Indonesia has sent 500 fighters to Syria. They even have their own brigade there for ISIS. The chickens have come home to roost.

There were three blasts near the Turkish and Pakistan embassies. The country has been on high alert after authorities said they had foiled a plot by militants to attack government officials, foreigners and others. About 150,000 police officers and soldiers were deployed during New Year's Eve to guard churches, airports and other public places.

I'm just reading in the news that 3 men walked around Pacific Centre Mall in downtown Vancouver taking hundreds of video and pictures of entrances and exits:

Vancouver Police searching for 3 Middle Eastern men videotaping Pacific Centre Mall

Vancouver Police are seeking the public's help in identifying three Middle Eastern men who were seen taking 360 video within Pacific Centre Mall in downtown Vancouver on Tuesday, January 12 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The men were seen taking video of exits and entrances and specifically capturing shots of the Dunsmuir Street exit. Mall security tried locating them but were unsuccessful.

Police initially believed four men were taking video, but the number of persons of interest has since been reduced to three men.

I haven't found any info on any other news sites so I have no idea how legit this is.

It might be a true story, but if no other news source posts it, I would have my doubts. I can tell you that if I see Arab guys taking 360 video in a crowded area I am taking their pictures and sending it to the RCMP.

Apparently that's what happened. Security saw it and gave pics and video to police.  Vancity picked up the story and posted it short while ago.

Here We Go Again

Hostages are being held amid an attack at a hotel in the Burkina Faso capital of Ouagadougou, a local journalist has told Al Jazeera, citing the police. (//http)

Olympia de Maismont, a local reporter, said police confirmed that there were hostages in the Splendid Hotel, and she said the military had surrounded the building following reports of gunfire and explosions.

The attack, she added, happened around 8pm local time on Friday.

Reuters reported that gunmen stormed the hotel, burning cars outside and firing in the air to drive back crowds before security forces arrived, prompting an intense exchange of gunfire.

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb claimed responsibility for the attack, SITE Intelligence Group, a monitoring organisation, reported.

QuoteMen Filming At Vancouver's Pacific Centre Mall Were Tourists Getting Vision Treatment

One of three men who initially raised suspicion by taking photos and videos inside a downtown Vancouver shopping mall has come forward.

Mohammed Sharaz told CBC News he was travelling to Vancouver from Manchester with his son and a friend, who are in town getting treatment for vision impairment. Police have since said their actions were "completely innocent."

"My friend, when he looks at anything head on, he doesn't see like me and you do," Sharaz said.

"So he'll take a picture or a movie and then later on when he gets back he zooms into it and he watches stuff. He takes pictures of anything and everything."

Sharaz said he bought his son a phone to take pictures to show his friends and family back home.

According to Global News, both Sharaz's friend and son are getting treated at the Wellspring Clinic for Holistic Medicine.

Dr. Weidong Yu confirmed the two men are his patients.

"Because they don't see well, they take more photos," he told Global News.

He described the men as "very nice folks" to the Vancouver Sun.

Sharaz said when he saw the reports, he phoned police right away.

He said he had no issues with how police handled the situation, but was more afraid of being targeted by vigilantes.

"Obviously [the police] didn't feel threatened by us or anything," he said. "I haven't heard from them since."

"My son's got a disability. My friend's got a disability. We're the last people who are going to be hired by some terrorist organization to take video of stuff," he said.

Sharaz said the three of them have stayed inside since they found out photos of them were circulating on social media.

On Friday, Vancouver Police Chief Adam Palmer said information about the suspicious incident, included in a police internal memo, was never meant to be released to the media.

"We weren't planning on going public with it at this point because we didn't feel it was something serious enough to go public with at this point," he said.

Later that day, police released a statement saying the men had co-operated with investigators.

"The investigation has conclusively determined that their actions were completely innocent," the statement read.

I wonder if all these "claims" will be followed up. Sounds like a bunch of bs back peddling, feel sorry for us crap. What did they expect? Take hundreds of pictures of entries and exits while walking single file and not for it to look suspicious in this day when attacks are happening world wide? Where's their apology for the wasted money for police work and for alarming the public?

We must racially profile for our own safety. Maybe a lot more Parisians would be alive today if someone had taken video of Arabs taking pictures.

I see ads on and around public transit that say if you see or hear something, say something. That's exactly what happened. If it's suspicious, say something. If it turns out it was not a threat in any way then it's better to be careful than sorry. I'd say this was a successful test.
