Personally I thought it was an incredibly stupid idea to leave Saddam Hussein in power after the first Gulf war. Sadly no one consulted with me about it and the result was exactly as I predicted.Quote from: "easter bunny"

I have no quarrel with honoring ally agreements (although Kuwait I would not want to fight for) ... .what bush did horribly wrong was shortly after - he encouraged the southern shia to rebel ... they thinking he meant they would get support ... they rebelled and were left alone to die

I didn't know that.
It was an op/ed I read. There was prolly a lot more to the decision not to remove him from power(as CC stated) than just Colin Powell saying don't do it.
