"The harsh reality is that once a witness has been shown to be deceptive and manipulative in giving their evidence, that witness can no longer expect the court to consider them to be a trusted source of the truth," Horkins said.
"I am forced to conclude that it is impossible for the court to have sufficient faith in the reliability or sincerity of these complainants. Put simply, the volume of serious deficiencies in the evidence leaves the court with a reasonable doubt."

This case begs questioning our justice system. Ghomeshi has lost his job, his radio show, and has expended a lot on defending himself in court. His reputation is fucked and he's had his sex life splayed all over the media. What good is being found not guilty when the court of public opinion has convinced you? Accusations should not mean an end to life as you know it. He won't get his life back. Is that justice?
I haven't been following this case, but if he is truly innocent I am happy he was acquitted.
He's paid a price in the court of public opinion.

I note that women protested the court's decision. Proving, as you highlight, that the stigma is very hard to remove, when the victims are part of an "ism".
