Title: You want Honesty?
Post by: Anonymous on January 24, 2016, 05:14:14 AM
My parents aren't doing so well...

My stepfather is still in the hospital, and will probably never come home again.

My Mother is starting to become a problem also.

I'm not even 40 yet, and it wasn't long ago I dealt with my Grandparents...

Rarely snows here.

And just got some news just now.  There's a tumour in one lung.  It's inoperable.  He has most likely a few days left to live.

Looks like I'll be going to another funeral here shortly...

All they can do now is to "keep him comfortable."  I know this term quite well when dealing with my Grandparents.

It's slang for "Morphine time, and you guys will determine how much 'comfort' we inject into him for his last few remaining days, even though a lot of 'comfort' could very well hasten death."

Nothing can be said.  It's better a person dies relatively quick, than to linger around for months or years half-dead.

I knew it wasn't good, but this happened even faster than I though it would.

Nothing I haven't been through before though...  With life must always come death.

Why did they spare her maternal grandparents?

Likely they were considered no threat to the communist regime at the time..

My father and my grandfather were persecuted by Chiang Kai Shek's thuggish regime, but not my mother's family.

Well, I wasn't ever really that close to the man, but at least I did spend some "quality" time with him, for lack of a better term, in the last few weeks here.  May he Rest in Peace now.

It probably won't be appropriate for me to clown around on these forums so soon, considering the circumstance, so much to your delights I'll probably keep a relatively low profile for at least a few days.

It sounds like your family is coping as well as can be expected with their grief.

I've buried too many over time.  I've spent too much time in hospitals and wards.

I suppose the correct term is becoming "institutionalized" to the process of death.  I don't like it, but with every new death I deal with, it becomes easier...  More protocol...  More...  I don't know.

I don't want family to take care of...  I am single, and I have no children.  I don't want to deal with this time and time again.
