Title: Why Donald Trump could win the White House
Post by: eagle on February 28, 2016, 03:01:44 PM
Unlike politicians, Donald Trump has never had to learn to hide his true feelings in order to win the approval of the majority, so he's not particularly adept in the art of political correctness. In fact, it's pretty obvious that he's terrible at it, much to the delight of his opponents. Every time he makes another mistake they pounce on it, holding it up for all to see, thinking that this will be the one that will destroy his credibility once and for all, and every time they do, it backfires on them.

What his adversaries don't seem to realize is that the playing field has changed drastically since they first learned the game. In a world where information was strictly controlled by a chosen few, the shaping of public opinion was a slow and tedious process. The acceleration provided by the electronic printing press has caught them all off guard, while its inherent leakiness has revealed most of them to be professional liars.

Attacking Trump by taking his words out of context only reinforces that idea. What they are effectively doing is ridiculing him for his honesty. It's not the best of strategies in an environment where the vast majority of voters are sick and tired of being lied to, and increasingly afraid for their safety. From Trump's perspective you couldn't ask for a better situation. He's a novice at the game of chess he's now playing. His opponents however, are still playing checkers.

He will not win in November.

Azhya, I read there are two dozen Republican congressmen who said they cannot support Trump if he is the nominee for president. I read that Ted Cruz has left the door open to running on a joint ticket with Rubio. About sixty per cent of Republicans won't vote for Trump, so how could he win a general election?

I get your point Azhya, but do you seriously see Hillary not getting the Democratic nomination? Do you see anyway that Trump will not have the GOP nomination all sewn up after super Tuesday? Do you see anyway that Trump could beat Hillary in November?

The Democrats are going to unload some dark secrets about Trump once they know for certain that is who they will face. Things like employing illegal aliens and not paying contractors when his businesses failed. They won't do it now, because it will only help Rubio and Hillary would lose to him.

It seems to me that Europe is being deliberately nudged into a war so it makes sense that someone like Trump would appear just in the nick of time to "save the day" in America. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the power brokers who actually run things have rigged the game so that he wins.

Right. Every day a growing number of people turn on the establishment of both parties, as they damned well should. Both party establishments have let down the people.

No one can predict in the midst of the such change / rebellion now taking place. Donald and Bernie stepped up and became the champions for those who had no champion on their side. The number of people pulling away from the establishment grows every day

Example: Did you know that this morning the 2nd in charge of the DNC quit to go help Bernie because she was pissed that the DNC was trying to hard to help Hilary (i.e. trying to negate the roll of the voters) ... something a party has no right to do and yet both do it and the public gets it

There is deadlock because the current president is very partisan and the congress is controlled by the opposition. A big part of the appeal of Trump is that he is not partisan. He has supported Democrats and Republicans in the past. I think a trump presidency would be about compromise.

Why can't a guy like Kasich win? He is running as a Republican, but he is basically non partisan. Why does he appear to be going no where?  His message is the strongest, but heard by few. I have a continuing joke with my friends. When we tune in CNN each morning, how many seconds does it take before you hear that name, Trump. Usually not more than 5 seconds. CNN is in Donnys pocket for sure.

It's funny you mention the Tea Party because he disagrees with them on most issues. They are jumping on the Trump bandwagon, Cruz represents the values of the Tea Party movement not Trump. From health care to Planned Parenthood, Trump is at odds with the Tea Party movement. Tea Partiers do not support Democratic candidates ever.

Trump is not partisan, he is an independent. He is the least ideological person to run for the white house since Ross Perot. Cruz and Sanders are the real ideological purists still in the hunt.

It's not a matter of believing anything, Trump is an independent which is why he is doing so well. They feel the two parties are not listening to them. He would have a skilled national security around him and you would not have to worry about the nuke codes.
