I only buy cans, but I like bottles better taste wise. I like the convenience of cans. When I am operating my farm equipment I can crush them up and throw them on the floor of the cab.

My sister and I did the around the world challenge at world showcase in Epcot while on vacation. That's where you drink a beer from all 11 counties around the 7seas lagoon. Some of the brews are pretty fucken bad.
Normally I can drink 11 beers in the course of the day without getting fucked up too badly but we got a late start and tried to do it in 2hrs. We started in France and by the time we got to Canada (10th) beer I was completely obliterated.
We stumbled into the Rose and Crown pub in the UK for 7 o'clock dinner reservations and proceeded to drink God knows how many "snake bites" (equal parts Harp lager and hard cider).
I walked, staggered, crawled.....I don't fucking know.....because it was with blurred vision and probably one eye open, back to the condo. I remember or I think I remember they were showing the most recent Star Wars movie on the Boardwalk lawn but I'm not really too sure. All I could think of was get back to the room and passed out or throw up, which ever came first.
How my sister got back.....I don't know.....I left her to fend for herself somewhere along the way. For all I knew she could have fallen in the canal between the resort and Epcot and got eaten by aligators.
The worst and most frustrating part was when I hit the bed I got the spins and had to put the anchor out. But the bed was too high for my short legs and I must have slid off the bed while trying to put my foot on the floor. I woke up around 1am, on the floor, fully clothed to the sound of my little sister in the bathroom losing her Shepard's pie.
I haven't drank since.

My sister and I did the around the world challenge at world showcase in Epcot while on vacation. That's where you drink a beer from all 11 counties around the 7seas lagoon. Some of the brews are pretty fucken bad.
Normally I can drink 11 beers in the course of the day without getting fucked up too badly but we got a late start and tried to do it in 2hrs. We started in France and by the time we got to Canada (10th) beer I was completely obliterated.
We stumbled into the Rose and Crown pub in the UK for 7 o'clock dinner reservations and proceeded to drink God knows how many "snake bites" (equal parts Harp lager and hard cider).
I walked, staggered, crawled.....I don't fucking know.....because it was with blurred vision and probably one eye open, back to the condo. I remember or I think I remember they were showing the most recent Star Wars movie on the Boardwalk lawn but I'm not really too sure. All I could think of was get back to the room and passed out or throw up, which ever came first.
How my sister got back.....I don't know.....I left her to fend for herself somewhere along the way. For all I knew she could have fallen in the canal between the resort and Epcot and got eaten by aligators.:laugh:
The worst and most frustrating part was when I hit the bed I got the spins and had to put the anchor out. But the bed was too high for my short legs and I must have slid off the bed while trying to put my foot on the floor. I woke up around 1am, on the floor, fully clothed to the sound of my little sister in the bathroom losing her Shepard's pie.:laugh3:

Here's an artifact. I drank lots of this when I was in S.Vietnam in the middle sixties. It was originally developed in France from a German recipe, but was a rice beer. It was tons better than the American pisswater beers that were offered. Everyone called it "Ba Muiy Ba" which is Vietnamese for 33.
When the Communists took over in the mid-seventies they re-packaged it as "333 premium export" and it is still sold that way, but it's now a lighter paler lager that's also sold as "Saigon."

Cool post. Did it come in a can? Started my beer drinking career in the late 60s. If I remember right, for cans ya needed a church key then. Anyone remember. Yeah I'm an oldfucker.

Partly because it was rice beer, sometimes in warm weather they'd get a "hot batch" in the brewery and it would go further than 12-14% alcohol by volume. I think somewhere around 18% alcohol is where the alcohol itself kills the yeast and stops the fermentation, but at times the practice in that brewery was rumored to be that at 14% they'd toss a cup of two of formaldehyde in the vat, to stop it there.
I guess that's okay if you stir well, but apparently they didn't always bother to stir well. So maybe one in ten thousand bottles would be toxic. I heard of a couple of people going blind, behind the formaldehyde poisoning, but no deaths that I heard of.

I find the stronger taste more agreeable.. And these dark beers are better with food.

In Canada, it's alcohol by volume or weight. Most mass produced Canadian beer is five per cent and most mass produced American beer is four per cent. You can buy stronger beers anywhere.
