One soldier was cut while apprehending the man, DND confirmed.
The two people who were injured suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated in hospital.
The suspect uttered the word "Allah" the Toronto Sun reports, citing police sources. A source with knowledge of the investigation has also told CBC News the same thing.
Saunders said police are strongly considering the possibility that the attack was an act of terrorism, but he said it's still early in the investigation.
"I want a full understanding of what was said, so I'm not giving bits and pieces," he said.
The suspect is currently being held in custody in hospital.

When will people get it? Going all Fundy / devout islam, growing big beard and all always indicates "islam only" matters and hate for country and its people increases the deeper they go into islam
We had 12 homegrowns in one apartment bldg in Calgary, 4 of whom went overseas to train and kill.

Until the attacks, both jihadi and personal and legal bullying (using our laws to advantage and in ways they were not intended) reach a point where the media and authorities have to deal with reality, very little will be done and there is little we can do to change it .... short of those "wagons and pitchforks" you used to break me up with often
We were just hit with a crippling setback now that we have a PM who has no idea of what core islam is all about, is buds with some pretty fundy critters and is using their advice (which of course is "what problem ... other than your people's islamoFAUXbia?") PLUS bringing more in by the boatload means an ever increasing problem to deal even if politicians had the smarts to "get it" followed by the balls to deal with it.
As to answers to the problem of ever increasing % of devouts, there really is no gentle solution. We opened the gates and allowed the enemy in ... and have commanders who think its all great
