff, and still do.

Yeah sounds like a movie, but normal stuff here years ago, and my school was a more peaceful one.

I think it was one a few kids got stabbed now, and then on a regular bases.

I went to school here in Louisville Kentucky, it's a bit better now since my school years.

Still there, but more in hiding is my guess.

I was friends with a purple dragons son till I found out who they was, and how he was growing up, that's a high up Klan member.

Hey something funny, one of the black students my Junior year, a big guy, and a cut up he went out grabbed some of the Klan literature off their table.

Well he walked out in the intersection, and started passing it out with them    they looked so scared him being out there, and everyone in the school was laughing.

He was big as a small car so they couldn't say anything.

We had gangs and drugs of course, but thankfully no KKK types.

We had a few gang members, and plenty of drugs going around, but mostly just the few that made things rough.

I tried my best to keep nice, and quiet, but got in a lot of fights taking up for others that was picked on.

Just a slap on the back of a bullies head was usually enough to get them to stop.

My younger brother got picked on a little bit when he was younger and then picked on others a little bit in senior grades.

Title: Re: Your Experiences With Racism

From my prospective it comes from no matter what color, or place you are from.

If not racism people are eating on each other for other regressive reasons.

It's pretty pathetic for no reason at all like for color, or place of origin.

Generalizing for some reasons also is pretty pathetic.

Racism shmacism. Who the fuck cares if someone likes you or not based on your race? Being denied equal treatment is quite another matter though.
