Title: Foodie Goodie
Post by: RW on March 20, 2016, 01:15:18 AM
It's no secret we all come from diverse backgrounds.  Some of us were born in other countries and some of us identify with our heritage cultures.  For example, I'm an Italian/Scotish Canadian so I can politely eat, drink and hump you under the table. :D

Being in the city this week and being exposed to so many cultural dining options, I got to thinking about cultural staples in food, like what's the must have eats from your (or someone else's) backgrounds?  Like if someone were to eat only one meal from your culture, what should they try?

It's an Australian meat pie (which is very tasty!) in a bowl of pea soup.  I'm not sure why they've ruined it with ketchup though.

And Shen, I've been to my share of Chinese restaurants.  I know what you people eat.  :sneaky2:

I don't care for canned food when we can just make it ourselves. Hubby likes buying canned stews and ravioli. I prefer making it fresh, that way you can add anything you want and you know it isn't loaded with artificial stuff or sodium.

Someone at my husband's shop shot a wild boar on a private acreage..

There's a chance we may get a wild boar roast.

I bring that with me and warm it up in the microwave when I am stuck in a siding. When I get to a bunk house or a hotel, I have a proper meal. I like bunk houses better because they have full kitchens and all pots, pans and even measuring cups.

I have left over pork tenderloin, baby spuds and garlic asparagus in my plastic containers for the microwave. No offense, but it beats canned Irish stew.

Yes, I did and it was terrible..

I did the roast in the slow cooker..

I looked more like beef and didn't taste anything like pork..

It was gamey and disappointing.

That's a surprise. I thought it would be the same as pork. I had wild turkey and it's delicious. Nothing gamey about it.
