Title: Ask You Anything
Post by: Bricktop on March 20, 2016, 06:41:13 PM
Ask the poster above you any question you like about themselves (other than PI, naturally).

Because there is no poster above me, I shall arbitrarily pick one to get the ball rolling.

@Keeper...

How many hours a day do you play Guild Wars?

Oil batteries are comprised of equipment like treaters, water disposal and storage units (those upright rows of storage tanks that you often see at well sites). Like a plant operator, they may also deal with compressors or dehydrators

I just know what my Dad taught me which was only one way. The Spaniards colonized the Philippines for centuries so stainless steel/silver utensils were introduced to us. Only the Chinese-Filipinos own real chopsticks in their homes in the Philippines. In our home, chopsticks only came with Chinese take out food so they were disposable ones. It was not something we always used. I guess that is for the Chinese folks here to answer. Sorry.

I do.  I can actually cook, I generally tell people that I "don't" cook.  I have cultivated the image that I am useless in the kitchen, so that people don't expect or want me to cater for them.

I don't enjoy cooking, unless I have all day to cook a three course meal for people who will enjoy it rather than whine that they didn't want that for dinner... as kids tend to do.  I've figured out that the more effort I put into a meal, the more likely it is that someone will refuse to eat it, or will cry that they have to.   Simple crock pot, or grilled dinners work best with my kids.

Quote from: "RW"Speaking of which, Fash, Shen and Dove:

What would you do if one of your children turned out to be gay?

I know this wasn't aimed at me, but as I have five boys, I will answer it as well.

If one of my children turned out to be gay, I'd love them the same way I do now.  And I would accept their partner, the same as I would if they were straight.

Having five boys, the comment was made by my exh that one in five boys is gay, so the chances are one of ours will be.  He actually seemed accepting of that, although has told the boys that they can be gay, just not under his roof.   My boys used to paint their nails when I did, when they were little.  Their father once picked them all up with sparkly pink finger and toe nails, and after raising his eyebrows at me, I pointed out that the deep purple colour I was wearing was their first choice, so I thought the light pink a suitable compromise, and he agreed,  they also came home with their nail polish intact.

One of my older twins can strut in stilettos better than most teenage girls.  He discovered that my heels fitted him and asked me to teach him the catwalk strut, so I did.  He decided that he'd make a great high heel model, as he's pretty enough for make-up.  He has had constant girlfriends for the past two years, and he's not thirteen yet.

I have another boy who is excellent at colour matching, and who actually had a melt down because his brother's shorts and shirt didn't go together on free dress day, until I calmed him down and pointed out how the pattern on the shorts actually worked with the shirt.  He is also very gentle and likes brushing my hair... he tried to learn how to plait my hair so that he could plait his horse's mane and tail.

I want for my kids to be happy, and to be secure in the knowledge that they are lovable, and free to love whomever they choose.

I have a single boy and then two sets of twins.  My eldest is from a previous relationship in my early 20's, and the two sets of twins are from my first marriage.  They are currently 20, 12, 12, 10 and 10.

My eldest was an only child until he was almost 8.   Then I had four kids in the space of two and a half years.  He used to beg me for a little brother, but now he tells me that I went overboard, I told him that he asked so many times for a little brother that the Universe got confused and kept sending him more.

I am intolerant of, or unable to even contemplate, most contraceptives.  So after my first set of twins when my dr had to remove my implanon and refused to implant a mirena without a general anaesthetic, my husband and I decided to see what would happen if we tried for a girl...  what happened was that I was pregnant with twin boys within two months of having the implanon out.  I had a tubal ligation with the caesarean that delivered them.

That is unreal!  I can't even imagine what your house is like.  I have one 11 year old and there are days when he's a lot to handle.  I got pregnant with my two just after going off the pill so when people would ask me what fertility drugs I used, I said The Pill.  Haha.

My hat goes off to you for your double set of twins.

Yes.

I found many individual Americans to be warm and friendly to others, yet cold and somewhat demanding to staff and service providers. It seemed to me that America is a country of classes, with wealthy Americans thinking they are better than everyone else.

Mostly, though, it didn't seem that different to Australia. Perhaps that's why I wasn't entirely overwhelmed with excitement.

Just bigger and brasher.

I had my first at 22. My second and third at 30. And my fourth and fifth at 32.   I only had three pregnancies.

I have a friend who is 31 and has six kids ranging from 3 to 12.  And not one multiple birth in the bunch.

Although, I must say, it's a first for me to be told my assumed she was late forties. Most people who meet me think I'm in my early 30s.  I actually had a customer at work tell me that I was too young to have 7 year olds a few years ago, she nearly fell on the floor when my co-worker told her that I also had an 18 year old.

As far as the converse goes, White women who prefer Asian men might be a smaller group, but I see enough couples of this sort around town to think that it's not a fluke. never underestimate the demographic relevance of the hipsters.  ac_drinks

No.

Don't compare me with her.

I take her shit with nonchalance and humour. It doesn't bug me, as you WELL know. I find it amusing most times, silly at others.

But she can't take what she hands out with abandon. She slags off at people she doesn't like, or with whom she doesn't agree, but when she gets it back, she has a meltdown. She likes to flame, but doesn't like the heat.

I've made considerable effort to reach a rapport where she doesn't get all bitter and twisted, but she doesn't reciprocate.

So, fuck her. Enough is enough. Like all Americans, she is beyond reason, and prefers conflict to co-operation.

I don't handle hypocrites well.

On a daily basis, I try to help the mentally ill, the homeless, and drug addicts try to get their lives back on track.

Not entirely sure who Dove is, but good for her.

There's a risk, though, in coiling your emotions around a client/user/patient who's part of a fragile clientele, in that the person is here one day and gone the next. That can be crushing. Especially when you've known a person over a span of years and in a fairly intimate way. I've had to deal with suicide (in my mental health outreach job), death from natural causes (when I was toiling as an outreach worker for senior citizens), and the disappearing acts drug addicts pull when they fall off the wagon. Yes, you get attached, but you have to heed the little voice in your head that cautions you to remain disinterested (not uninterested, but disinterested). It's also the only sane way to deal with issues of transference and counter-transference. A fine line to walk.

This one is for anyone with Asian ancestry...

I was told a long time ago that Asian people "don't like being touched", which meant that they take offense to anyone who tries to touch them. Is this true across the board? There was a situation where I was smoking on a patio with dozens of strangers and someone who was knocking at the window from the inside wanted me to call the attention of an Asian girl standing out there because she had a phone call waiting. I walked over and tapped her on the shoulder from behind, and she quickly turned around and exclaimed "Don't ever do that again!"

I felt like explaining myself afterwards, but she seemed to not want anything to do with anyone at that facility.

But if someone I know touches my hand or arm I do not mind at all.

I'm breaking the rules a little here, but I wouldn't be the first. This one is for Shen Li.

When you pretend to be so mean on here, does anyone ever message you asking why?

Also, is there a reason you haven't answered my unwanted flirting thread?

I guess on some level most people don't, but would it cause you to be alarmed if someone you didn't know touched you anywhere but your privates?

I know this is not meant for me shin, but Shen Li is a very different person in real life than the character she is playing on here..

She has a warm heart and she adores children..

At times she drops her Iron Ch!nk persona and revels her heart.

I figured she couldn't be like this in real life. It took me a while, but it became evident that she was acting a bit, especially when she's talking about you. Otherwise, I would think she contracted rabies when she was 3.  :laugh3:

My wife is East Asian. She is a bit on the shy side, so any interaction with a total stranger might freak her out a little.
